What are you currently reading?

boyfriendmaterial

I am currently reading Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. I am enjoying it so much. I am actually almost done with it and hoping to finally finish it today. Review to come. 🙂

What’s your favorite can’t-leave-the-house activity?

animalcrossingp17894666_b_v13_aa

I should say reading, right? Sadly, that hasn’t been my favorite can’t-leave-the-house activity lately. I really wish that it was, but I am just not reading that much while stuck at home. I can’t seem to focus for very long on books and find myself doing other things. Right now, my favorite activity would have to be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’ve also been watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, and within 2.5 months I watched 12 seasons! I can’t believe I watched that many seasons in such a short time. It’s such a great show though and I’m having a lot of fun watching it. I guess you can see part of why I haven’t been reading much.

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?

youngelitescarvethemarkillgiveyouthesun

The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Can I say all the books on my bookshelves? 😛 There’s seriously so many books that I’ve been meaning to read forever and just never got around to it. I guess these would be my top three that I’ve been meaning to read.

An intimidating book on your TBR?

outlander

I think it will forever be Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, but the page count terrifies me LOL. I started watching the series and I really like it though, so maybe it’ll give me the push to actually start it?

Top 3 priority books on your TBR?

morethanthissolitairethetoll

More Than This by Patrick Ness
Solitaire by Alice Oseman
The Toll by Neal Shusterman

I should focus on my ARCs and I will, but non-ARC related priority books would have to be these three. I want to finally read these three books before the end of the year. I started More Than This, but couldn’t get into it so I put it down. I want to give it a second chance. Solitaire I’ve been really wanting to read for a while now since I love Heartstopper. And I really want to finish the Arc of Scythe trilogy because I love it so much.

Recommend a short book.

theoutsiders

I will forever recommend reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It’s such an amazing story for being just under 200 pages! I reread it all the time.

Recommend a long book.

IMAGINARYFRIEND

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky. I loved this book so much. Here is part of my mini review that I wrote about it last year.

“I am not entirely sure how to start this review or how great this review will end up being, because I have no idea what I even read. I say that in the best way possible though, because Imaginary Friend was INSANE, but so good! It was crazy and it kept me on the edge of my seat on every 700+ page! It was weird and it was creepy. I had dreams about this book multiple times throughout reading it. I had no idea what was happening or what the outcome would be and it drove me crazy, haha. I was trying to figure out what was going to happen next and I just couldn’t. I was constantly surprised and hit with so many feels. I shed a lot of tears while reading this story as well as every other feeling you can imagine.”

Something you’d love to do while stuck at home.

Last year we bought a house and I would love to finally buy paint and repaint the inside of the house. We painted three of the bedrooms, but I would love to finally paint all the other rooms in the house, and maybe do some other house projects.

What do you plan on reading next?

felixeverafterstrungoutbeachread

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
Strung Out by Erin Khar
Beach Read by Emily Henry

I’m not really sure what I will read next, because there is so many books that I want to read but I’m also in this major reading slump as well, so it’s kind of hard to get into anything. I think I may go with one of these three books as my next read. Have your read any of these? If so, which one should I read first?

As for tagging, I tag everyone that hasn’t done this tag yet and feel free to link me to your post, so that I can check out your answers! 😀

I know I haven’t been the best blogger this year and I really hope that changes soon. I just haven’t really felt in the mood to read or blog as much. I do get on to read your posts at least once a week though. Last month you guys may have seen that I only read one book and so far this month it is looking about the same. So far, I’ve only read one book (hopefully finishing it today) and I listened to one audiobook. I don’t know why, but my head just isn’t there lately. I don’t even sleep at night anymore, which sucks. There will be some days where I don’t even go to sleep until 5am and most days it’s 3-4am. Most days I get like three or four hours of sleep a night/morning. I’m just all over the place in my head, I guess. Sigh.

Anyway, that’s all for this post! I hope you had fun reading my answers. I will get back on to blog hop later tonight. I have mountains of laundry to do and laundry is NOT fun.  I will leave you with a picture of the sunset in my backyard from the other day.

Book Tag|| Goodreads.

booktag

Hey!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a tag, so I decide that today was the day. I’m not sure where this tag originated from (if you know, feel free to let me know, so I can credit!), but I seen one of my friends answer these questions in in their journal and decided to do it on my blog. It’s a Goodreads survey (or tag), so all my answers go along with what I have on my Goodreads account and speaking of Goodreads, feel free to add me as a friend. 🙂 Here are the questions & answers:

What are the five newest additions to your to-read list?

I have two shelves of books that have books that I want to read and these are just from the books that I do NOT own yet.

somethingiskillthechildrenaosawamurderslovecreekwoodbridgeofsoulscatinevernamed

Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV
The Aosawa Murders by Riku Onda
Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli
Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab
The Cat I Never Named by Amra Sabic-El-Rayess

What are the five oldest additions to your to-read list?

I have two shelves of books that have books that I want to read and these are just from the books that I do NOT own yet.

artofbeingnormalwillfulmachinesbloodredroadlambtotheslaughterfivestages

The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Willful Machines by Tim Floreen
Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Lamb to the Slaughter by Karen Ann Hopkins
The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by David Shaun Hutchison

How many books do you have listed as read?

I currently have 594 books marked as “read”! That’s pretty crazy to me, honestly. A little shocked that I have read almost 600 books. Blogging definitely helped with that, because before I started blogging I wasn’t reading nearly as much as I do now.

How many books are in your to-read-list?

I have two different shelves of books to read, so total together I have 1089 books on my to-read list. I know I probably won’t get to the majority of them in my lifetime, haha. I kind of want to go through my Goodreads shelf at some point this year and remove some. I actually think that is one of my goals for this year that I talked about back in January.

Are there any authors who are more heavily represented in your have read list?

A few authors that I have read a lot of books from are Rick Riordan, Mitch Albom, and Colleen Hoover.

Are there any authors who are more heavily represented in your to-read list?

A few authors that I want to read a lot of their books are Morgan Matson and Kasie West. I own a lot of their books and haven’t read them and the ones that I don’t own, I have them marked on my “to-read” shelf.

How do you sort your books?

I have a few shelves that I sort my books into. I have the standard “read” shelf and then I make shelves each year for audiobooks that I’ve listened to. That way I know what was audiobook and what was not. I have the standard “want to read” shelf and then I have another shelf I created called “TBR books I own” of the books that I want to read that I own.

Do you participate in the 2020 reading challenge?

Yes, I am participating in the 2020 reading challenge. I currently have my challenge set to read 50 books this year. It was 60 at the beginning of the year but I had to lower it, because I haven’t really been reading as much as I usually do.

Do you participate in any discussion groups?

Nope, I don’t think I have ever participated in the discussion groups on Goodreads before.

How many books have you read so far this year?

So far, I have read 17 books. 16 books I read myself and one audiobook. I’m actually kind of bummed that I haven’t read more books this year. I guess 17 is still decent though and the year is not over!

How many books are you currently reading?

jackofhearts

I am currently only reading one book, which is Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by Lev A.C. Rosen. So far, I really like it.

Do you write reviews? Do you read reviews?

I write reviews on my blog and then I copy them over to Goodreads afterward. I do sometimes read reviews too.

Any other Goodreads feature you use?

I don’t really use many of the Goodreads features other than rating books, shelving books, and sometimes the Giveaway page.

Do you follow any interesting authors or other people worth mentioning?

I don’t know? Haha. I just follow some of my favorite authors over there like Rick Riordan, Mitch Albom, Colleen Hoover, Veronica Roth, and Morgan Rhodes.

