Random|| Life Update.

Hey!

This is just a random little life update, because I don’t have any book related posts that I want to write right now and it’s been a while since I’ve done a post like this. Sorry in advance if this post is all over the place and completely random.

So, for the last two or three years I haven’t been counting audiobooks toward my Goodreads challenge goal, because I wanted to challenge myself to see how many books that I could read on my own. I had that goal at the start of 2020 too, BUT…you guys already know this has been a crazy damn year! With that being said, I decided that I would start counting audiobooks toward my reading challenge for this year. The thought of not completing my Goodreads challenge would have just brought me down even more than I am already feeling. Since I decided to do that, I am only 1 or 2 books behind schedule and I’m sure I’ll be caught up soon! I’ve been listening to books while I do my diamond paintings and it’s been nice! Below is the most recent diamond painting I completed. Also, check out this new blood spatter bookmark I got from The Bookables on Etsy! It gives me so many Dexter vibes.

I got back into playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons more. Currently, I have been working on redoing the interior of my house and making it more homey. I’ve focused a lot of my main room and my basement. Next up will probably be the bathroom. And then I need to do some serious work on my island itself. I have way too many flowers and they just need to go. I’m not seeing the real potential for my island, because it’s buried under hundreds of dang flowers! It’s a long process getting rid of so many flowers though, which is why I haven’t touched them. But that needs to change A.S.A.P. lol. 😛 Do you play Animal Crossing? Let’s be friends!

The husband and I watched both seasons of Cobra Kai on Netflix and OMG….the feels! We both love The Karate Kid sooo much, especially me. Cobra Kai was AMAZING and I am dying for the third season. I can’t even count how many times I cried or got goosebumps. The episode that made me cry the most was episode five of season one though. I’m talking tears streaming down my face and me yelling that I can’t take this show anymore, LOL. We got so obsessed with Cobra Kai that for the last week we’ve been going around the house pretending to do karate moves on each other when we pass by each other.

I put up some Halloween decorations around my house! I still need like A LOT more, but I am happy with the little bit of Halloween touch I’ve been adding around the house. I also put out a jar of my favorite Halloween candy, because I love them so much and also because it makes for a good Halloween decoration as well….as long as I don’t eat them all lol. 😛

Speaking of Halloween, I’m in the process of creating my Halloweenie TBR that I do every year. I like to try to read as many spooky/Halloween vibe books throughout October. I’m not entirely sure what books I will be adding to the list yet, but we’ll see how that goes. I am excited to go through my bookshelves and my Kindle shelf to see what books I may want to read in October! As long as I can actually read, still battling a reading slump. I have been reading the same book for 18 days and only on page 120, UGH. I guess that’s where audiobooks come in. If I can’t read myself, at least I have them.

I’ve been struggling a lot with anxiety as you already know and maybe even some depression (or sadness if it’s not depression). My sleep schedule has been really bad, which I think I’ve also talked about here. Sometimes I don’t go to sleep until 5 or 6am. I function day to day on only 3-5 hours of sleep a day. This week I’ve been challenging myself to go to sleep by 1am every night and so far I’ve done that. There was one day I even went to sleep at 10pm, so that’s been a good thing. I still can’t seem to get myself out of bed in the mornings, but it’s progress.

Andy and I went on a day trip a couple weekends ago to visit my younger sister, because my mom, older sister, niece, and nephew were going to. We went to this place called the “Shell Factory”. I’ve been there many times in the past since I used to live near there, but haven’t gone in years and years. Some things were okay and other things weren’t that great. I did take some pictures, so here are a few. For the small ones, you can click the image to see a full size version.

These next pictures will just be a bunch of random pictures, furbabies, sunsets, etc. 🙂

Some banana bread and cheesecake that I made recently. 🙂

And with that, I think that’s all I have for this update. I still want to do a picture update from when I went to Illinois for a month in June, so hopefully I’ll finally get around to doing that post. I’ll catch up with your posts and comments over the weekend. 🙂

Dr. Von D Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park.

travel

Hey!

Andy and I decided to find another park in our area that we haven’t been to and check it out. We used to do this a lot, but haven’t in awhile. We want to go to as many places as we can in this area before we move, so we decided to start checking out parks again. Dr. Von D Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (damn that name is a mouth full, LOL) is pretty much just a few minutes down the street from us and I can’t believe we haven’t known about this place, because it was so nice; especially the the beach area! Part of the park is ocean and the other part is woodsy.

