Small Book Haul & Random Pictures.

HEY! 🙂

So I recently ordered some books online (delivered today) and I also got a book at Target. Target is totally my go to grocery store now (I find it to be so much cheaper and better quality than most places, besides Publix) and that has its good and bad. The bad being I can’t help but always look at the books and I always end up leaving with at least one of them! I also wanted to order a book online and they were like “if you add $13 more, you can have free shipping” and I used that as an excuse to get another book, which turned into three, because I found a coupon code online, lol! There is seriously something wrong with me, hah.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
The Wicked Will Rise
by Danielle Paige
Dorothy Must Die: Stories by Danielle Page
We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach

Dorothy Must Die: Stories has the three novellas (No Place Like Oz || The Witch Must Burn || The Wizard Returns) in one book. I really wanted to order The Wicked Will Rise, so I added the stories book with it. I also really want to read A Thousand Pieces of You and I am in love with the cover, so I decided to get that one too. I got We All Looked Up at Target, which I am so excited about. It sounds like such an amazing book!

OH HEY, it’s ColbyJack! He loves books and boxes and he got both of them. If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen some of these pictures already. If you’re not, you should totally follow me! 🙂 —> heyyitsashley

GOOD NEWS, GUYS! I finished Dorothy Must Die! YAY! I loved it, so I am excited to eventually read these other books. It took me so long to read it, because of the reading slump.

My boyfriend sent me this picture of ColbyJack today at work. He said he was looking everywhere in the apartment for him and then finally found him sleeping under the blanket. Pizza & beer = perfection & dinner tonight. 🙂

Dax has my heart, seriously. I love my pup so much! Books & beer = perfection too! I am off to start Throne of Glass tonight. New book, means new bookmark. SHERLOCK ❤

Alright…that’s all for this post. I did a post earlier today that you can check out over here: WWW Wednesdays. You can also check out my post from a couple days ago over here: Creative Blogger Award. Fun stuff! 🙂 I hope everyone has a good night! I’m totally crossing my fingers that my reading slump is slowly letting up. Let’s see how that works out when I start this book tonight! BYE! 🙂

Fangirl.

Hi 🙂

This post is going to be two different challenges into one post, since I am going to use the same book for both. I am doing day nine of the 30 day book challenge and a topic from the POPSUGAR 2015 Reading Challenge.

Day 09A book you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving.
Also, A book by a female author.

16068905

I’ve heard so many things about Fangirl and noticed so many people loved the book. I read the description and it didn’t really sound like a book I would like, so I never read it. I continued to hear good things about it and I continued to go back and forth deciding if I should read it. I recently discovered that I could listen to audiobooks on an app on my iPhone that connects to my public library, so I decided to listen to Fangirl while working this week. I ended up liking it a lot more than I ever thought I would.

This was the first time I read (well listened in this case 😉 ) a book by Rainbow Rowell (although I do have two other books that have been on my TBR list), so it was interesting to finally see how she writes. I felt like I could relate to Cath a lot, even now. I loved the story and I loved the parts of Simon Snow that were included and the fanfiction that Cath wrote about Simon and Baz. Levi…oh Levi, he was perfect. I love my boyfriend to death (been with him a little over seven years), but I won’t lie, there were times I wish he were more like Levi, lol. All guys need a little Levi in them!

I am glad I finally gave in and read the book. I think that the book is relatable for a lot of people, especially younger people, fresh out of high school, trying to make it in the real world and through college. Finding yourself and what really is important in your life. I never did college like that (small community college in Fort Myers for me), but it was nice getting a small peek into that. Sometimes I did get annoyed with some of the characters and the story, but overall I really liked it.

I am also excited that Rainbow Rowell is releasing Carry On as a real book! I am excited to read more about Simon and Baz. Throughout the book I was wishing I could hear more about them. The little scenes about them were nice, but I wanted more of it. Carry On is supposed to be released this year in October, so that is something to look forward to!

HAPPY 11 DOCTOR

Have you read Fangirl? If so, what did you think and are you looking forward to the Simon Snow story?

  • You can check out my previous post from the POPSUGAR reading challenge about a book by an author with my initials over here.
  • You can also check out my day eight post about a book turned into a movie and completely desecrated over here.

Off to have dinner and possibly read or find a new show on Netflix. Have any Netflix suggestions?

30 Day Book Challenge // Day Six.

Hi 🙂

Jumping back on the 30 day book challenge! I decided I would do the posts Monday-Friday. I know that’s not exactly 30 days straight, but oh well!