This was a lot of fun to do and I would love to see your answers as well. So, if you want to do this tag, feel free to link me to your posts. || Hopefully, I will catch up with your posts and reply to comments this weekend. 🙂 I am hoping to finish my current read today (or tomorrow), so I want to spend some time reading today. If I can get this finished, maybe I will have time to squeeze in one more book before the end of the month. *fingers crossed*

Book Tag|| New Year’s Resolution.

booktag

Hi!

I seen the New Year’s Resolution book tag over on Kristin’s blog Kristin Kraves Books and thought it would be fun to do since it’s the start of  a new year!

An author you’d like to read that you’ve never read:

thesmallestpart

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon

I really want to check out Amy Harmon’s books. They always sound so interesting and I always see good reviews about them. I have the e-book of The Smallest Part, so maybe I’ll finally check out something by her this year.

A book you’d like to read:

infinityson

Infinity Son by Adam Silvera

Infinity Son is one of my highly anticipated reads of the year and I really hope I read it this year. I am so bad at never reading my highly anticipated books as soon as I get them and a year+ will go by before I finally grab it off my shelf. I need to be better about this, haha. I am really excited to see what Adam does with a fantasy novel.

A classic you’d like to read:

janeeyre

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I’m not really that big a fan of classics, but I think I would like to read Jane Eyre. I also have this really cool edition of it that when you fold the pages it’ll spell out “READ”. I’ve had it for years and wanted it as a decoration for my bookshelves, but I also wanted to do it as I read through the book and never have. Maybe I finally will this year?

A book you’d like to re-read:

FALLINGKINGDOMS

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

I don’t really reread books that often, but I would like to reread the Falling Kingdoms series. I read the whole series back in 2018 I believe and I love it so much. I would love to read it again.

A book you’ve had for ages and want to read:

emmy

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

This is a tough one, because I own so many books that I’ve had for years and have yet to read. I think I will go with Emmy & Oliver, because it’s one I’ve had for a really long time and it was also one that at the time it was released was one of my highly anticipated releases that I never got to.

A big book you’d like to read:

queenofairanddarkness

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

Big books scare me! I always tend to listen to audiobooks for those bigger books. That’s what I will probably end up doing with Queen of Air and Darkness at some point this year. I am actually (surprisingly) enjoying the Dark Artifices series and I am really looking forward to this third book. According to Goodreads this book has 900+ pages.

An author you’ve previously read and would like to read more of:

Permanent Record by Mary H.K. Choi

I read Emergency Contact a couple years ago and loved it so much. I would love to read more books from Mary H.K. Choi. I have the book that she published last year called Permanent Record and haven’t had the chance to read it yet. Hoping to finally read it at some point this year. I believe she even has a new one being released this year too.

A book you got for Christmas and would like to read:

ninthhouse

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

One of the books that I got for Christmas this year was Ninth House. I really enjoy Leigh Bardugo’s books, so I definitely want to try to read this one at some point this year.

A series you want to read from start to finish:

hiddenoracle

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

I would love to finally start The Trials of Apollo series. I love Rick Riordan’s books and I have yet to start this series. I believe there is a book five coming out in the Fall of this year, so maybe I will finally start the series once book five is released. I am really stoked for the series.

A series you want to finish that you’ve already started:

jackaby

Jackaby by William Ritter

I read Jackaby last year and I really loved it. I would love to get the other books in the series and finish it. I had so much fun reading it, so I think I would really enjoy the rest of the series as well. I think I actually have the e-book for the sequel, so hopefully soon!

Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2020?

I do set myself some reading goals, which I will link my blog post of all those goals at the end of this post. I am not always the best at sticking to them, but I still like to make a list. As for how many books I want to read this year, I have my Goodreads challenge goal at 60 books. That doesn’t include audiobooks (I count them separately). Last year I was able to read 63 books, so hopefully I will be able to again and more!

My family is coming to visit again for the weekend and I’m looking forward to that. We were supposed to take my niece to to Busch Gardens last Saturday for her birthday, but it ended up raining so we decided to save it for this weekend. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tomorrow, but the weather has been kind of iffy on my weather app, so I really have no idea. Anyway, I will catch up with you guys later this weekend. 🙂

Book Tag|| Christmas Book Blogger.

booktag

Hey!

I was tagged by Alexandra from Whimsy Pages to do the Christmas book blogger tag. I love Christmas and knew I had to do this tag too. Continuing reading to see questions and my answers. 🙂

❄ What Is Your Favorite Christmas Scene In A Book?

I haven’t really read many Christmassy books, so I am going to go with Christmas at Hogwarts as my favorite Christmas scene in a book.

❄ Do You Have Any Christmas Book Traditions?

homealone2homealone2

I don’t really have any Christmas book traditions. Maybe I’ll start a new one? I did read Home Alone 2: Lost in New York children’s book this month, so maybe I’ll make it a point to read it every single year before I watch the movie. It’s one of my favorite movies.

❄ Do You Prefer To Get Presents Of Book Vouchers Or Books?

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter. They both result in new books, so it’s a win either way haha. It’s rare that anyone buys me books for Christmas, which is sad! I want all the books!

❄ Do You Give Books As Presents?

I don’t give books as presents often. I have a few times, but that’s pretty rare too. My family isn’t that big into reading. I did buy three books for my younger sister this year though. She actually requested them, which was a first.

❄ What Bookish Item Is On Your Christmas Wishlist?

I am in real need for  a new Kindle, because mine doesn’t hold a charge for very long anymore and I’ve had it for four years now. So I have a white Kindle with a back light (mine doesn’t have one) on my Christmas wishlist. I already exchanged gifts with my family and sadly didn’t get it. Always next year! 😛

❄ What 3 Books Would You Love Santa To Have In His Sack For You?

princecharmingOnEarthWereBrieflyGorgeousdragonpearl

I would love from Santa to bring me Prince Charming (Rachel Hawkins), On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous (Ocean Vuong), and Dragon Pearl (Yoon Ha Lee).

❄ Fake Christmas Tree Or Real Christmas Tree?

I’ve always wanted a real tree, but we always end up getting a fake tree. They are so much easier and in the long run, cheaper because you get to use the same one every year instead of spending money to get a real one each year.

❄ What’s Your Favorite Thing About Christmas?

My favorite thing about Christmas is buying gifts for my family and friends, because I love picking things out for them and seeing their faces when they open their gifts.

❄ What Christmas Book Would You Recommend?

dashandlilysbookofdarestwelvedaysofdashandlily

I haven’t really read many Christmas books, so this is a tough one. I really liked Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares and the sequel as well. They were fun Christmas books.

❄ What Dish On Your Christmas Menu Are You Most Looking Forward To?

I have no idea, haha. All of it? 😛 I really liked deviled eggs too, so I guess I am looking forward to those every year.

❄ When Do You Open Your Christmas Presents?

We usually open them on Christmas morning (December 25th). This year we are spending Christmas with the husband’s family, which is exciting.

❄ What’s Your Favorite Christmas Song?

hanson

I love all the Christmas songs, haha. One of my favorites would have to be from the Hanson Christmas album Snowed In, lol. The song is called Merry Christmas Baby.

❄ Are You Dreaming Of A White Christmas?

I am forever dreaming of a white Christmas, but this is Florida and it doesn’t snow here. So I guess I will just keep dreaming.

I tag anyone that wants to do this! I would love to see your answers, so feel free to link me to your posts so I can check them out. 🙂 And I will leave you with a picture I took this weekend. My family and I went to this Christmas event in Celebration (town in Florida). It was fun seeing all the decorations and watching some bands play Christmas songs.

Book Tag||Book Addiction.

booktag

Hey!

