What are you currently reading?

boyfriendmaterial

I am currently reading Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall. I am enjoying it so much. I am actually almost done with it and hoping to finally finish it today. Review to come. 🙂

What’s your favorite can’t-leave-the-house activity?

animalcrossingp17894666_b_v13_aa

I should say reading, right? Sadly, that hasn’t been my favorite can’t-leave-the-house activity lately. I really wish that it was, but I am just not reading that much while stuck at home. I can’t seem to focus for very long on books and find myself doing other things. Right now, my favorite activity would have to be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’ve also been watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, and within 2.5 months I watched 12 seasons! I can’t believe I watched that many seasons in such a short time. It’s such a great show though and I’m having a lot of fun watching it. I guess you can see part of why I haven’t been reading much.

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?

youngelitescarvethemarkillgiveyouthesun

The Young Elites by Marie Lu
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Can I say all the books on my bookshelves? 😛 There’s seriously so many books that I’ve been meaning to read forever and just never got around to it. I guess these would be my top three that I’ve been meaning to read.

An intimidating book on your TBR?

outlander

I think it will forever be Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, but the page count terrifies me LOL. I started watching the series and I really like it though, so maybe it’ll give me the push to actually start it?

Top 3 priority books on your TBR?

morethanthissolitairethetoll

More Than This by Patrick Ness
Solitaire by Alice Oseman
The Toll by Neal Shusterman

I should focus on my ARCs and I will, but non-ARC related priority books would have to be these three. I want to finally read these three books before the end of the year. I started More Than This, but couldn’t get into it so I put it down. I want to give it a second chance. Solitaire I’ve been really wanting to read for a while now since I love Heartstopper. And I really want to finish the Arc of Scythe trilogy because I love it so much.

Recommend a short book.

theoutsiders

I will forever recommend reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It’s such an amazing story for being just under 200 pages! I reread it all the time.

Recommend a long book.

IMAGINARYFRIEND

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky. I loved this book so much. Here is part of my mini review that I wrote about it last year.

“I am not entirely sure how to start this review or how great this review will end up being, because I have no idea what I even read. I say that in the best way possible though, because Imaginary Friend was INSANE, but so good! It was crazy and it kept me on the edge of my seat on every 700+ page! It was weird and it was creepy. I had dreams about this book multiple times throughout reading it. I had no idea what was happening or what the outcome would be and it drove me crazy, haha. I was trying to figure out what was going to happen next and I just couldn’t. I was constantly surprised and hit with so many feels. I shed a lot of tears while reading this story as well as every other feeling you can imagine.”

Something you’d love to do while stuck at home.

Last year we bought a house and I would love to finally buy paint and repaint the inside of the house. We painted three of the bedrooms, but I would love to finally paint all the other rooms in the house, and maybe do some other house projects.

What do you plan on reading next?

felixeverafterstrungoutbeachread

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
Strung Out by Erin Khar
Beach Read by Emily Henry

I’m not really sure what I will read next, because there is so many books that I want to read but I’m also in this major reading slump as well, so it’s kind of hard to get into anything. I think I may go with one of these three books as my next read. Have your read any of these? If so, which one should I read first?

As for tagging, I tag everyone that hasn’t done this tag yet and feel free to link me to your post, so that I can check out your answers! 😀

I know I haven’t been the best blogger this year and I really hope that changes soon. I just haven’t really felt in the mood to read or blog as much. I do get on to read your posts at least once a week though. Last month you guys may have seen that I only read one book and so far this month it is looking about the same. So far, I’ve only read one book (hopefully finishing it today) and I listened to one audiobook. I don’t know why, but my head just isn’t there lately. I don’t even sleep at night anymore, which sucks. There will be some days where I don’t even go to sleep until 5am and most days it’s 3-4am. Most days I get like three or four hours of sleep a night/morning. I’m just all over the place in my head, I guess. Sigh.

Anyway, that’s all for this post! I hope you had fun reading my answers. I will get back on to blog hop later tonight. I have mountains of laundry to do and laundry is NOT fun.  I will leave you with a picture of the sunset in my backyard from the other day.

Book Tag|| Goodreads.

booktag

Hey!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a tag, so I decide that today was the day. I’m not sure where this tag originated from (if you know, feel free to let me know, so I can credit!), but I seen one of my friends answer these questions in in their journal and decided to do it on my blog. It’s a Goodreads survey (or tag), so all my answers go along with what I have on my Goodreads account and speaking of Goodreads, feel free to add me as a friend. 🙂 Here are the questions & answers:

What are the five newest additions to your to-read list?

I have two shelves of books that have books that I want to read and these are just from the books that I do NOT own yet.

somethingiskillthechildrenaosawamurderslovecreekwoodbridgeofsoulscatinevernamed

Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV
The Aosawa Murders by Riku Onda
Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli
Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab
The Cat I Never Named by Amra Sabic-El-Rayess

What are the five oldest additions to your to-read list?

I have two shelves of books that have books that I want to read and these are just from the books that I do NOT own yet.

artofbeingnormalwillfulmachinesbloodredroadlambtotheslaughterfivestages

The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Willful Machines by Tim Floreen
Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Lamb to the Slaughter by Karen Ann Hopkins
The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by David Shaun Hutchison

How many books do you have listed as read?

I currently have 594 books marked as “read”! That’s pretty crazy to me, honestly. A little shocked that I have read almost 600 books. Blogging definitely helped with that, because before I started blogging I wasn’t reading nearly as much as I do now.

How many books are in your to-read-list?

I have two different shelves of books to read, so total together I have 1089 books on my to-read list. I know I probably won’t get to the majority of them in my lifetime, haha. I kind of want to go through my Goodreads shelf at some point this year and remove some. I actually think that is one of my goals for this year that I talked about back in January.

Are there any authors who are more heavily represented in your have read list?

A few authors that I have read a lot of books from are Rick Riordan, Mitch Albom, and Colleen Hoover.

Are there any authors who are more heavily represented in your to-read list?

A few authors that I want to read a lot of their books are Morgan Matson and Kasie West. I own a lot of their books and haven’t read them and the ones that I don’t own, I have them marked on my “to-read” shelf.

How do you sort your books?

I have a few shelves that I sort my books into. I have the standard “read” shelf and then I make shelves each year for audiobooks that I’ve listened to. That way I know what was audiobook and what was not. I have the standard “want to read” shelf and then I have another shelf I created called “TBR books I own” of the books that I want to read that I own.

Do you participate in the 2020 reading challenge?

Yes, I am participating in the 2020 reading challenge. I currently have my challenge set to read 50 books this year. It was 60 at the beginning of the year but I had to lower it, because I haven’t really been reading as much as I usually do.