Processed with VSCO with l1 preset

These are all the pictures that I took in the beach/ocean part of the park. It was really pretty there and I was obsessed with the view, especially the very first picture that I shared. I think this is more of the fishing area, because a lot of people had fishing poles and they were fishing off the rocks as you can see in the first set of pictures. The last four pictures is more of a sandy area where a lot of people were swimming and laying out. It’s a lot more secluded in this area of the beach than the typical touristy part, which is pretty neat. Nice to keep in mind if I want to ever go to the beach. Even the bathrooms looked nicer than the typical busy touristy beach.

These are the few pictures that I took in the woodsy area of the park. I didn’t take too many, because I was freaking out because of all the mosquitoes LOL! We made it through though and this was the view when we came out of the woodsy area. IT’S SO PRETTY! Heart eyes for days! We ended up on a bridge and when you cross over the bridge then you’re at the beach (the more sandy part)!

Below are just some random pictures that I took over the last week. I haven’t taken very many, so I figured I would include them in this post as well.

5278c874-2f3c-4bf3-99ed-afaf0f013892

It wouldn’t be a proper post if I didn’t include pictures of the sky. You all probably know by now that I am obsessed with the sky, so I take a lot of pictures of it. These are my first 2019 pictures of the sky LOL with probably a million more to come. 😛

It also wouldn’t be typical Ashley post without pictures of my furbabies. So the left picture of my kitties, this is the first time I almost got the perfect picture of them all three together. BUT of course the littlest one (Leaf – white calico at the top) ruined it. She was in the middle of smacking October (black calico), so I called her name and she looked up but October was still like “WTF” at Leaf and didn’t look up when I called. You can see little Leaf’s paw being held up slightly, lol. UGHHH. I just want one good picture of them all looking at the camera at the same time, is that too much to ask for? 😛 And then my pup Dax on the right.

That’s all for this post. I can’t wait to figure out which park we want to check out next. I have a few bookmarked and there’s a couple museums that I want to go to as well. So we’ll see what happens!

Random|| Picture Update.

pictureupdate

Hey!

I haven’t done one of these photo dumps in awhile, so I figured now would be a good time to do one. Feel free to add my on Instagram (heyyitsashley) if you want to see them as I post them. Some of these pictures haven’t been posted there yet, but will eventually make there way over there. I love posting my pictures on here, which I ended up having to upgrade my blog to a personal plan because I was running out of storage space for photos. It looks like I might have to end up upgrading again to a premium plan, because I’m getting to a point that I’ll probably be out of space (AGAIN) by the middle of next year? I guess we’ll see what happens. Anyway! Onto some pictures that I’ve been taking over the last couple of months and different things I’ve done that I never updated about. I think I’ll start off with the newest things/pictures first.

Now that Andy has weekends off from work, we’re actually able to do stuff! This weekend we decided to go walk around Target and the Spirit Halloween store. I actually left Target not getting anything for myself, crazy! I usually walk out buying things I never needed and spending way too much money. The Spirit Halloween store had a bunch of different Hocus Pocus costumes and accessories. I was living for this sign they had. We also decided to grab Taco Bell for lunch and eat it at the park. It was actually really nice since we were under the trees in the shade.

More food pictures. Andy’s birthday was on October 9th, so we decided to go to our favorite restaurant for dinner. They seriously have the best pizza ever! I decided to try something else from their menu though and got the baked ravioli. It was so good! I need to go back this week for more.

Another weekend we all (my entire family) went to go eat at Joe’s Grill. It’s literally right at the end of our street, so we can walk there. They sell amazing pulled pork and mac & cheese. They have a lot of food on their menu, but I always get the pulled pork and mac & cheese. I always forget to take pictures of the food, but it’s so good!

img_2489

The weekend before Andy’s birthday we decided to go visit his parents. I mentioned that in my last post, I believe. It was a pretty fun time. I took this picture at a rest area that we stopped at before getting to his parents. I really love it.