I seen the Addiction Book Tag over on Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books blog and decided that I wanted to do it as well! Check out  my answers below and make sure to go check out Marie’s blog. She’s one of my favorite bloggers and posts so many great discussion posts and has all the best book recommendations!

Questions:

1) What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?

+ I would probably say like a day or two. If I don’t pick up a book I start to feel a little guilty, especially since I have so many books that I haven’t read yet.

2) How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?

+ I don’t usually take physical books out when I go places (don’t want to risk the damage), but I usually always have my Kindle with me. I think I have about 50 books downloaded to my Kindle now and of course I have like 400+ in the cloud haha.

3) Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?

+ I don’t keep every book that I buy/receive. If I don’t like it, I usually give it away or donate it. If I decide to do an unhaul of books I don’t plan to reread or that I don’t plan to read at all, then I usually give them away or donate them. I don’t have a problem with passing them to someone else, so I can make space for more. I rather keep books that I love or know that I really want to read than to have a ton of books taking up space for new books that I really want/love.

4) How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?

+ I could spend all day there if the hubby let me, haha. I like to make sure I have looked at every single book on the shelves, so I don’t miss anything.

5) How much time per day do you actually spend reading?

+ Not a lot, actually. Maybe an hour or two a day. It’s also not usually straight through either, because sometimes I get distracted with picking up my phone. I could spend several hours listening to an audiobook while I’m working though. I also like to watch TV shows too, so I split my time between reading and watching TV.

6) Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?

+ Usually right after work or dinner? I have no idea, haha. I just pick one up whenever, but it’s usually at the top of the list if I don’t have other things I need to do first.

7) How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?

+ In total I own almost 1000 books! Fun fact, but also not so fun for my bank account, I accumulated that many books in just 3.5 years! I think I owned maybe 50 books (mostly e-books) before I started blogging in 2015. A little over 500 are physical books and a little over 450 are e-books. You can check out all the books I own over here. I last updated the pages a month ago.

D0CB4320-15CF-45DC-BBB2-063DC0E58A8F

8) Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?

+ I don’t usually bring up books that often in conversation, because the people in my real life don’t really read books. I might mention something once in awhile to the hubby, but that’s about it.

9) What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?

+ Hmm….according to Goodreads the biggest book that I have read was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (870 pages according to Goodreads). I actually listened to that one on audiobook, so maybe it doesn’t count? Bigger books terrify me, so I usually listen to them on audiobook. The biggest book that I actually read myself (not audio) was City of Heavenly Fire (725 pages according to Goodreads).

10) Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds (i.e searching bookshops, online digging, etc.)?

+ I don’t think I’ve had this problem. The only thing I can think that fits this question is that if a book isn’t out in the US, then I order from online so I can have a copy. I’ve done that with a few books.

11) A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?

+ City of Heavenly Fire, haha. I really liked the Mortal Instruments from book 1-4, but after that they just started to go downhill for me. Even in book four is when it started to lose my interest. I feel like it should have ended after book three instead of dragging on. It took me around six months to finish that book. I felt like since I got halfway through it and forced my way through the series, then I had to see how it ended. I really didn’t like it all that much. I honestly would have LOVED the series so much if it stopped at book three. Now I just don’t really know how I feel about the series.

12) What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?

+ Read 60 books by myself. Meaning don’t include audiobooks into that number.
+ Reading the Alphabet challenge, which I have done horribly at.
+ Read my unfinished series, which I have done pretty bad at.
You can check out more of my 2019 bookish goals over here.

13) Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?

+ I’m not really sure. I don’t think so. My older sister is the only one that really reads and I gave her my Kindle login info, so she has read a lot of the books I have on there. That’s about it. But even then, she doesn’t always read. She takes months/year breaks sometimes. She’ll read all the time and then just take really long breaks before reading again.

14) Describe what books mean to you in five words.

+ Books mean everything to me!

I tag anyone that wants to take part in this tag! Feel free to link me to your posts, so I can check them out. 😀 And just because…here are some random pictures my furbabies with my books.

I am off to Universal Studios tomorrow (Saturday) with the hubby, my childhood best friend, and her husband. I am really looking forward to hanging out with them again and to be going to Universal Studios. Universal Studios is having a water light show event, so we want to check that out and of course get some Butterbeer from Harry Potter World. 😛

Tag|| This or That.

booktag

Hey!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a tag on my blog. I am going to just jump right into it. Thank you Crystal @ Paper Royalty for tagging me to do the This or That Challenge. 🙂

INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT

I am definitely an introvert. People give me anxiety. Social situations give me anxiety. I much prefer a quiet place. It’s actually kind of annoying, because a lot of the things I want to do in life involve people or crowds of people….the struggle.

WIN THE LOTTERY OR WORK AT THE PERFECT JOB

This is a tough one, but I think I would probably rather win the lottery. I honestly just want to travel the world and take pictures, so if I won the lottery it would make that happen for me.

READING OR WRITING

100% reading. I am not a very good writer and I don’t really have any creative stories floating around in my head and wouldn’t even know where to begin. Books though…I want to read ALL THE BOOKS.

BREAKFAST OR NO BREAKFAST

I wasn’t really a breakfast person, but now that I started to work from home I eat breakfast. I usually eat yogurt and apples for breakfast.

MARVEL OR DC

Neither. I don’t like superhero stuff, to be honest. I think I’ve only ever watched like two superhero movies before and never read any comics. They just don’t interest me.

TV SHOWS OR MOVIES

I would have to go with TV shows. Movies are great and all, but I much rather watch a TV show. Sometimes it feels like there is too much invested time into watching a movie and with a TV show they are usually 30-minutes, so it doesn’t feel like forever. Even though I end up binge watching an entire season/series in one day. LOL. I just like the idea that I can stop after an episode, but you can’t really do that with a movie. Also, TV show episodes can be different than the previous ones; which is nice.

FRENCH FRIES OR SALAD

Ooooh this is a hard question, because I LOVE french fries. I would go with salad though, because you can change up a salad in so many different ways. I’ve also been eating a salad every single day for lunch for the last 2-3 months and I don’t hate it. 😛

DYED HAIR OR NATURAL COLOURS

I always pin ideas of different ways to dye my hair, but it makes me nervous haha. So right now it’s forever natural.

LEGGINGS OR JEANS

I am more of a leggings person, because I can never find jeans that fit me the way that I want them to. Like just recently I ordered skinny jeans online at Target but when I got them…they were NOT skinny jeans on me. That’s one of my huge problems. I have skinny legs and pant/jean legs NEVER fit me correctly. Blehhhh. So leggings all the way.

DISNEY CLASSIC OR PIXAR

I haven’t really watched a Disney or Pixar movie in such a long time. If I had to choose, I guess I would go with Disney Classic. I love Aladdin & Peter Pan so much.

Hey!

Today is my Friday, because I get to have tomorrow (actually Friday) off work. Super stoked about that! I decided to request it off because it’s my mom’s birthday and we have family from out of state visiting. On Saturday we’re having a birthday party for her, which will be cool! 😀 Anyway, I was tagged by Avery from Red Rocket Panda to do the Anonymous Bookaholics tag. You should go check out Avery’s blog! 🙂

Questions:

What do you like about buying new books?

I love the look and feel of books. Especially if they have bright colorful artwork on the cover or pretty fonts. I also love having my bookshelves all set up with so many books on it. It’s actually killing me right now that I currently do not have any bookshelves and that all my books are packed away. I miss being able to stare at them and admire them, lol. Hopefully soon this changes! But honestly, I just LOVE books, reading them, collecting them, everything! GIVE ME ALL THE BOOKS!!!!

How often do you buy new books?