Do you participate in any discussion groups?

Nope, I don’t think I have ever participated in the discussion groups on Goodreads before.

How many books have you read so far this year?

So far, I have read 17 books. 16 books I read myself and one audiobook. I’m actually kind of bummed that I haven’t read more books this year. I guess 17 is still decent though and the year is not over!

How many books are you currently reading?

jackofhearts

I am currently only reading one book, which is Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by Lev A.C. Rosen. So far, I really like it.

Do you write reviews? Do you read reviews?

I write reviews on my blog and then I copy them over to Goodreads afterward. I do sometimes read reviews too.

Any other Goodreads feature you use?

I don’t really use many of the Goodreads features other than rating books, shelving books, and sometimes the Giveaway page.

Do you follow any interesting authors or other people worth mentioning?

I don’t know? Haha. I just follow some of my favorite authors over there like Rick Riordan, Mitch Albom, Colleen Hoover, Veronica Roth, and Morgan Rhodes.

This was a lot of fun to do and I would love to see your answers as well. So, if you want to do this tag, feel free to link me to your posts. || Hopefully, I will catch up with your posts and reply to comments this weekend. 🙂 I am hoping to finish my current read today (or tomorrow), so I want to spend some time reading today. If I can get this finished, maybe I will have time to squeeze in one more book before the end of the month. *fingers crossed*

Book Tag|| New Year’s Resolution.

booktag

Hi!

I seen the New Year’s Resolution book tag over on Kristin’s blog Kristin Kraves Books and thought it would be fun to do since it’s the start of  a new year!

An author you’d like to read that you’ve never read:

thesmallestpart

The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon

I really want to check out Amy Harmon’s books. They always sound so interesting and I always see good reviews about them. I have the e-book of The Smallest Part, so maybe I’ll finally check out something by her this year.

A book you’d like to read:

infinityson

Infinity Son by Adam Silvera

Infinity Son is one of my highly anticipated reads of the year and I really hope I read it this year. I am so bad at never reading my highly anticipated books as soon as I get them and a year+ will go by before I finally grab it off my shelf. I need to be better about this, haha. I am really excited to see what Adam does with a fantasy novel.

A classic you’d like to read:

janeeyre

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I’m not really that big a fan of classics, but I think I would like to read Jane Eyre. I also have this really cool edition of it that when you fold the pages it’ll spell out “READ”. I’ve had it for years and wanted it as a decoration for my bookshelves, but I also wanted to do it as I read through the book and never have. Maybe I finally will this year?

A book you’d like to re-read:

FALLINGKINGDOMS

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

I don’t really reread books that often, but I would like to reread the Falling Kingdoms series. I read the whole series back in 2018 I believe and I love it so much. I would love to read it again.

A book you’ve had for ages and want to read:

emmy

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

This is a tough one, because I own so many books that I’ve had for years and have yet to read. I think I will go with Emmy & Oliver, because it’s one I’ve had for a really long time and it was also one that at the time it was released was one of my highly anticipated releases that I never got to.

A big book you’d like to read:

queenofairanddarkness

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

Big books scare me! I always tend to listen to audiobooks for those bigger books. That’s what I will probably end up doing with Queen of Air and Darkness at some point this year. I am actually (surprisingly) enjoying the Dark Artifices series and I am really looking forward to this third book. According to Goodreads this book has 900+ pages.

An author you’ve previously read and would like to read more of:

Permanent Record by Mary H.K. Choi

I read Emergency Contact a couple years ago and loved it so much. I would love to read more books from Mary H.K. Choi. I have the book that she published last year called Permanent Record and haven’t had the chance to read it yet. Hoping to finally read it at some point this year. I believe she even has a new one being released this year too.

A book you got for Christmas and would like to read:

ninthhouse

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

One of the books that I got for Christmas this year was Ninth House. I really enjoy Leigh Bardugo’s books, so I definitely want to try to read this one at some point this year.

A series you want to read from start to finish:

hiddenoracle

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

I would love to finally start The Trials of Apollo series. I love Rick Riordan’s books and I have yet to start this series. I believe there is a book five coming out in the Fall of this year, so maybe I will finally start the series once book five is released. I am really stoked for the series.

A series you want to finish that you’ve already started:

jackaby

Jackaby by William Ritter

I read Jackaby last year and I really loved it. I would love to get the other books in the series and finish it. I had so much fun reading it, so I think I would really enjoy the rest of the series as well. I think I actually have the e-book for the sequel, so hopefully soon!

Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2020?

I do set myself some reading goals, which I will link my blog post of all those goals at the end of this post. I am not always the best at sticking to them, but I still like to make a list. As for how many books I want to read this year, I have my Goodreads challenge goal at 60 books. That doesn’t include audiobooks (I count them separately). Last year I was able to read 63 books, so hopefully I will be able to again and more!

My family is coming to visit again for the weekend and I’m looking forward to that. We were supposed to take my niece to to Busch Gardens last Saturday for her birthday, but it ended up raining so we decided to save it for this weekend. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tomorrow, but the weather has been kind of iffy on my weather app, so I really have no idea. Anyway, I will catch up with you guys later this weekend. 🙂

Book Tag|| Christmas Book Blogger.

booktag

Hey!

I was tagged by Alexandra from Whimsy Pages to do the Christmas book blogger tag. I love Christmas and knew I had to do this tag too. Continuing reading to see questions and my answers. 🙂

What Is Your Favorite Christmas Scene In A Book?

I haven’t really read many Christmassy books, so I am going to go with Christmas at Hogwarts as my favorite Christmas scene in a book.

Do You Have Any Christmas Book Traditions?

homealone2homealone2

I don’t really have any Christmas book traditions. Maybe I’ll start a new one? I did read Home Alone 2: Lost in New York children’s book this month, so maybe I’ll make it a point to read it every single year before I watch the movie. It’s one of my favorite movies.

Do You Prefer To Get Presents Of Book Vouchers Or Books?

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter. They both result in new books, so it’s a win either way haha. It’s rare that anyone buys me books for Christmas, which is sad! I want all the books!

Do You Give Books As Presents?

I don’t give books as presents often. I have a few times, but that’s pretty rare too. My family isn’t that big into reading. I did buy three books for my younger sister this year though. She actually requested them, which was a first.

What Bookish Item Is On Your Christmas Wishlist?

I am in real need for  a new Kindle, because mine doesn’t hold a charge for very long anymore and I’ve had it for four years now. So I have a white Kindle with a back light (mine doesn’t have one) on my Christmas wishlist. I already exchanged gifts with my family and sadly didn’t get it. Always next year! 😛

What 3 Books Would You Love Santa To Have In His Sack For You?

princecharmingOnEarthWereBrieflyGorgeousdragonpearl

I would love from Santa to bring me Prince Charming (Rachel Hawkins), On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous (Ocean Vuong), and Dragon Pearl (Yoon Ha Lee).