These are just some random pictures that I took while there. Top left is his parents’ dog Digby. Top right is just a picture of my shoes and the grass. I have this weird obsession with taking pictures like this, I don’t know why. I have a ton and I do it all the time. 😛 Bottom left is my dog Dax exploring their backyard. We don’t have a fence yard, so whenever he goes to visit he gets to run around without a leash. Bottom right is a picture of Dax and Digby together, which I shared in my last photo a day post.

Andy and I decided one weekend to walk around Anne Kolb Nature Center park, so I could find things to take pictures of. We didn’t stay too long, because it was so hot outside, but I didn’t get a ton of nice pictures. Left is the observation tower, which you can go up. Right is one of the walking trails. Below are a bunch more pictures that I took at Anne Kolb.

These six pictures are all taken from the top of the observation tower. I took the stairs to the top, but took the elevator down because it was seriously so hot outside, HAHA. I love all these pictures that I was able to take though.

Processed with VSCO with k3 preset

I was pretty happy with every single one of these pictures that I took. This is another part of Anne Kolb. There’s different parts to the park/nature center. This is an area where you can actually go fishing at. The last picture is this really cool butterfly that I seen. It’s called an atala butterfly. I love that it looks like it’s glowing with those blue dots on it. I wish it had it’s wings opened, because they are even prettier with their wings spread.

And now this is where I just post a bunch of random pictures and a ton of my furbabies, haha. 😛

I was trying to get the girls into the Halloween spirit. Honestly, I wanted them to sit next to the pumpkin and look at the camera. They didn’t want to do that. I even tried to offer them toys, but nope. 😛 These were the best I could do.

Sleepy kitties! Left picture (October), I started to give October treats every day, so she’s starting to come out more. She’s usually a loner and never really likes attention much. We have a room that we call the “cat room”, because that’s where we keep the litter boxes, their cat tree, and it’s warm so they all like to chill in there. 98% of the time she is in there. Now that I’ve been giving her a lot of treats, she’s been coming out of the room more and hanging out in other areas of the house. She’s even sleeping more in our bedroom at night! Right picture (Leaf), that’s Leaf’s favorite blanket. she LOVED it since she was a really tiny kitten. It somehow ended up lost for months and months. Finally found it in the hubby’s trunk of the car and as soon as we got it out and washed it, Leaf was in love again and obviously super stoked to have her blanket back. Below is a picture of her when she was a tiny kitten with her blank versus now.

ed166cae-e3a4-43b9-aa26-f2d219236344

And some other random Leaf pictures. Left picture, she was being so weird and wouldn’t stop looking into the lamp, lol. Eventually I had to turn it off, because it’s a really bright light and I didn’t want her to hurt her eyes, because she seriously wouldn’t stop. Right picture, was Leaf trying to lick my eye, haha. She’s such a strange cat, but I love her to death.

The boys! ColbyJack (left) and Dax (right). We celebrated Colby’s fifth birthday recently. I can’t believe he’s already five. He refused to put the birthday hat on as he does every year. I think only two years I’ve actually been able to get it on him, haha. And my pup. he’s forever the cutest.

These last two pictures are just some random pictures I took outside of my house. That’s all for this post! I hope you enjoyed seeing all my pictures. I’ll have my next set of photo a day pictures in the next day or two. I’ll catch up with you guys later this week as well.

Random|| Picture Update.

pictureupdate

Hey!

I haven’t done a picture update post (besides photo a day or travel ones) in a month, so I have quite a lot of pictures to share. My total picture count was a little over 60 pictures. I decided to break it up and put my Disney on Ice pictures in their own post that will probably go up next week. If you follow me on Instagram (heyyitsashley) you may have seen some of these; others haven’t made it there yet, so you’ll get to see them first! Anyway, onto the pictures!

The hubby and I went to walk around Downtown Hollywood (Florida), because they always have new wall art popping up on buildings and I wanted to check them out and get some pictures. Here are some of the ones that we seen. I still have so many more to see though.

These mermaid ones were pretty awesome! It was one giant wall, so it was harder to get the entire seen in a picture. Instead I broke it up into three pictures of the mermaids.

These were some smaller ones or close ups. The parrot one is a smaller one that was on the side of a hotel. The anchor and fishes were a closeup from the mermaids above.

E50A17AA-6B65-4076-B5A8-2CB5A3181D84

I really loved this robot one so much.