I don’t buy books too often these days, because I already have so many that I need to read and I am also trying to save money. I might buy a few a month or go months without buying. I used to buy TONS every single month though, but have since stopped.

Bookstore or online book shopping – Which do you prefer?

I love checking out different bookstores, but because I don’t have a ton of money I usually buy online. It’s cheaper online, sadly.

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

I don’t really have a favorite bookshop. There was a used bookshop here called Second Edition Book Shop and they had a cat named Catsby that lived there. I really liked going there and checking out all the books that they got in. Sadly the book shop closed down though. 😦

Do you pre-order books?

I do pre-order books. I usually only pre-order my auto-buy authors’ new books or a book that I absolutely cannot live without and need it on release day, lol. But mostly it’s just my auto-buy authors that I pre-order.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

No monthly limit, but I try not to spend a ton of money a month when I do buy books. So I guess I try to limit myself to $30-50 if I do happen to buy some books.

How big is your wishlist?

My Goodreads TBR is kind of crazy long right now of the books that I want to read that I don’t own, lol. I do have an Amazon wishlist of books though and it’s pretty decent sized. It’s 100+ books, LOL. UGHHH.

Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own NOW?

starryeyeshereticillustratedlightning

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry
The Lightning Thief Illustrated Edition by Rick Riordan
* Percy linked to Amazon, because I couldn’t find on Goodreads*

I just recently found out that there is now an illustrated edition of The Lightning Thief and I seriously need to own it like ASAP! That $25 price tag though has me hesitating, ughhhh! I love Rick Riordan so much though and I love Percy Jackson. I added it to my Christmas wishlist too, so we’ll see what happens. If not, I might have to breakdown and spend the money. I’ve also been eyeing Starry Eyes FOREVER! I also found out about Heretics Anonymous a few months ago and it sounds so good and I need it!

I Tag:

Maren (The Worn Bookmark)
Aimee (Aimee, Always)
Kelly (Another Book in the Wall)
Lilly (Lair of Books)
Kristin (Kristin Kraves Books)

And anyone else that wants to do this tag! It was a lot of fun and I would love to see your answers. So feel free to link me to your posts if you decide to do it.

Book Tag||My Blog’s Name in Books.

booktag

Hey!

I seen Yvo over at It’s All About Books post this “My Blog’s Name in Books” tag and I thought it looked fun, so I am doing it too! This book meme was originally started by Lynne from Fictionophile. My blog’s name is pretty long, so this should be interesting. I used the books on my Goodreads shelf of the TBR books that I own. All linked to Goodreads.

THE RULES:

1.  Spell out your blog’s name. (this is where you wish your blog’s name was shorter LOL)

2. Find a book from your TBR that begins with each letter. (Note you cannot ADD to your TBR to complete this challenge – the books must already be on your Goodread’s TBR)

3. Have fun!

A a couple of these I don’t technically have YET, but they are preordered so I will have them as soon as they release this year. All of these are books that I have been dying to read and just haven’t gotten around to reading them for whatever reason. I am hoping to finally read some of them this year and if not then maybe I’ll make a reading challenge out of this list next year and try to read all of these. 😛

Have you read any of these books? Which book/s should I read ASAP? Feel free to link me to your post if you have done this tag or plan to do this tag, so I can check it out.

Book Tag|| 20 Questions.

booktag

Hey!

I was tagged by Lilly from Lair of Books to do the 20 questions tag. Go check out Lilly’s blog! Her blog is one of my favorites to read and she’s super cool! I am so far behind on doing tags (I have a ton of drafts started, so I know what tags I need to do), so hopefully this will get me in the mood to finally catch up on all those tags!

The Questions:

How many books is too many books in a book series?

+ This is a tough one, because it all really depends on the series. I think I’ll go with five books. I think after that then it’s usually a bit much. I do love the Falling Kingdoms series so much though and that’s six. 😛

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

+ I have a love/hate for cliffhangers. I love them because they are usually really crazy and leave me a wreck. I hate them because if the series isn’t already completely published, then I have to wait until I can read the next book. The wait almost always kills me more than the cliffhanger.

Hardback or paperback?

+ Hmmm….I guess I’ll choose hardback for my official answer. They are a lot prettier and look nicer on my bookshelves. I do love paperbacks though, they are a lot easier to read, not as heavy lol.

Favorite book?

psycho

+ Psycho by Robert Bloch. I loved this book so much. I love that they made a TV show based on Norman Bates (Bates Motel). I actually think this is a series too, but I never got around to reading the other books. I would love to get my hands on copies of them though and read them.

Least favorite book?

cursethelaststarshockofthefallilluminaewewereliars

+ This is a tough question, because I’m not really sure what I would say is my least favorite book. Here are five books that I either gave a 1 or 2 stars to.  The Curse Keepers, The Last Star, The Shock of the Fall, Illuminae, and We Were Liars. Unpopular opinion with Illuminae, but oh well. It was not my jam. I think a lot of people loved We Were Liars too, but I thought it was so boring. I don’t even want to get on the topic of The Last Star, UGHH.

Love triangles, yes or no?

+ No thanks. I find them a bit annoying.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

ihateeveryonebutyou

+ The last book that I could not finish was I Hate Everyone But You by Gaby Dunn. I couldn’t get into it. It was boring. I didn’t like the characters.

A book you’re currently reading?

9781525811418.indd

+ I am currently reading Hot Mess by Emily Belden and also Member of the Family by Dianne Lake. I am hoping to have both of these books finished this week.

Last book you recommended to someone?

roankegirls

+ The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. I told my sister she needed to read it, because it was just so crazy and disturbing.

Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

+ The oldest book I read was The Day Boy and the Night Girl by George MacDonald. It was originally published in 1882. It’s actually one of my favorite stories too.

Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

Love and Other Carnivorous Plantsimmortalreign

+ The newest book that I read was Love & Other Carnivorous Plants by Florence Gonsalves. It actually doesn’t get published until May 15, 2018. The newest book I read that is already released though is Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes.

Favorite author?

+ I’m going to go with Mitch Albom and Rick Riordan for this one. So far I have really enjoyed all of their books that I’ve read. They are also some of my auto-buy authors.

Buying books or borrowing books?

+ I like buying books, but I don’t mind borrowing them. I usually check out e-books and audiobooks from my library a lot.

A book you dislike that everyone else seem to love?

courtfury

+ A Court of Mist and Fury. ACOMAF was not the greatest and also why I don’t even know if I can pick up another Sarah J. Maas book again, to be honest. It was boring a lot of the time, Feyre was annoying AF, Maas messed Tamlin up BADLY. LIKE WTF? It was like he was a completely different person than he was in the first book. Feyre did so much in the first book for her love with Tamlin and then it was completely thrown out the window in this book like it didn’t mean anything. I’m just confused by the entire thing, to be honest. What was the point of ACOTAR? ACOMAF took everything from the first book and threw it out the window. It just shouldn’t have ever existed with what she did with ACOMAF, to be honest. Such a disappointment, because I absolutely loved ACOTAR. I don’t know if I will be continuing the series or not. Haven’t decided.

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

+ Bookmarks! I feel guilty even accidentally messing up any of the pages in my books. I probably have like 100+ bookmarks.

A book you can always reread?

harryenclave

+ Harry Potter series or the Razorland series. I love these two series so much. I am in need of a Harry Potter reread ASAP.

Can you read while hearing music?

+ Not usually. I lose focus on the story if I do. I like complete silence. I discovered this group called Sparrow Sleeps and they do lullaby covers of some of my favorite bands/songs. I end up singing along (even though there are no words), haha.