Fake Christmas Tree Or Real Christmas Tree?

I’ve always wanted a real tree, but we always end up getting a fake tree. They are so much easier and in the long run, cheaper because you get to use the same one every year instead of spending money to get a real one each year.

What’s Your Favorite Thing About Christmas?

My favorite thing about Christmas is buying gifts for my family and friends, because I love picking things out for them and seeing their faces when they open their gifts.

What Christmas Book Would You Recommend?

dashandlilysbookofdarestwelvedaysofdashandlily

I haven’t really read many Christmas books, so this is a tough one. I really liked Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares and the sequel as well. They were fun Christmas books.

What Dish On Your Christmas Menu Are You Most Looking Forward To?

I have no idea, haha. All of it? 😛 I really liked deviled eggs too, so I guess I am looking forward to those every year.

When Do You Open Your Christmas Presents?

We usually open them on Christmas morning (December 25th). This year we are spending Christmas with the husband’s family, which is exciting.

What’s Your Favorite Christmas Song?

hanson

I love all the Christmas songs, haha. One of my favorites would have to be from the Hanson Christmas album Snowed In, lol. The song is called Merry Christmas Baby.

Are You Dreaming Of A White Christmas?

I am forever dreaming of a white Christmas, but this is Florida and it doesn’t snow here. So I guess I will just keep dreaming.

I tag anyone that wants to do this! I would love to see your answers, so feel free to link me to your posts so I can check them out. 🙂 And I will leave you with a picture I took this weekend. My family and I went to this Christmas event in Celebration (town in Florida). It was fun seeing all the decorations and watching some bands play Christmas songs.

Book Tag||Book Addiction.

booktag

Hey!

I seen the Addiction Book Tag over on Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books blog and decided that I wanted to do it as well! Check out  my answers below and make sure to go check out Marie’s blog. She’s one of my favorite bloggers and posts so many great discussion posts and has all the best book recommendations!

Questions:

1) What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?

+ I would probably say like a day or two. If I don’t pick up a book I start to feel a little guilty, especially since I have so many books that I haven’t read yet.

2) How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?

+ I don’t usually take physical books out when I go places (don’t want to risk the damage), but I usually always have my Kindle with me. I think I have about 50 books downloaded to my Kindle now and of course I have like 400+ in the cloud haha.

3) Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?

+ I don’t keep every book that I buy/receive. If I don’t like it, I usually give it away or donate it. If I decide to do an unhaul of books I don’t plan to reread or that I don’t plan to read at all, then I usually give them away or donate them. I don’t have a problem with passing them to someone else, so I can make space for more. I rather keep books that I love or know that I really want to read than to have a ton of books taking up space for new books that I really want/love.

4) How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?

+ I could spend all day there if the hubby let me, haha. I like to make sure I have looked at every single book on the shelves, so I don’t miss anything.

5) How much time per day do you actually spend reading?

+ Not a lot, actually. Maybe an hour or two a day. It’s also not usually straight through either, because sometimes I get distracted with picking up my phone. I could spend several hours listening to an audiobook while I’m working though. I also like to watch TV shows too, so I split my time between reading and watching TV.

6) Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?

+ Usually right after work or dinner? I have no idea, haha. I just pick one up whenever, but it’s usually at the top of the list if I don’t have other things I need to do first.

7) How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?

+ In total I own almost 1000 books! Fun fact, but also not so fun for my bank account, I accumulated that many books in just 3.5 years! I think I owned maybe 50 books (mostly e-books) before I started blogging in 2015. A little over 500 are physical books and a little over 450 are e-books. You can check out all the books I own over here. I last updated the pages a month ago.

D0CB4320-15CF-45DC-BBB2-063DC0E58A8F

8) Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?

+ I don’t usually bring up books that often in conversation, because the people in my real life don’t really read books. I might mention something once in awhile to the hubby, but that’s about it.

9) What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?

+ Hmm….according to Goodreads the biggest book that I have read was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (870 pages according to Goodreads). I actually listened to that one on audiobook, so maybe it doesn’t count? Bigger books terrify me, so I usually listen to them on audiobook. The biggest book that I actually read myself (not audio) was City of Heavenly Fire (725 pages according to Goodreads).

10) Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds (i.e searching bookshops, online digging, etc.)?

+ I don’t think I’ve had this problem. The only thing I can think that fits this question is that if a book isn’t out in the US, then I order from online so I can have a copy. I’ve done that with a few books.

11) A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?

+ City of Heavenly Fire, haha. I really liked the Mortal Instruments from book 1-4, but after that they just started to go downhill for me. Even in book four is when it started to lose my interest. I feel like it should have ended after book three instead of dragging on. It took me around six months to finish that book. I felt like since I got halfway through it and forced my way through the series, then I had to see how it ended. I really didn’t like it all that much. I honestly would have LOVED the series so much if it stopped at book three. Now I just don’t really know how I feel about the series.

12) What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?

+ Read 60 books by myself. Meaning don’t include audiobooks into that number.
+ Reading the Alphabet challenge, which I have done horribly at.
+ Read my unfinished series, which I have done pretty bad at.
You can check out more of my 2019 bookish goals over here.

13) Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?

+ I’m not really sure. I don’t think so. My older sister is the only one that really reads and I gave her my Kindle login info, so she has read a lot of the books I have on there. That’s about it. But even then, she doesn’t always read. She takes months/year breaks sometimes. She’ll read all the time and then just take really long breaks before reading again.

14) Describe what books mean to you in five words.

+ Books mean everything to me!

I tag anyone that wants to take part in this tag! Feel free to link me to your posts, so I can check them out. 😀 And just because…here are some random pictures my furbabies with my books.

I am off to Universal Studios tomorrow (Saturday) with the hubby, my childhood best friend, and her husband. I am really looking forward to hanging out with them again and to be going to Universal Studios. Universal Studios is having a water light show event, so we want to check that out and of course get some Butterbeer from Harry Potter World. 😛

Tag|| This or That.

booktag

Hey!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a tag on my blog. I am going to just jump right into it. Thank you Crystal @ Paper Royalty for tagging me to do the This or That Challenge. 🙂

INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT

I am definitely an introvert. People give me anxiety. Social situations give me anxiety. I much prefer a quiet place. It’s actually kind of annoying, because a lot of the things I want to do in life involve people or crowds of people….the struggle.

WIN THE LOTTERY OR WORK AT THE PERFECT JOB

This is a tough one, but I think I would probably rather win the lottery. I honestly just want to travel the world and take pictures, so if I won the lottery it would make that happen for me.