1DE5FFAB-ACB3-47EC-9688-236B430AD74F

FLAMINGOS! This one was my all-time favorite one that I seen so far. This is also a big wall. The other side has more flamingos on it, but these two looked the coolest.

5115E22A-32AB-477E-BB2D-0DD9BF7A70DD

This one was across from the mermaids. It was also on a giant wall, so this isn’t even half of it! The other side looks identical though. Really love this one and the colors.

It was National Beer Day on Saturday, so we went to this bar in Downtown Hollywood called Old Hollywood Beerhouse. They sell 200 different beers, so we decided to check out a few of those. I loved all the ones I got (pictured above). The sour wheat ale was probably my favorite. We plan to go back again to try some more. It was a cool vibe there. They played old Hollywood movies on old TVs and played old music on a record player.

Random selfies, because why not?

PIZZA! We love pizza at my house. Right was from when the hubby and I went to go see Love, Simon at the movies. I love that our theater has recliner chairs now.

I am living for dresses lately. I finally got around to wearing my cat one (right) and my sunflower one. I am in love with my sunflower one. My yellow TOMS went perfect with it too.

Weekend Vibes.

32F68F36-8027-498B-9DE8-F0098B0F4355

My nephew Jackson.

I seriously hate these things (all spiders and bugs, really) and this time of year they pop up EVERYWHERE. We probably have 10+ in our backyard. Even little baby ones.

AF382E44-555B-4D59-9378-8D1332D9EDB5

These three above are just some random pictures. The last one of the sunset is really cool though. I took it from the side passenger mirror in the car. It came out really cool.

Little Leaf! She got spayed last Friday. Colby and October HATED her when she came back from getting spayed. They didn’t want to be around her and if she went near them, they would hiss at her. She went to hide in blankets and plastic bags to get away from them. 😦 I guess it’s a thing that happens sometimes with cats when you take one to the vet and bring them home. After about a day, Colby was friendly again with her. October took the entire weekend before they became best friends again.

See! Friends again! 😀

My boys; Colby & Dax.

I bought a lens ball recently, because I seen so many cool pictures on Instagram taken with it. I got the 80mm ball and it has a bit of weight to it and it’s a pretty big size. I also decided to get a 60mm one as well. I was so scared I was going to drop it, haha. I decided to take it down to the railroad tracks and get some pictures. I still need to get the hang of it though and try to get more creative with it. This was just me trying it out since I’ve never used one before! Here are a few of the pictures I got. The left side are the originals and the right side are the rotated versions.

01052317-F1B9-4820-8C63-A84EE3CFB545

And this one was just a random one that I took at my house. I didn’t rotate the picture for this one, because I really liked it like this and how it came out with the lighting. Depending on the picture, sometimes it looks cooler rotated and other times it looks better as it originally is taken (subject being upside down).

Minus the bad lighting in my house, I tried it out with a book. I also figured out that it’s so much easier to hold the lens ball this way versus how I was holding it in all my other pictures, haha. Easier for me anyway, since I have smaller hands and the 80mm is a little big and heavy. I already took all the other pictures before trying it out this way though, lol.

Well, that’s all for this post! My Disney on Ice picture post will come at some point next week. I should also hopefully have a review of Hot Mess. I am hoping to finish it this weekend. I think I am also going to finally get to some of those tags done as well. I currently have eight drafted tag posts that I need to finally work on. I think once I get this next lesson done for school, then I’ll have a little free time to do some tags.

Hey!

Doing a picture/life update, because I haven’t really been reading that much lately. I don’t know if I am necessarily in a reading slump or not though. I am just preoccupied with other things going on or wanting to do other things instead. With that being said, I am still in the middle of Immortal Reign and The Hammer of Thor. I really want to try to finally finish them this week though.

1A3CD2A2-C776-4ECC-8BED-9341A95561EF

BIG THING THOUGH! I signed up for school again! I now have a valid reason for buying ALL THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES. 😛 I already do, but I never use it and feel guilty for spending the money. But now I can finally use the things I bought and buy more. LOL. 😉 I signed up for a Bookkeeping program, which is pretty exciting! I signed up over the weekend. It’s an online school, so I’ll be able to do it from home. I am not sure how much time I’ll have to read now that I am doing online school as well, but I will definitely squeeze in as much as I can. The school is pretty flexible too, so I can work at whatever speed I want. So I can do everything ASAP or I can space it out over 12 months. So that’s a plus! Another cool thing is that my aunt and my older sister are also doing the Bookkeeping program, so we’ll be able to help each other out. My mom is also doing a program too, but hers is something medical related. I think Medical Billing.