One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views)

+ I prefer one POV. Sometimes multiple POVs annoy me, especially if there are a TON of them. I read a book once that had like seven POVs and I ended up hating the book. I better connect with the characters when it’s only one. Maybe even two. With the exception of the Falling Kingdoms series….Morgan Rhodes made it easy to connect with all of them. It seems like Falling Kingdoms is the exception for everything. LOL.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

+ Rarely do I ever read a book in one sitting. I am not going to lie, I get distracted a lot (stupid iPhone). So I’ll read some pages, scroll through my phone, read some pages, scroll through my phone, etc. So I usually read over multiple days. There have been a handful of times where I have read books in one sitting though.

A book you’ve read because of the cover?

+ Almost all of them? LOL. Not going to lie, I tend to only look up books if I see a cover that I really love and then I’ll go check out what it’s about. I know that’s bad, haha. But I am guilty of this 9 out of 10 times.

Tag|| The Book Blogger Insider.

booktag

Hey!

I’ve been slacking with tags over the last year and I want to get back into doing them. I think my last tag was even in February 2017 (LOL). I also have been tagged a lot recently and need to play catch up! I was tagged by Avery from Red Rocket Panda to do the Book Blogger Insider tag.

Rules:
1. Answer the questions below
2. Credit the creator Jamie @ALittleSliceofJamie
3. Tag at least 5 people
4. Have fun!

Questions:

Where do you typically write your blog posts?
+
My blog posts actually start as drafts in my “notes” app or as a draft in my email that I later paste and fix up on my blog at a later time. I’m not always near a computer, so I usually draft them on my phone to post later when I am at a computer and can preview them.

How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
+
Honestly, it depends on how I felt about the book. Sometimes I can write them in minutes and other times it can take a lot longer.

When did you start your book blog?
+
I started my blog in January 2015. Ahhh, crazy that it’s already been three years of having my blog. I honestly didn’t think it would last this long.

What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
+
I think coming up with content to post about is one of the worst things about blogging. Sometimes I have no idea what to post about, so I end up not posting at all and I hate doing that.

What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
+
One of the best things is connecting with other bloggers. I love reading other bloggers posts and interacting with them. I’ve met so many awesome bloggers and have had so many cool experiences and opportunities because of blogging.

What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
+ I always have fun doing my picture update posts. I love sharing my pictures and adventures with you guys. You can check out my “photography” tag/category linked here to see posts I’ve done over the years. This also can be listed as my favorite type of blog post as well (next question), but I’ll do a book related one.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?
+ Book related, I like to do the WWW Wednesday meme. If you’re not sure what that is, here is an example of my most recent one. You basically update about what you’re reading, what you just finished reading, and what you plan to read next. I like sharing what I’ve been reading throughout the week and seeing what everyone else is reading.

When do you typically write?
+
I usually write them in the mornings before work or at the end of the day after work, to post the next day.

Do you review every book you read?
+
I do not review every book I read. I used to do that, but for some reason I stopped. Right now I usually review super new releases or ARCs. I want to get back into reviewing more books though. That’s one of the reasons why I started this blog in the first place.

How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?
+
I don’t have a typical “how” or anything like that when it comes to writing reviews. I just sit at the computer and type away. I don’t like too many distractions when I do reviews, because then I can’t ever focus on what I am trying to write about.

When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
+
Sometimes I’ll write them right after and other times it can take a day or two. It just depends on how I feel after I read the book. Sometimes I need type to digest everything I’ve read and sort through my thoughts. Other times I already know what I want to say and start writing right away.

How often do you post?
+
Honestly, it varies. Some weeks I’ll post every day. Other weeks I’ll post a few times a week. Sometimes I even skip a week. I get into blogging slumps a lot (which also goes along with the “worst part about blogging”) and just not in the mood to blog.

Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag.

secret-life-of-book-blogger-copy1

Hi 🙂

I was nominated by Ana from Ana’s Lair for the Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag. Go check out her blog! Thank you Ana for the nomination!

1. How long have you been a blogger?

+ I started my blog back in 2011, but I never really kept up with it and I only had my bestie following me. I officially started this new blog 6-7 months ago; in January.

2. At what point do you think you will stop?

+ I’m not sure when I will stop or if I ever will! I love doing it and as love as I love doing it, I will keep with it!

3. What is the best thing?

+ One of the best things is getting to meet and talk to fellow bloggers! It’s been fun to share my love for books and talk with others that love them just as much as I do.

4. What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

+ I guess not being able to come up with posts to do! Tags and weekly memes help with that most of the time.

5. How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

+ Most of the time I use pictures that I personally took myself. Sometimes I’ll search for gifs to use in my blog posts and it doesn’t usually take too long.

6. Who is your book crush?

+ OMG…I have so many book crushes! This year my really big book crush would have to be Raffe from the Penyrn and the End of Days series. Go check out the series! Angelfall is the first book!

7. What author would you like to have on your blog?

+ ALL OF THEM!? If I had to choose, I would probably go with Becky Albertalli (author of Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda). She’s such a cool person and we’ve tweeted a bunch of times and it’s always been fun.

8. What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

+ It all depends on where I’m at, to be honest. I mostly do them in the morning after I get dressed for work though, so I’m usually just wearing pants and a t-shirt, lol. Nothing fancy, haha.

9. How long does it take you to prepare?

+ Sometimes I do my posts in advanced and then over the days leading up to when I plan to post, I’ll tweak them a bit. If I don’t do it in advanced, then it probably takes me about 30 minutes. Sometimes I’ll type up things on my phone to save for later for my blog.

10. How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

+ I love the book blogger community and I am so excited that I created this blog and have been able to be apart of it! There are so many awesome bloggers and it’s exciting to meet you all and talk to you all!

11. What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?

+ Post at least a few times a week, use pictures (even if it’s just book covers), use tags (tags are wonderful things and it gets your posts out there to everyone), and engage with other bloggers. It’s fun getting likes and it’s also great getting comments. You engage better that way and you get to know other bloggers better.

I nominate you all to do this! It’s a fun little tag to have on your blog and it may be helpful to other bloggers as well. I would love to see your answers, so link me to your posts if you choose to do it! 🙂

I have some random pictures to share with you from 4th of July weekend. You may have seen these on Instagram if you follow me.

IMG_9249IMG_9375

I tried to get ColbyJack (my cat, if you’re new to my blog) a picture with the little hat on as well, but he was not having it! It’s hard enough to get him in his little birthday hat on his birthday, so trying with this hat was a huge fail. I got Dax and Bella to do it though! 😛

So I don’t leave him out of the post though, here is ColbyJack doing what he does best! 😛

would you rather book tag.

Hi 🙂

I seen this tag over at Marie’s (drizzle and hurricane books) blog and I thought it looked like a lot of fun! I’m also killing time before the party we are having starts! What better way than a fun book tag? 🙂

>>Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?

+ I think I would probably go with standalones! I love a good trilogy, but I have started so many trilogies and series that I am kind of overwhelmed with it! I know there also so many unfinished ones that I started that I really need to finish! It can get kind of chaotic!

>>Would you rather only read male or female authors?

+ This is kind of hard to answer! I love books by all, but I guess if I really had to choose than I guess I would choose female. There have been amazing books that I read by females that you would probably think a male would have written.

>>Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?

+ Although Barnes & Noble is more convenient, because you can have the books right away…I would choose Amazon. It’s so much cheaper to order books on Amazon and it always helps that you can get books even cheaper when you get e-books too.

>>Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

+ I was just talking to my boyfriend about this the other day! Well, me talk and he being “tortured” to listen to my book talk, haha. I was telling him how I rather books be made into TV shows, because I feel like you can get more of the book if it was a TV show and it wouldn’t be as rushed and as many things taken out. With a movie, I feel like it’s always rushed and sometimes so many things are different….*cough* Percy Jackson *cough*

>>Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

+ Five books per week, DUUUUUHHHH! There are just too many books that need to be read to only read five pages a day! That’s insane! GIVE ME ALL THE BOOKS!