READING OR WRITING

100% reading. I am not a very good writer and I don’t really have any creative stories floating around in my head and wouldn’t even know where to begin. Books though…I want to read ALL THE BOOKS.

BREAKFAST OR NO BREAKFAST

I wasn’t really a breakfast person, but now that I started to work from home I eat breakfast. I usually eat yogurt and apples for breakfast.

MARVEL OR DC

Neither. I don’t like superhero stuff, to be honest. I think I’ve only ever watched like two superhero movies before and never read any comics. They just don’t interest me.

TV SHOWS OR MOVIES

I would have to go with TV shows. Movies are great and all, but I much rather watch a TV show. Sometimes it feels like there is too much invested time into watching a movie and with a TV show they are usually 30-minutes, so it doesn’t feel like forever. Even though I end up binge watching an entire season/series in one day. LOL. I just like the idea that I can stop after an episode, but you can’t really do that with a movie. Also, TV show episodes can be different than the previous ones; which is nice.

FRENCH FRIES OR SALAD

Ooooh this is a hard question, because I LOVE french fries. I would go with salad though, because you can change up a salad in so many different ways. I’ve also been eating a salad every single day for lunch for the last 2-3 months and I don’t hate it. 😛

DYED HAIR OR NATURAL COLOURS

I always pin ideas of different ways to dye my hair, but it makes me nervous haha. So right now it’s forever natural.

LEGGINGS OR JEANS

I am more of a leggings person, because I can never find jeans that fit me the way that I want them to. Like just recently I ordered skinny jeans online at Target but when I got them…they were NOT skinny jeans on me. That’s one of my huge problems. I have skinny legs and pant/jean legs NEVER fit me correctly. Blehhhh. So leggings all the way.

DISNEY CLASSIC OR PIXAR

I haven’t really watched a Disney or Pixar movie in such a long time. If I had to choose, I guess I would go with Disney Classic. I love Aladdin & Peter Pan so much.

Hey!

Today is my Friday, because I get to have tomorrow (actually Friday) off work. Super stoked about that! I decided to request it off because it’s my mom’s birthday and we have family from out of state visiting. On Saturday we’re having a birthday party for her, which will be cool! 😀 Anyway, I was tagged by Avery from Red Rocket Panda to do the Anonymous Bookaholics tag. Questions:

What do you like about buying new books?

I love the look and feel of books. Especially if they have bright colorful artwork on the cover or pretty fonts. I also love having my bookshelves all set up with so many books on it. It’s actually killing me right now that I currently do not have any bookshelves and that all my books are packed away. I miss being able to stare at them and admire them, lol. Hopefully soon this changes! But honestly, I just LOVE books, reading them, collecting them, everything! GIVE ME ALL THE BOOKS!!!!

How often do you buy new books?

I don’t buy books too often these days, because I already have so many that I need to read and I am also trying to save money. I might buy a few a month or go months without buying. I used to buy TONS every single month though, but have since stopped.

Bookstore or online book shopping – Which do you prefer?

I love checking out different bookstores, but because I don’t have a ton of money I usually buy online. It’s cheaper online, sadly.

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

I don’t really have a favorite bookshop. There was a used bookshop here called Second Edition Book Shop and they had a cat named Catsby that lived there. I really liked going there and checking out all the books that they got in. Sadly the book shop closed down though. 😦

Do you pre-order books?

I do pre-order books. I usually only pre-order my auto-buy authors’ new books or a book that I absolutely cannot live without and need it on release day, lol. But mostly it’s just my auto-buy authors that I pre-order.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

No monthly limit, but I try not to spend a ton of money a month when I do buy books. So I guess I try to limit myself to $30-50 if I do happen to buy some books.

How big is your wishlist?

My Goodreads TBR is kind of crazy long right now of the books that I want to read that I don’t own, lol. I do have an Amazon wishlist of books though and it’s pretty decent sized. It’s 100+ books, LOL. UGHHH.

Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own NOW?

starryeyeshereticillustratedlightning

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry
The Lightning Thief Illustrated Edition by Rick Riordan
* Percy linked to Amazon, because I couldn’t find on Goodreads*

I just recently found out that there is now an illustrated edition of The Lightning Thief and I seriously need to own it like ASAP! That $25 price tag though has me hesitating, ughhhh! I love Rick Riordan so much though and I love Percy Jackson. I added it to my Christmas wishlist too, so we’ll see what happens. If not, I might have to breakdown and spend the money. I’ve also been eyeing Starry Eyes FOREVER! I also found out about Heretics Anonymous a few months ago and it sounds so good and I need it!

Book Tag|| Meme Book Tag.

booktag

Hey!

It took me awhile to finally get around to this tag, ahhhh. I need to play tag catch up. I was tagged by the awesome Lilly from Lair of Books to do the Meme Book Tag! This tag is seriously the best! I love a good meme and these ten memes are always hilarious! Thanks for tagging me, Lilly! You guys should definitely go check out her blog. 🙂

Crying Kim Kardashian – A book that made you cry.

kim-kardashian

theknifeofserpentking

I admit, I cry easily at books, movies, and TV shows. So I have cried quite a bit when it comes to books. Colleen Hoover books always have me a mess. A couple others that really made me cry a lot were The Knife of Never Letting Go and The Serpent King.

Salt Bae – A book that needed a little something more.

salt bae

lovehateandotherfilters

A recent one that I read was Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed. I enjoyed it, but I felt like something was missing. I didn’t feel blown away by it like everyone else has been. I believe I gave this one three stars.

Guy Thinking – A book that made you think.

guythinking

ananatomyofaddictiontheradiumgirls

I’ve been getting into more nonfiction books again, which I love! Nonfiction books always make me think, especially when it’s about real topics that are happening now or have happened in the past. A couple of my recent favorites have been An Anatomy of Addiction and The Radium Girls.

Confused Guy – A book whose hype you don’t understand.

confusedguy

illuminaecourtfury

I’ve said it over and over again and I am sure I sound like a broken record, but hype and I don’t go well together. There are WAY TOO MANY books that I don’t understand the hype surrounding them. A couple being Illuminae and A Court of Mist and Fury. I don’t understand the Illuminae hype because I was so bored throughout almost the entire book. A Court of Mist and Fury…Sarah J. Maas did a very horrible thing. I can go into it forever, but I won’t. I just don’t understand the hype at all. I can’t even bring myself to read the other books in the series and honestly, I don’t really want to. Sucks too, because I actually loved the first book so much.