8E790667-2108-423B-B88E-038D2E5DD6E1

For my birthday (it was on March 3rd), the hubby and I went to LauderAle to get some beers. We’ve never been to this brewery before and it was such a cool place. We ended up both getting a flight of beer. The ones that I got were Gulfstream Cream, Gozezilla, We Dem Boysenberry, and Black Widow Cider. The hubby got a couple of the ones that I got and a banana pepper one. Mine were so good! The place was really cool and chill. They even had a dog roaming around, which was cool. He would bring you his ball to throw to him. Every day they have a different food truck that you can get food from. They also had this really cool octopus painted on the building and a shark. If you didn’t know, I LOVE sharks. Below is the flight of beers I got and the octopus mural.

Cadbury Mini Eggs and champagne for my birthday. 😀 The hubby got me so many mini bags of mini eggs. HEAVEN! 😛 He also got me some cute socks too. I’ll share them in my haul post later this month. I don’t have a picture of them right now. My mom and sister literally got me a 1.5 pound bag of mini eggs too. HOLY CRAP! Honestly, the best birthday present though. I love those things!

I got a lot of shoes for my birthday this year, LOL! I’ve been obsessed with shoes lately, so it’s what I wanted. HAHA. My mom got me the yellow TOMS (top left), the hubby’s parents got me the pink bow TOMS (top right) and my friend Lauren got me the black skull/cacti VANS. I am freaking obsessed with them all. I’ve never had slip on VANS before and I’ve always wanted some. Now I am obsessed and need more. HAHA.

I’ve been wanting to try out different clothes than I typically get (I love t-shirts & jeans), so my older sister got me these two shirts for my birthday as well. They’re really cute and I am pretty obsessed. The first shirt in the first two pictures is something I wouldn’t typically buy. The second one is one I would typically buy, but I don’t have enough. I like cute designs like that. I also decided to buy a few dresses this weekend. I NEVER wear dresses unless it’s like a cover up for my bathing suit when I go to the beach.

Here are the dresses I got this weekend. Sorry about the lighting. I used just the light coming from my window and I didn’t brighten the pictures up on my phone. My mom and I went to Ross and I picked out a few to buy.

The first was this sunflower one (it’s navy blue) and it came with this gold necklace too. I don’t know if I like the necklace though, haha.

I seen this pink one and had to have it, because it has cats all over it! Plus pink is my favorite color. 😛 BUT THE CATS!!! It’s really cute.

FCD11E49-BFE9-4E71-8AE6-20BC843E214D

Last one I got was this pink one. I really liked the design on the top and it’s loose fitting, which I love. It’s gonna start getting really hot here (t’s forever hot here, but it’s gonna get worse), so it’ll be nice to have some dresses. Like I said, I never wear dresses, so it’ll be interesting trying these out. If I like wearing them, then I’ll buy more.

Here are a few books that I got this month so far! I had to buy Children of Blood and Bone. Super stoked to read it! Little, Brown Books for Young Readers sent me Defy the Stars and Defy the Worlds. I had no idea these were even coming, so that was exciting. I’ll talk more about these books in my haul post at the end of the month. And some other random bookish pictures.

We got a new sofa!! We haven’t had one for a couple months, so it’s nice that we finally have one now! It also reclines! SO COMFY. As you can see, Dax is LIVING for the new sofa. 😛 Leaf LOVES it. She likes to parkour on it and climb in the back. It’s closed with velcro, but she gets it opened and climbs inside. She’s weird. Ocotber and ColbyJack love it too.

6A61E633-2C50-488D-886C-C0FFDCB9F4D7

Here’s a random picture of my three kitties. ColbyJack, October, and Leaf. Love these guys so much.

My mom planted these really cool orange and yellow flowers. They’re pretty cool and pretty.

7B6BCA2E-71B7-404D-89DF-41B5F125DBBD

A random sunset picture I took in the parking lot of the grocery store. Featuring the hubby pushing the cart. I am obsessed with this picture.