>>Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?

+ I would rather be a professional reviewer. I suck at writing anything, so I rather just enjoy the books instead of writing them.

>>Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?

+ Hmmm…I think I would choose bookseller. I would love to meet people that buy books and collect books. I would be able to share my love for collecting and buying. It would also be fun recommending books that they HAVE to own. High five to all the librarians though. I would probably talk people into buying the books if I was a librarian too. Any job surrounded by books would be amazing to me.

>>Would you rather read only your favorite genre, or every other genre but your favorite?

+ OMG! This is a horrible question! I love so many different genres. I don’t even know what my favorite is anymore!I One of my favorites is dystopia, but I think I will just go with every other genre, because well….maybe I’ll learn to love them even more.

>>Would you rather only read ebooks or physical books?

+ TOUGH question! I love them both, but lately I really love physical books. So I guess I would go with physical books.

I want everyone that is following me to do this tag and then link me to your posts! This is such a fun tag and you should not skip over it! 😛

Other bookish stuff;

I won this ARC in a giveaway on Twitter and I received it yesterday! I am really excited about it and can’t wait to read it! 🙂 *picture is linked to Goodreads*

IMG_7188

I am currently reading Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend and I found this in the book and thought it was hilarious. **by the way, this book is SO good**

IMG_7247

Basically, Sergeant Which is a Doctor Who spinoff in this book. HAHAHAHA. I thought it was pretty hilarious, but I guess that’s because I am a hardcore Doctor Who fan. I’m sure you’ve seen how much I’ve mentioned it and I also own so much Doctor Who stuff, SO MUCH. Here’s my mini Sonic Screwdriver. & remember that time my kitten was the fourth Doctor? 😛

IMG_5387IMG_2638

Anyway! I have tons more pictures to share with you, but I’ll save those for another time or you can check out my instagram (heyyitsashley) and you can see them over there! 🙂

Here are a couple of my recent posts if you missed them and want to check them out!

I am off to go to this party! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! BYE! ❤

The Burrito Bowl Book Tag.

burrito-bowl-book-tag-image-750x450

Hi 🙂 Two posts in one day! Link to earlier post will be at the end of this one. I was tagged by Maren @ The Worn Bookmark to do the Burrito Bowl Book Tag. It sounds like so much fun! You all should go check out Maren’s blog, because she has such a great blog! Her blog is definitely one of my favorites!

Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you to make your own burrito bowl, linking back to their site.
  2. Answer the tag questions.
  3. Tag 5 others to create their own bowl!
  4. Food coma.

Rice: The Foundation – “The book that got you into reading (or book blogging)” – The Hunger Games series definitely got me REALLY into reading. Ever since reading that series 3-4 years ago, I have been reading all the time.

2767052

Beans: The Filler – “The book with a whole lot of nothing going on” – I haven’t read too many that completely bored me to dead (the first 250 pages of Throne of Glass), but I will officially go with The Curse Keepers, that book just plain sucked and wasn’t doing it for me.

17894256

Protein: The Building Block – “A book quote to live by” – I definitely have to go with this quote from Jasper Jones – “Life might be easier if you give in a little, but it’s better if you hold onto something so hard you can’t give it up.”I love this quote so much and I love this book so much.

8407173

Fajitas: The Crunch of Texture – “A book with immaculate world-building” – As much as this book bored me in the beginning, it did have really good world-building. Throne of Glass.

16034235

Salsa: The Dance of Flavour – “A book that kept you on your toes” – So far this series has been on point and definitely has been keeping me on my toes! I really can’t wait until the third book! Ahhhhh! Angelfall by Susan Ee.

11500217

Corn: The Explosion of Sweetness – “A memorable scene with friendship/romance” – I just finished Aristotle and Dante on Saturday, but this book has so many memorable scenes involving Ari and Dante and their friendship. One of my favorite scenes is when they went out in the desert to look at the stars and ended up dancing in the rain.

12000020

Cheese: The Bond of Calcium – “Two characters from different books you wish could be friends” – This is kind of a tough one! Umm…I think I’ll go with Lily from Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares and Cath from Fangirl. I think they would really get along and make good friends.

774132516068905

Sour Cream: The Tangy Topper – “The quirkiest character you’ve ever read (protagonist or supporting)” – Leo Valdez from the Heroes of Olympus series, hands down! He was such a great character and definitely fun and quirky to me.

7624272

Guacamole: The Cost of Creaminess – “A book you paid too much for” – I’ll have to say Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom for this one. I bought this book when it was first released and it was $25. It was definitely worth the money though. It was a really great read.

1255781

Lettuce: The Handful of Crispness – “A refreshing concept/theme in a book” – I would have to go with Red Queen for this one. It was definitely different than a lot of books I read and I loved it so much.

22328546

Chips: Le Pièce de RĂŠsistance – “A must-read recommendation [if you like this book/genre—you decide!]” – This was one of my favorite books that I read last year and I definitely recommend it. It was a really good read; We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Love this book! It’s a short read, but so good!

IMG_1369

Tabasco: The Kick to the Face – “Your favorite fight/action sequence” – I definitely have to go with The Last Olympian with this one. It was definitely one of my favorites and it had so much action in it. It was great.

I am going to tag:

If I didn’t tag you and you want to do it, then you totally should! I would love to see everyone’s answers! This was such a fun tag to do. 🙂 In case you missed it, I did a post about Aristotle and Dante earlier today and you can find that post OVER HERE. It was such an amazing book! Bye! ❤

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.

Hi 🙂

I was nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award by Emily @ The Diary of a Bibliophile, Hadjar @ Manyreads, and Nicole @ awayinneverland! You should totally check out their blogs! All their posts are fantastic and I love their blogs!

sisterhood-of-the-world-bloggers-award11

There are five rules that every nominee must follow:

♦ Thank the blogger that nominated you and link their website.
♦ Insert the award logo in your blog post.
♦ Answer the ten questions that were provided by the nominator.
♦ Nominate ten bloggers.
♦ Create ten new questions for your nominees.

Questions from Emily:

1. What is your opinion of e-reading?

+ I love e-reading! I was actually obsessed with it. It’s nice being able to have all my books with me and sometimes I feel like I read faster when I am reading an e-book.

2. Have you ever read a book and loved the story, but hated the protagonist? If so, name the book.

+ This is such a tough question! I guess the answer would be no?…but I liked the first three books in the Mortal Instruments series, but I HATED Clary so much. I also started to hate the series during book four to the point that I just couldn’t stand it anymore.

3. Name a book that made you want to read more.

+ The Hunger Games series. I used to not read anything that wasn’t non-fiction, but I decided to give The Hunger Games a chance and I haven’t looked back. I have been reading anything and everything since.

4. Do you have a preferred place to read (i.e. outside, library, Starbucks, your bed, etc,.)? If so, where?

+ I don’t really have a preferred place to read. I can read anywhere and everywhere. I mostly just lay in bed and read though.

5. Name a classic book that you have yet to read.

+ Pride and Prejudice! I plan to read that this year though and also To Kill a Mockingbird. I also plan to read that this year.

6. Is there a book that you read that changed your perspective on something?

+ Definitely Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom. It was probably the best $25 I ever spent. I love that book so much and it definitely makes you think about life and other people.

7. Other than reading, what do you like to do in your spare time?

+ I love TV shows, so I usually catch up on all my favorite TV shows when I’m not reading. I also love taking pictures and find that really fun.