Evil Patrick – A guilty pleasure read (whatever you consider guilty pleasure to mean).

evilpatrick

alexapproximatelyV23 new typeface tagline.indd

I don’t really have an answer for this. I don’t feel guilty about the things that I read. I think I’ll go with books that have to do with the internet/online chatting. I don’t really know how to explain it, lol! But basically the books with the characters meeting online or over texts, etc. Or books that have emails/IM chats/text messages in them. Examples being Alex Approximately and Tell Me Three Things.

Meryl Streep – A book that you’re always hyping up.

merylstreep

ihuntkillersFALLINGKINGDOMS

It’s been awhile since I’ve mentioned this book on here, but I was constantly hyping up the I Hunt Killers series and I am always recommending the Falling Kingdoms series too. I love both of those series so much.

Successful Baby – A book (whether you liked it or not) that you felt accomplished after reading.

successfulbaby

darkestminds

I’ll say The Darkest Minds, because I’ve been wanting to read this book for years and I just never got around to reading it. I FINALLY did and I loved it. I am super stoked for the movie that I am pretty sure released tomorrow. I still need to continue with the series. Hopefully soon!

Pennywise – A book with a promising concept/a book that you had high expectations for, but ultimately let you down.

pennywise

adarkershadeofmagic

It seems like everyone loves A Darker Shade of Magic and the rest of the books in the series. It took me quite awhile to finally get around to reading it. The hype was real to  almost everyone, except for me. It wasn’t a complete let down, but it wasn’t as amazing as everyone likes to say it is. I was mostly bored toward the first half of the book and by the second I was impatiently waiting for it to end. There was still some good moments at the end, but I was expecting “OMG THIS IS SO AMAZING” and didn’t get that. I am currently listening to the audiobook of the sequel, so we’ll see if this series can redeem itself.

Headphones Guy – A audiobook that you enjoyed.

headphoneguy

harry

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and I mostly enjoy them all.  But I LOVED the Harry Potter audiobooks. The narrator is perfect for the series and I think that’s what made me especially fall in love with the books. I didn’t read (well listen in my case) to the books until I was much much older….like three years ago, lol. I chose to go with the audiobooks and I am so glad that I did.

Distracted Guy – Two books; one you’ve been neglecting on your TBR for a long time and a new one that’s distracting you/peaking your interest.

distractedguy

sixofcrowsallyourperfects

OMG, I am neglecting so many dang books on my TBR. I feel so guilty too. The guilt is bad. You’ve probably seen this on quite a bunch of blog posts and lists I’ve done, but I have to thrown it out there again…because maybe if you guys tell me again for the 439853954 time I might finally read it! 😛 I’ve been neglecting Six of Crows. It’s been going on for way too long now. I think something is wrong with me, because I keep continuously checking out books from my library instead of reading my own books. Why are my books not distracting me and peaking my interest enough to want to grab like as soon as I post this? If I had to choose one though, I would go with All Your Perfects. I am dying to read the new Colleen Hoover book, but I am really trying to be good and finish all of these other books that I started and need to read next first. UGH.

I tag everyone to do this tag, because who doesn’t love memes? If you have already done this tag, feel free to link me to your post so I can go check it out! 😀

Book Tag||My Blog’s Name in Books.

booktag

Hey!

I seen Yvo over at It’s All About Books post this “My Blog’s Name in Books” tag and I thought it looked fun, so I am doing it too! This book meme was originally started by Lynne from Fictionophile. My blog’s name is pretty long, so this should be interesting. I used the books on my Goodreads shelf of the TBR books that I own. All linked to Goodreads.

THE RULES:

1.  Spell out your blog’s name. (this is where you wish your blog’s name was shorter LOL)

2. Find a book from your TBR that begins with each letter. (Note you cannot ADD to your TBR to complete this challenge – the books must already be on your Goodread’s TBR)

3. Have fun!

Book Tag|| Mid-Year Freak Out.

booktag

Hey!

I seen this tag over on Kelly’s (Another Book in the Wall) blog and decided to give it a go today. I usually do the mid-year freak out tag every year, so I am excited to do it once again!

1. Best Book You’ve Read This Year?

Definitely a tie between Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes and Inferno by Julie Kagawa. They are both series enders and OMG, they were amazing. The Falling Kingdoms and the Talon Saga forever hold pieces of my heart. They are my two favorite series of all-time now. I am so sad they are over, but holy crap were they everything I could ever hope for!

immortalreigninferno

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read in 2018?

The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan. Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors and he has not disappointed with the Magnus Chase series. The sequel was perfect and I can’t wait to read the next book.

hammerofthor

3. New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To?

SO. MANY. OMG. I’ll stick with books that I own and choose Puddin’ and Leah on the Offbeat. I bought those on their release dates and still haven’t had the chance to get to them yet. I am super stoked for them both.

puddinleah

4. Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year?

I am so stoked for Patrick Ness’ new book And the Ocean Was Our Sky. I need to own and read everything Ness writes, because he is amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on his new book in September.

andtheocean

5. Biggest Disappointment?

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp. I loved her first book so much and her new book sounded like it was going to be really good. It was a pretty big disappointment for me, because it was just way too weird for me and there were a lot of times where I was just beyond annoyed with everything happening. It also didn’t really make sense to me at times and left me more frustrated than anything. It wasn’t for me.

beforeiletgo

6. Biggest Surprise?

I’m going to choose Turtles All the Way Down by John Green for this one. It was a big surprise, because I honestly went into this book thinking that I wasn’t going to like it. John Green’s books are usually a hit or miss and mostly a miss for me. I absolutely loved Turtles All the Way Down though and I was completely shocked that I did! It was so amazing and I already want to reread it again.

turtlesallthewaydown

7. Favorite New To You Or Debut Author?

Holly Black! I read The Cruel Prince and OMG it was amazing! I loved everything about it and I can’t wait to read her other books. I feel like I have been missing out!

thecruelprince

8. Newest Fictional Crush?

Prince Cardan from The Cruel Prince. I loved his character. He’s wicked, he’s cruel, but there is more to him than meets the eye.

thecruelprince

9. Newest Favorite Character?

Penny and Sam from Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi. They were such great characters and I love how they balanced each other out in the book. By the way, Emergency Contact was AMAZING. It was one of my highly anticipated books of the year and it did not disappoint. Loved it.

emergencycontact

10. Book That Made You Cry?

your name. by Makoto Shinkai. HOLY CRAP, AMAZING. Also, the feels. So many feels. I was crying throughout, lol. So damn good though and the movie was even better.

yourname

11. Book That Made You Happy?

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. This book was so damn cute and had me smiling like crazy. Also, Rishi…ahhh, he is also a new fictional crush. LOL 😛

dimple

12. Favorite Book-To-Film Adaptation?

I just watched Every Day this week and the movie was so good. I loved the book by David Levithan so much when I read it back in 2015, so I was stoked when the movie came out. I can’t wait for third book in October.