That’s all for this post. Feel free to follow me on Instagram to see more. 🙂  A few of these I haven’t had the chance to post on Instagram yet, so you got to see them first.

Hey!

Happy Friday! 😀 So stoked that Friday is finally here and tomorrow (Saturday) is my birthday! That makes the weekend even better! Not entirely sure what we are going to do for my birthday yet, but the carnival is probably one of the things. My older sister and I usually take my niece and nephew every year. This little carnival always lands on my birthday, so we go every year for them. We plan to sit in the beer garden while they play games and go on rides, lol. During the day I’m not sure what we’re gonna d. probably go out to eat with the hubby since he took the day off work.

Last weekend I went to the beach with my older sister, my cousin, and her son. That was a pretty fun time. It was really hot that day though! I got a little sunburned. We also seen dolphins! They were playing and jumping out of the water, but I couldn’t get a picture. Wasn’t fast enough!

After we ate, we went to get something to eat. We chose to eat at this place called Le Tub Saloon. I’ve always wanted to eat there after reading one of Tarryn Fisher’s books. I don’t remember which one it was, but it mentioned this restaurant and I decided to look it up and it’s right on the beach! That was last year I found out about it and FINALLY checked it out. Their decor consists of bathtubs, toilets, toilet seats, etc. LOL. It was interesting. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but here are a couple.

They also serve these HUGE burgers that they said they are well known for. It was 13oz they said and holy crap it was huge! HAHA. It tasted so good though and I was really happy with it. They had some good fries too. I need to go back ASAP!

4070F8F6-5993-4F93-AE31-1D5CBABE609B

Last weekend I also chilled out in the hammock a lot of the day and drank this new blackberry beer that I found at the grocery store. OMG, this beer was freaking amazing! I need to go see if I can get some more, because it was so good. I ended up drinking all six beers, LOL.

I don’t remember if I shared this on here or not, but I got my February Pura Vida Bracelets pack and it was pretty awesome. It was a Valentine’s Day themed one, which was really cool. I also don’t have a lot of pink bracelets, so I was happy. I love their bracelets so much.

50+ bracelets (I also have some anklets too), you guys! I’m not lying when I say I am obsessed with Pura Vida Bracelets, lol.

17305DD8-0986-45D0-8577-8D041C601A42

FLOWERS! I love taking pictures of flowers. Funny story about the yellow ones, so my mom planted this random branch in her garden and sore it was going to grow into something. I didn’t believe it for second, because it looked like a dead broken branch. For a year it didn’t do anything at all. A couple days ago I walk past her garden and these yellow flowers (found out they are called plumeria) grew from it, lol. I guess I was wrong, oops. 😛 Every year around this time, these redish/pink flowers grow next to my sister’s door. They are really neat and pretty. I’m still not sure what they are called. At the time of the picture there was only two, but now there are like 20+!

Onto all the furbaby pictures, because I am obsessed with my babies. My boy, Dax. He’s always so cute. We gave him a haircut, because his hair was getting a little ridiculous, plus it’s going to start getting even hotter here soon.

My girl, October. She’s going to be two this year! Crazy how time flies. I miss her being a tiny kitten, but I still love her so much. I am still and forever obsessed with her face, lol.

My little girl, Leaf. I can’t believe she’s going to be one year’s old in like 4-5 months. It’s hard to believe that I’ve already had her for more than half a year.

She always loves being held and I freaking love her to death for it. She loves all the attention while the others do not, lol.

And my other boy, ColbyJack. I love this guy so much. He’s so needy sometimes though, haha. He’s going to be five years old in 5-6 months, which is just crazy! When I first got him he was the tiniest little kitten and now he’s this big chubby cat, haha.

Leaf & ColbyJack. Sometimes they do love each other. Most of the time Colby can’t stand Leaf. She’s too crazy for him.

I believe that’s all for this post! I think I’ve pretty much shared all my other pictures. Feel free to follow me on Instagram to see more. 🙂

I also have a Bookstagram account as well, but I haven’t been able to use it as much lately. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get back into it like I used to be. Since moving into a smaller place and currently in the process of moving again, it’s just harder to take pictures. I also packed up over half of my books too, so that’s that.