8. Are there any books that you want that cost more than $100? If so, what is it?

+ I don’t believe I have ever come across a book that was more than $100.

Questions from Hadjar and also from Nicole:

1. Did you have a book that meant a lot to you as a child?

+ I don’t remember too many books that I read as a child. I have a horrible memory, especially when it comes to things that happened when I was a kid. I did love Matilda though!

2. Is there any author or book that you collect and will always welcome multiple editions of the same title?

+ I buy every single Mitch Albom book no matter what! I love his books and his writing style, so I always buy his books. Physical and e-books!

3. Say that you find yourself judging a book by its cover (not that we ever do that!); what sort of covers do you go for? Are there any that are an absolute turn off?

+ I like colorful book covers and whimsical type covers. I like covers that really just stand out and are pretty; cute fonts, etc. As for turn off ones, I guess cheap looking ones or ones that have actual people on them; if that makes any sense.

4. If you could pick any imaginary animal to bring home to Mom with an earnest, “Can we keep him??”, what animal would it be?

+ Pegasus!! I would do chores for a whole month! 😛

5. Is there any book to movie adaptation that you simply refuse to watch? No way, no how, you’re not even giving them the opportunity to mess it up?

+ Nope! If I read the book, I will definitely be watching the movie. I always like to see how it turns out and even though it makes me angry (PERCY JACKSON), I will still watch.

6. What is the most unusual book you’ve ever read? (Plot, writing style, chapter layout, etc?)

+ I’m drawing a blank when it comes to this question!

7. Is there any book or series that you’ve read that is so totally outside of your normal genre, but you loved it and would recommend it to others as a “take a risk!” type of book?

+ I read and always recommend would have to be Eightysixed: Life Lessons Learned. I probably would have never read this or even come across it had the author not comment on one of my pictures on Instagram. I actually loved the book so much and glad she did! You will be laughing out loud throughout the entire book.

8. Do you have any bookish collections, or anything you covet and hope to someday collect? Candles, artwork, bookcases?

+ Besides books, not really. I do like buying bookmarks, so I guess I am slowly building up a bookmark collection. I actually bought some new bookmarks, so once I receive them I will definitely be sharing on my blog. 🙂

9. What book has been on your TBR pile the longest, but you just can’t convince yourself to pick it up?

+ The Infernal Devices series has been on my TBR the longest along with The Darkest Minds and Paper Towns. As far as The Infernal Devices go, I ended up not liking the Mortal Instruments series (like I mentioned in another question) and jumping into the Shadowhunter world again is something I don’t think I am ready to do and haven’t been. Maybe one day! As for The Darkest Minds and Paper Towns, I’m not sure why I haven’t read them yet! I have both books on my bookshelf. I really want to read them ASAP!

10. You get a $500 gift card for all things bookish – do you run to your nearest bookstore and spend like a fiend? Or do you create pro/con lists (a la Rory Gilmore) to make sure you get just the right & perfect & wonderful bookish things? Or are you eyeing a particularly expensive bookcase somewhere?

+ I would probably buy a ton of books right away! I may make a list of the top ones I want to get first and then just add whatever after. So…is there a $500 gift card waiting for me somewhere??! 😛

  4. What is a book that made you laugh the hardest?
  5. What is one book that you wish was made into a movie?
  6. What is your favorite genre and favorite book from that genre?
  7. What book are you dying to read?
  8. Do you own more physical copies of books or e-books?

Celebrity Book Tag.

Hey 🙂

I was tagged by Analee at Book Snacks to do the Celebrity Book Tag. You should definitely check out her blog, because it’s really great! This looks like such a fun tag, so let’s get started!

1. Emma Watson — A book with a hot kick-ass female character

+ Aya from The Glass Arrow. She was a total badass and I loved her so much!

2. Ryan Gosling — A book with the hottest male character

+ I was totally in love with Levi from Fangirl.

3. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt — A book with your favorite fictional book couple

+ Can we change Angelina’s name to Angelo? My favorite fictional couple (newly favorite) is Simon and Blue from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.

4. Shailene Woodley — Author you’ve recently discovered and loved

+ I recently discovered Rainbow Rowell. I’ve heard a lot about her and her books, but never read any of them until this year. I am really excited to read Attachments and Landline – these are the ones I haven’t read yet. I am also totally excited about Carry On to be released this year!

5. Josh Hutcherson- Favorite short story or novella

+ The Day Boy and the Night Girl by George MacDonald. It’s perfect.

6. Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock — Favorite Big Book (over 500 pages)

+ I haven’t read too many big books (like 600+ pages)…I plan to tackle Outlander at some point this year though! A favorite book over 500 pages though would have to be Insurgent. It was my favorite book from the Divergent series and it’s definitely one of my favorite books overall.

7. Leonardio DiCaprio — A series with the most upsetting death (NO SPOILERS)

+ Allegiant, for sure! I still can’t get over it and it’s been so long since I read it. I would also like to pick Messenger by Lois Lowry (it’s the third book in The Giver Quartet). My sister and I still can’t get over it. I don’t think I’ve cried harder than when I read these two books.

8. Kristen Stewart — A book you found boring

+ The Curse Keepers by  Denise Grover Swank – I couldn’t even finish the book. It was just so horrible.

9. Ian Somerhalder — Cutest book on your shelf

+ I haven’t read this book yet, but the cover for Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend is SO CUTE! I can’t wait to read it!

IMG_6372

10. Jennifer Lawrence — Perfect book or series

+ The Maze Runner. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I really really really want to say Penryn and the End of Days series, but the third book isn’t out yet….so I can’t say that it’s perfect, not yet anyway! 😛 I am impatiently waiting for End of Days…you have no idea! I’m pretty sure whatever book I am reading at the time will be put on hold once this book is released!

I am going to tag:

Feel free to skip if you don’t want to do it or if you have already done it. If I didn’t tag you and you want to do it, you totally should! Link me to your post and I’ll check it out if you do! 🙂

Here are some of my other recent posts in case you missed them and want to check them out!

I hope everyone has a great Thursday! ❤

The Ultimate Book Tag.

Untitled

Hey 🙂
I noticed that a lot of you that I follow have been doing this tag and Marie at drizzle and hurricane books tagged me to do it. Go check out her blog, I love it!

Do you get sick while reading in the car?
+ I do not get sick reading in the car and I am so thankful for that. I love reading in the car!

Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?
+ I love Mitch Albom’s style of writing, especially when he wrote The Time Keeper.

Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
+ I haven’t actually read Twilight and I never will. I have only read the first two Harry Potter books so far, but if I had to choose, then I would choose Harry Potter.

Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is in it (besides books)?
+ I do not carry a book bag. I do carry a purse, if that counts. It just has the essentials that probably most girls’ purses contain, lol.

Do you smell your books?
+ I do sometimes, but not usually. If I am totally excited about getting a book, then I usually do in my excitement. lol.

Books with or without little illustrations.
+ I haven’t really read many books with illustrations, so I would choose books without.

What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?
+ I can’t think of any for this. I love all the books I read regardless if it is was bad quality or not. If I love it, then I love it.

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
+ None that I can really think of. I have such a horrible memory, especially of my childhood though. So I really have no clue, lol.

What is the tinniest book on your shelf?
+ The tinniest would probably be Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.

What is the thickest book on your shelf?
+ The thickest would probably be Ash by James Herbert. This is by number of pages; if I went by actual thickness, then Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty wins.

IMG_5142

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
+ I do not write. I am probably a horrible writer. I did buy this book called 642 Things to Write About that I was planning to use on my blog to inspire me to be more creative and to attempt writing. You can see how well that worked out….aka it didn’t. I still want to try the book out though! I’ve had it for a few years and haven’t done any writing prompts from it, oops.