13. Favorite Post You Have Done This Year?

Honestly, I’m not really sure about this one. I guess one of my picture posts. I posted a few travel ones that were fun to write and share pictures. Linked below:

Travel|| Biscayne National Park.
Travel|| Butterfly World.

14. Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year?

I am going to go with beautiful covers for this one. I am a sucker for beautiful book covers. Isn’t everyone? 😛 My top three that I bought this year so far is Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh, Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, and Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi. I love these covers so much! I still need to read these books too, haha.

reighofthefallenchildrenofbloodandbonearushah

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of the Year?

Again, SO MANY! I want to try to read more of my older books that have been on my shelves the longest. I actually made a list at the beginning of the year of all the older books on my shelves that I want to read this year. A couple being Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.

sixofcrowsadarkershadeofmagic

I have a picture post in the works, but currently I am a bit overwhelmed with it because the last one I did was two months ago. So I have a TON of pictures I want to post on my blog and I also have a ton of pictures I still need to go through. It might just have to be multiple posts, because two months of pictures is A LOT! I also have to catch up with your posts and comments. I’ve been MIA this week, because I haven’t really been in the mood to blog and I have some other things going on, so I’ve been busy. I also feel a cold coming on. Thanks to my sister for getting me sick, ugh. I  needed a little break. I’ll catch up soon! 🙂

Book Tag|| 20 Questions.

booktag

Hey!

I was tagged by Lilly from Lair of Books to do the 20 questions tag. Go check out Lilly’s blog! Her blog is one of my favorites to read and she’s super cool! I am so far behind on doing tags (I have a ton of drafts started, so I know what tags I need to do), so hopefully this will get me in the mood to finally catch up on all those tags!

The Questions:

How many books is too many books in a book series?

+ This is a tough one, because it all really depends on the series. I think I’ll go with five books. I think after that then it’s usually a bit much. I do love the Falling Kingdoms series so much though and that’s six. 😛

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

+ I have a love/hate for cliffhangers. I love them because they are usually really crazy and leave me a wreck. I hate them because if the series isn’t already completely published, then I have to wait until I can read the next book. The wait almost always kills me more than the cliffhanger.

Hardback or paperback?

+ Hmmm….I guess I’ll choose hardback for my official answer. They are a lot prettier and look nicer on my bookshelves. I do love paperbacks though, they are a lot easier to read, not as heavy lol.

Favorite book?

psycho

+ Psycho by Robert Bloch. I loved this book so much. I love that they made a TV show based on Norman Bates (Bates Motel). I actually think this is a series too, but I never got around to reading the other books. I would love to get my hands on copies of them though and read them.

Least favorite book?

cursethelaststarshockofthefallilluminaewewereliars

+ This is a tough question, because I’m not really sure what I would say is my least favorite book. Here are five books that I either gave a 1 or 2 stars to.  The Curse Keepers, The Last Star, The Shock of the Fall, Illuminae, and We Were Liars. Unpopular opinion with Illuminae, but oh well. It was not my jam. I think a lot of people loved We Were Liars too, but I thought it was so boring. I don’t even want to get on the topic of The Last Star, UGHH.

Love triangles, yes or no?

+ No thanks. I find them a bit annoying.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

ihateeveryonebutyou

+ The last book that I could not finish was I Hate Everyone But You by Gaby Dunn. I couldn’t get into it. It was boring. I didn’t like the characters.

A book you’re currently reading?

9781525811418.indd

+ I am currently reading Hot Mess by Emily Belden and also Member of the Family by Dianne Lake. I am hoping to have both of these books finished this week.

Last book you recommended to someone?

roankegirls

+ The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. I told my sister she needed to read it, because it was just so crazy and disturbing.

Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

+ The oldest book I read was The Day Boy and the Night Girl by George MacDonald. It was originally published in 1882. It’s actually one of my favorite stories too.

Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

Love and Other Carnivorous Plantsimmortalreign

+ The newest book that I read was Love & Other Carnivorous Plants by Florence Gonsalves. It actually doesn’t get published until May 15, 2018. The newest book I read that is already released though is Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes.

Favorite author?

+ I’m going to go with Mitch Albom and Rick Riordan for this one. So far I have really enjoyed all of their books that I’ve read. They are also some of my auto-buy authors.

Buying books or borrowing books?

+ I like buying books, but I don’t mind borrowing them. I usually check out e-books and audiobooks from my library a lot.

A book you dislike that everyone else seem to love?

courtfury

+ A Court of Mist and Fury. ACOMAF was not the greatest and also why I don’t even know if I can pick up another Sarah J. Maas book again, to be honest. It was boring a lot of the time, Feyre was annoying AF, Maas messed Tamlin up BADLY. LIKE WTF? It was like he was a completely different person than he was in the first book. Feyre did so much in the first book for her love with Tamlin and then it was completely thrown out the window in this book like it didn’t mean anything. I’m just confused by the entire thing, to be honest. What was the point of ACOTAR? ACOMAF took everything from the first book and threw it out the window. It just shouldn’t have ever existed with what she did with ACOMAF, to be honest. Such a disappointment, because I absolutely loved ACOTAR. I don’t know if I will be continuing the series or not. Haven’t decided.

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

+ Bookmarks! I feel guilty even accidentally messing up any of the pages in my books. I probably have like 100+ bookmarks.

A book you can always reread?

harryenclave

+ Harry Potter series or the Razorland series. I love these two series so much. I am in need of a Harry Potter reread ASAP.

Can you read while hearing music?

+ Not usually. I lose focus on the story if I do. I like complete silence. I discovered this group called Sparrow Sleeps and they do lullaby covers of some of my favorite bands/songs. I end up singing along (even though there are no words), haha.

One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views)

+ I prefer one POV. Sometimes multiple POVs annoy me, especially if there are a TON of them. I read a book once that had like seven POVs and I ended up hating the book. I better connect with the characters when it’s only one. Maybe even two. With the exception of the Falling Kingdoms series….Morgan Rhodes made it easy to connect with all of them. It seems like Falling Kingdoms is the exception for everything. LOL.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

+ Rarely do I ever read a book in one sitting. I am not going to lie, I get distracted a lot (stupid iPhone). So I’ll read some pages, scroll through my phone, read some pages, scroll through my phone, etc. So I usually read over multiple days. There have been a handful of times where I have read books in one sitting though.

A book you’ve read because of the cover?

+ Almost all of them? LOL. Not going to lie, I tend to only look up books if I see a cover that I really love and then I’ll go check out what it’s about. I know that’s bad, haha. But I am guilty of this 9 out of 10 times.

Tag|| The Book Blogger Insider.

booktag

Hey!