Day 06: Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time.

11735983

Since I have done my favorite book of all time already (check it out over here), I am going to go with my favorite book of my favorite series. The Divergent series is my favorite series, but Insurgent was my favorite book out of them all. I felt like there was so much information and action jam packed into Insurgent and it was great! So much unfolded in the book and it was the book that was the hardest for me to put down. The way that it ended made it that much harder to wait the year for Allegiant.

This is going to be a short post, because I really want to go read. I’m finally starting to get more into The Glass Arrow and wanting to find out what happens next. I’m hoping this means the end of my mini-reading slump. I’m crossing my fingers, because I got approved for some Netgalley books that I really want to read, so I am hoping to get to those soon. I also have a bunch of books I bought recently that I want to get to. I’m itching for something new, so I am getting excited about all the books I bought.

I completely forgot I ordered bookmarks on Etsy until I got them in the mail today! I was so excited about it and it was a nice surprise. Bookmarks of a fangirl.

Sherlock, Supernatural, Doctor Who

ColbyJack (my kitten) scratched up my other Doctor Who bookmark (ughhh), so I ordered a different one. Well, I am off to hangout with my younger sister for a little while and then read until the boyfriend gets home. 🙂 bye!

Versatile Blog Award.

IMG_2268

Hey!

I have been nominated by Lu-Lu’s Rants & Reads for the Versatile Blogger Award. She has an awesome blog, has tons of book related posts that are great, and she might be my younger twin. 😉

For this award, I am meant to thank the person who nominated me, share 7 facts about me, show the award on my blog and nominate 15 other people.

7 facts about me:

1. I am 26 years old and I do not have my driver’s license. Insane? Most likely. I messed up in high school and never got around to getting it afterward. I REALLY want to get it this year though, so that is one of my goals for 2015. It sucks having to rely on others and not able to do things on your own time.

2. I have two furbabies! Dax is my five year old Shih Tzu and I had him since he was a little tiny puppy. My other furbaby is my 1.5 year old kitten named ColbyJack. He’s named after the cheese and I had him since he was 4-5 weeks old. They are the best of friends (brothers 🙂 ). Words can’t even explain how much I love them. I spend all my time with them when the boyfriend isn’t home because I lack friends and all that.
IMG_22773. I am slighty…actually I AM addicted to Bath & Body Works. I own at least 500 (yes hundreds) of products from them. Remember in one of my posts I said you might not be ready to see my other weakness? Well this is it. I have 55 body sprays, 30 shower gels, 10 lotions, and probably about 400 hand sanitizers. Here’s the proof…well the proof of hand sanitizers anyway.

4. I have six tattoos: flowers on my right foot (I got it done in the Bahamas), puzzle piece on my right leg, robot on my left leg, “Remember To Breathe” on my left wrist, music note on my right wrist, and a star on my right hand (and the bestie has one too).

5. I am a huge Doctor Who, Supernatural, and Sherlock fangirl. Doctor Who being the number one. I can’t even count how many Doctor Who themed things I own. I have a huge framed exploding TARDIS picture in my living room. I also have these in my living room…
IMG_2275 Not sure if you can tell, but the Sherlock one says “I believe in Sherlock Holmes” and the Doctor Who one says “We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one.” The other says “Supernatural” and has Sam, Dean, and Castiel on it.

6. I love taking pictures. I’m not a pro at it or anything like that, but I like taking pictures of anything and everything. I really love taking pictures of the sun (sunsets, sunrises) and that could also play a role into the reason why I have glasses now; that and the fact that I read too much. I usually post my pictures on Instagram (heyyitsashley). I’ve been obsessed with taking macro shots. Here’s a bee I saw crawling on the sidewalk outside of work.

7. I am pretty sure I am a hypochondriac. The slightest problem with me and I believe I am dying or close to death. My boyfriend hates it, but I can’t help it sometimes, lol. I also have a problem with always picturing the worst happening. It’s hard to explain. Umm…let’s say I am going over a bridge…I will start coming up with scenarios in my head about how I can escape if the bridge was to collapse. I just come with scenarios in my head about anything and everything, kind of like a “just in case” type thing.

This got a lot longer than it really should have, lol! Thank you Lu-Lu’s Rants & Reads for nominating me! I just started my blog up again, so it’s hard to come up with 15 nominations.

But, I nominate…
The Art of Failing
Thistles and Whistles
The Worn Bookmark

I’m off to watch Supernatural with the boyfriend. We are on season nine and season ten has been sitting on the DVR waiting to be watched since it started! 🙂