When did you get into reading?
+ I’ve had this on/off relationship with reading throughout my entire life. It was probably 3-4 years ago that I really got back into reading and never looked back since.

What is your favorite classic book?
+ I haven’t read too many classic books, but one of my favorite ones is Of Mice and Men. I really want to read more though. I am going to challenge myself to try to read more classics.

In school what was your best subject Language Arts/English?
+ I wasn’t a fan of these classes when I was in school; I actually wasn’t a fan of school at all when I was in school. My best subject was probably science or any computer class.

If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated, what would you do?
+ I would probably act like I totally love it and then re-gift it to someone else. “OMG THIS IS THE BEST EVER” and then wrap it up and put it in my closet for Christmas time. My luck I would probably end up re-gifting it to the person that gave it to me. 😉

What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while blogging?
+ I constantly edit posts over and over again. I’ll re-read it a million times and fix it a million more. I also tend to get distracted by looking at other websites as I am typing up a post. Pinterest is evil I tell you!

What is your favorite word?
+ I actually really dislike talking, lol. Umm….I guess “forever”. I say it a lot when I’m talking. Like “forever reading” “forever tired” “forever hungry”….FOREVER EVERYTHING! 😉

Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?
+ Probably a nerd. My boyfriend always calls me a book nerd. He’s a Call of Duty nerd, so BOOOOM!! He gets to be a nerd too.

Vampires or Fairies? Why?
+ Fairies. They can be totally cute, but then also totally crazy and scary.

Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?
+ This one is kind of tough. I guess I would choose Angels. The badass kind though, like in the book Angelfall or the TV show Supernatural. Castiel ❤ Love my boy.

Spirits or Werewolves? Why?
+ Hmm….maybe werewolves more than spirits. Werewolves seem a lot cooler than a spirit.

Zombies or Vampires? Why?
+ Zombies, for sure. I do like the occasional vampire, but I love reading about zombies. Here’s a fun fact: I hate zombie TV shows (besides that new show iZombie and yes that means I hate The Walking Dead) and I hate zombie movies, but I am a sucker for a good zombie book. I have no clue why I rather read about them than watch them.

Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
+ I hate love triangles so much! I would rather read about forbidden love.

And finally: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
+ Action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in. I hate when a book has so much romance in it. I tend to really hate those and end up not finishing the book if it’s too bad. I guess I just prefer action-packed books more than anything else.

This was fun, wasn’t it? I tag anyone that hasn’t done it already, because most of the people that I follow have already done this tag. So if you haven’t done it, GO DO IT! Also, link me to your post in the comments if you choose to do it, so I can see your answers! 🙂

It’s Saturday, which means I probably will clean the apartment and read. Try to clean anyway; I always end up just reading or watching tv. I’m horrible, lol. Here is a lovely picture from last night to show you how awesome my Friday nights are….and I am not being sarcastic. This is the perfect Friday night for me. I am totally anti-social and I get anxiety when people try to make small talk with me. I am that person that will pretend to be focused on my phone and pretend not to hear you.

Perfection in all its glory, just saying. 😉

You can check out some other posts I’ve done recently over here:

That’s all for me today. Let’s see if I can be productive today. Get through a little over half of Throne of Glass or clean my apartment. Both would be ideal. BYE ❤

Liebster Award.

IMG_2393

I was nominated to do the Liebster Award by Josie at Josies Book Corner. I’ve been nominated before, but I decided I would do it again. I love Josie’s blog and it’s been so awesome becoming friends with her. I definitely recommend everyone to check out her blog and follow her!

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  2. Display the award on your blog – by including it in your post/ or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post).
  3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person you nominated you.
  4. Nominate 5-11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have less than 200 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!).
  5. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
  6. List these rules in your post. (You can copy and paste).
  7. Find some way to inform those who have nominated you.

Questions from Josie:

1. FAVORITE BOOK YOU’VE READ THIS YEAR?
I’ve read so many great books so far this year, but my favorite that I read this year would have to be Take Me With You by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It’s such a great read!

2. PICK A CHARACTER YOU LIKE AND A SONG THEY’D SERENADE TO THEIR OTHER HALF.
I’m drawing a complete blank with this one! Sorry 😦 I’m definitely going to think about this though and maybe I’ll edit the post later with it or answer at a later time in another post.

3. A QUOTE THAT INSPIRES YOU.
“What’s the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?” – John Green, An Abundance of Katherines.

4. A CHARACTER YOU WOULD DATE IF THEY WERE REAL.
This was kind of hard to answer, surprisingly. I think I would choose Tobias from Divergent or Minho from The Maze Runner. I love them both so much!

5. A BOOK THAT SURPRISED YOU OR A BOOK THAT YOU DIDN’T EXPECT TO LIKE.
Angelfall by Susan Ee definitely surprised me and I also loved it so much and didn’t expect that I would like it so much! The second book was just as great (World After) and I am impatiently waiting for the next book! The series has been so awesome so far.

6. NAME AN AUTHOR YOU’D LOVE TO MEET AND PICK THEIR BRAINS.
I am so shy and probably wouldn’t have the guts to ever meet an author, but if I could, I would want to meet Veronica Roth or Rick Riordan. I love them both and their books! Mitch Albom would also be great to meet.

7. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF BOOK TO READ ON A COLD WINTER DAY?
Probably some type of thriller/paranormal type book. I think it fits the mood of a cold and winter day, perfectly. I live in Florida though, so cold and wintery type days is pretty much non-existent. So I’m not entirely sure what book I would gravitate to if I was in the situation.

8. DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT YOU READ EVERY YEAR OR HAVE RE-READ MORE THAN ONCE?
I actually don’t have a book that I read every year, but a book that I have reread more than once was The Diary of a Young Girl. I love Anne Frank and her book. I’ve read that for school and then I read it again on my own. I believe I’ve read it three times.

9. FAVORITE ENDING TO A BOOK?
My favorite ending to a book was The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. It was the perfect ending and it is one of my favorite books.

10. A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY.
Allegiant by Veronica Roth; I cried forever it seemed like. I had to stop reading for a while, because I couldn’t see the letters clearly from crying so much. I cried long after I read it and every time I thought about the book. Also, Messenger (third book in the Giver Quartet) by Lois Lowry. That book tore me apart and for days I was talking about it and crying when I thought about it. You can check out my post on the series over here and I posted a picture of myself after I read the book (well after I kind of calmed down from crying, lol). After reading Messenger, I got into a huge reading slump that lasted me the entire rest of the year and I refused to read the last book until four months after I read Messenger.

11. A BOOK YOU BELIEVE EVERY BOOK-LOVER SHOULD READ, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR PREFERENCES.
This is kind of hard to answer, but I always recommend Eightysixed: Life Lessons Learned by Emily Belden. It’s actually a book that I didn’t think I would even like that much, but ended up loving so much. I’ve mentioned it before how I probably never would have found the book had the author not comment on one of my Instagram pictures about it.

I really loved answering these questions. They were such great questions! This is kind of breaking the rules, but I’m going to skip nominating anyone. I would love for everyone to do it and answer the above questions that I answered. If you do decide to do it, link me to your post or you can tell me your questions in the comments section if you like. 🙂

I need to get myself out of this mini-reading slump I am in, so I am off to read The Glass Arrow. So far it’s okay, but I haven’t been in the reading mood and have only read 45 pages over an eight day period of trying to read it. It’s kind of sad, because I bought so many books over the last month that I really want to get around to reading. I’m hoping by getting further into The Glass Arrow it will pull me out of the reading slump.

❤