I’ve been slacking with tags over the last year and I want to get back into doing them. I think my last tag was even in February 2017 (LOL). I also have been tagged a lot recently and need to play catch up! I was tagged by Avery from Red Rocket Panda to do the Book Blogger Insider tag.

Rules:
1. Answer the questions below
2. Credit the creator Jamie @ALittleSliceofJamie
3. Tag at least 5 people
4. Have fun!

Questions:

Where do you typically write your blog posts?
+
My blog posts actually start as drafts in my “notes” app or as a draft in my email that I later paste and fix up on my blog at a later time. I’m not always near a computer, so I usually draft them on my phone to post later when I am at a computer and can preview them.

How long does it generally take you to write a book review?
+
Honestly, it depends on how I felt about the book. Sometimes I can write them in minutes and other times it can take a lot longer.

When did you start your book blog?
+
I started my blog in January 2015. Ahhh, crazy that it’s already been three years of having my blog. I honestly didn’t think it would last this long.

What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
+
I think coming up with content to post about is one of the worst things about blogging. Sometimes I have no idea what to post about, so I end up not posting at all and I hate doing that.

What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
+
One of the best things is connecting with other bloggers. I love reading other bloggers posts and interacting with them. I’ve met so many awesome bloggers and have had so many cool experiences and opportunities because of blogging.

What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
+ I always have fun doing my picture update posts. I love sharing my pictures and adventures with you guys. You can check out my “photography” tag/category linked here to see posts I’ve done over the years. This also can be listed as my favorite type of blog post as well (next question), but I’ll do a book related one.

What is your favourite type of blog post to write?
+ Book related, I like to do the WWW Wednesday meme. If you’re not sure what that is, here is an example of my most recent one. You basically update about what you’re reading, what you just finished reading, and what you plan to read next. I like sharing what I’ve been reading throughout the week and seeing what everyone else is reading.

When do you typically write?
I usually write them in the mornings before work or at the end of the day after work, to post the next day.

Do you review every book you read?
+
I do not review every book I read. I used to do that, but for some reason I stopped. Right now I usually review super new releases or ARCs. I want to get back into reviewing more books though. That’s one of the reasons why I started this blog in the first place.

How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?
+
I don’t have a typical “how” or anything like that when it comes to writing reviews. I just sit at the computer and type away. I don’t like too many distractions when I do reviews, because then I can’t ever focus on what I am trying to write about.

When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the book? Two weeks after finishing the book?
+
Sometimes I’ll write them right after and other times it can take a day or two. It just depends on how I feel after I read the book. Sometimes I need type to digest everything I’ve read and sort through my thoughts. Other times I already know what I want to say and start writing right away.

How often do you post?
+
Honestly, it varies. Some weeks I’ll post every day. Other weeks I’ll post a few times a week. Sometimes I even skip a week. I get into blogging slumps a lot (which also goes along with the “worst part about blogging”) and just not in the mood to blog.

Shattered Blue by Lauren Bird Horowitz

I talk about this series so much, because it holds a place in my heart. I love the series so much. Bird is also such a cool person and she writes amazing books (and poetry). Shattered Blue is out now and the sequel (Renegade Red) will be released March 14th. It has definitely flown under the radar and I think more people should be reading and talking about it.

I honestly have no idea who to put down for this one. I’m drawing a serious blank. I guess I’ll just go with Hermione from Harry Potter even if I REALLY DO NOT like her at all. She had a strong desire to do good with her school work and didn’t really seem to like having fun very much…..which was annoying. I swear she never let Ron and Harry have fun.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

Mayor Prentiss hands down! His character was brilliant. You wanted to hate him so badly (and at times you really did hate him), but then you also wanted to believe every single thing that came out of his mouth and trust him more than everything (and at times you really did trust him). I think he was very good at manipulating people in the book and even us readers!

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

This was one of my favorite books last year, so I have to include it in this list. I think everyone should read it. It was so good, but keep tissues on hand! I can’t wait to get my hands on Jeff’s new book; Goodbye Days.

This is one of my favorite book cover designs. The cover is so pretty with the yellow, the anchor, and the flowers. Under the dust jacket is even more amazing and pretty! It’s so colorful and I am obsessed with it. It was a total cover by for me, but I am really looking forward to reading it as well.

Howie from I Hunt Killers is SO hilarious. I laugh out loud anytime he opens his mouth. Even if they are in a sticky situation, he has something funny to say.

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
Caraval by Stephanie Gerber

Luckily, these are both out now and I own copies. I can’t wait to dive into them, because they both sound so good. I also LOVE Divergent so much, so I am stoked to see what Carve the Mark is all about.

cny-zodiac-book-tag-dog

I don’t really reread books very often, but I think I’ll go with Harry Potter for this one. The books are so fun to read and I love to watch the movies over and over again.

I bought two Renegade Red inspired jewelry pieces. I wouldn’t say that I spent too much on them though, because they were fairly reasonable pricing and the quality is amazing. It’s probably the most expensive book-related items I have bought. Above is a picture of my red tube bracelet. I haven’t received my second bracelet yet. I will say though as far as too much time goes, I think I invested way too much time into the 5th Wave series only to be completely let down with that ending….WTF?!

Tag|| Netgalley.

netgalley

Hello!

I seen the Netgalley book tag over on Yvo’s blog It’s All About Books and I decided to do it as well. It looks like a lot of fun and I use and love Netgalley! 😛

Rules:

  • Link back to the tag’s creator (Kourtni Reads)
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you
  • Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!

Questions:

Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

So many authors! Here are several (it’s too hard to choose one) that I will automatically read anything they write without question: Barry Lyga (Jasper Dent series), Veronica Roth (Divergent series), Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson series), Lauren Bird Horowitz (the Light trilogy), Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking trilogy), Morgan Rhodes (Falling Kingdoms series), Leigh Bardguo (The Grisha trilogy), Colleen Hoover (Ugly Love), and Mitch Albom (The Five People You Meet In Heaven).

Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

I tend to go for the books that I think (or know) are going to be really popular or if it’s an author that I love. I don’t always love hyped books a lot of the time, so I want to read them before they get even more hyped so I request them as early as I can in hopes that I don’t fall victim to the hype and end up hating the book. If a cover jumps out at me, then I will read the description and if I like it I’ll request that way as well.

Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

I don’t always review every single book I read. If it’s a popular book, then I’ll review it. If it’s a new release, then I’ll review it. I tend to not review older books that have been out for over a couple years. I have reviewed them before, but if I choose not to do a review on a book I read then that’s typically the reasoning behind that decision. I try to review all the books I read though.

As far as Netgalley goes though, I review every single book I request over there or if I am sent ARCs (or already published books) from authors/publishers then I always review those as well. My actual feedback ratio on Netgalley is 100%!

Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

Hmmm…I am not creative at all, so this is a tough question. As far as my reading goes for this year…I think I would probably earn a badge for being in the most reading slumps and for not blogging as much this year. So I guess I create those badges, LOL. Maybe it’ll boost my spirits and get me back on track! I am Queen of the Reading/Blogging Slumps. I have five actual badges on Netgalley.

Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

This is a tough question, because there are a ton of books that I am dying to read! I think I’ll break the rule and mention the top three books that I am dying to read!

caravalthediaboliccarvethemark

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

I want them all! I am dying to read them and the book covers are so amazing. I need to own them as soon as possible. 😛

2016 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

stealingsnowdarkmatter

I think that last ARC that I reviewed was Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige. It wasn’t what I expected and ended up not liking it as much as I had hoped. You can check out my review over here. The last book that I reviewed that wasn’t an ARC was Dark Matter, which I loved more than words could ever explain. You can check out my review over here.

Tag|| Reader Confessions.

readerconfessions

Hi!

I was tagged by Alex from Young at Heart to do the Reader Confessions tag. I’ve been so busy the past few weeks, so I haven’t been updating as much. I haven’t even finished a single book yet this month and it’s driving me crazy! It’s been a bit since I’ve done a tag post and I do have tons to catch up on. Thanks again for tagging me, Alex! 😀

QUESTIONS:

Have you ever damaged a book?

I probably have, but not intentionally. I would never intentionally damage a book. I am actually struggling with this right now for my wedding LOL! I want to have a lot of bookish things incorporated, but I don’t want to damage books in the process haha. I had to order book pages online, so I wouldn’t have to destroy books myself.

Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

I don’t borrow books very often and I don’t think I have ever damaged a borrowed book. If I had, then again it wouldn’t have been intentionally.

How long does it take you to read a book?

Sometimes it can take me a week or longer to finish a book. Depending on my mood and if I am enjoying the book. I can also read a book in a day or two as well. It all just depends on how I am feeling about the book and my mood. I tend to get into a lot of reading slumps.

Books that you haven’t finished?

I’ve started to DNF a lot of books over the last year and a half, but the ones that come to mind off the top of my head are:

papertownsneveralwayssometimesnevernight

Paper Towns by John Green
Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Paper Towns was annoying. I didn’t like the characters and it wasn’t that exciting. Never Always Sometimes was giving me the Paper Towns vibe and I just could not do it. Nevernight had so many things wrong with it for me, but I still want to give it another chance one day. I had an eARC of the book and the footnotes were at the end of the chapter, which was annoying to have to switch back and forth on an e-reader/Kindle. It was a really slow start where I found myself bored to death and I was also REALLY confused with everything going on. When I would stop reading for the day and pick it up the next day, I couldn’t remember anything that happened because I was just not at all invested in it. The footnotes and excessive descriptions of things made it hard to enjoy.

Hyped popular books that you don’t like?

Sometimes I struggle with hyped books. It’s hard for me to get past all the hype and actually enjoy the book. There have been tons of books where I’m just like “why do people love this so much?”.

wewereliarsilluminaethewrath

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff/Amie Kaufman
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

We Were Liars was just plain boring. Nothing exciting happened. The characters were flat. The ending was kind of lame. Illuminae had a cool concept and the layout was interesting, but the story itself was not that great. There were a lot of things I found annoying with the Wrath and the Dawn and the book itself was just confusing, especially with all the characters having so many names and it being so hard to pronounce a lot of the names. I spent more time trying to remember names and pronunciations than actually being able to enjoy the book. I found it to be pretty boring as well. I also didn’t really enjoy the the Lunar Chronicles that much. Some books were okay and others were pretty boring. It was also SO hard for me to get through Throne of Glass, because it was so boring and not a lot happened. Everyone swears the series gets better, so I will probably read the second book and see.

Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

Nope, I don’t think so. I don’t think anyone should be ashamed about what books they read or loved.

How many books do you own?

As of right now I own a little over 600 books. That’s with Kindle and physical books. I actually have a page on my blog that shows you all the books that I own. 331 physical books and 282 Kindle books, lol! I’m drowning in books.

Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?

I am definitely a slow reader. It’s kind of annoying at times, because I have so many books that I own that I would love to read.

Do you like to buddy read?

Yes! Buddy reading is a lot of fun. I haven’t done a buddy read in awhile though!

Do you read better in your head or out loud?

Definitely read better in my head. I don’t think I ever read out loud. I might if there is a lot of background noise and I am finding it hard to concentrate.

If you were only allowed to own one book what one and why?

Nooooooooooo! This is the worst question in the history of bookish questions! I guess I’ll go with my favorite book and that is Psycho by Robert Bloch. I love that book so much and it’s so entertaining.

Hey!

I seen Maren over at The Worn Bookmark did the Goodreads book tag and I decided that it looked fun and to do it myself! It’s also been awhile since I’ve done a tag and I noticed a lot of fun ones circling around. You can check out more of my Goodreads page over here and feel free to add me as a friend! Now onto the questions!

What is the last book you marked as “READ”?

shatteringglass

Shattering Glass by Gail Giles

I actually really enjoyed this one a lot, although the ending could have been better. I wanted more, but was left hanging! It was still really good. Here’s the Goodreads book description in case you’re interested:

Simon Glass was easy to hate. . . . I guess, really we each hated him for a different reason, but we didn’t realize it until the day we killed him. Fat, clumsy Simon Glass is a loser who occupies the lowest rung on the high school social ladder. Rob, a transfer student with charisma to spare, immediately becomes the undisputed leader of the senior class. And he has plans for Simon. Rob enlists the help of his crew—wealthy, intellectual Young, ladies’ man Bob, and sweet, athletic Coop—in a mission: Turn Simon from total freak to prom king. But as Simon rises to the top of the social ranks, he shows a new confidence and a devious side that power-hungry Rob did not anticipate. And when Simon uncovers a dangerous secret, events darken. The result is disquieting, bone-chilling . . . and brutal.

What are you currently reading?

annaandthefrenchkiss

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I am about 90 pages into Anna and the French Kiss and it’s pretty enjoyable so far. It seems like a fun fast read and it’s definitely what I want right now. Here is the Goodreads book description in case you’re interested:

Anna has everything figured out – she was about to start senior year with her best friend, she had a great weekend job, and her huge work crush looked as if it might finally be going somewhere… Until her dad decides to send her 4383 miles away to Paris. On her own. But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna finds herself making new friends, including Etienne, the smart, beautiful boy from the floor above. But he’s taken – and Anna might be too. Will a year of romantic near-missed end with the French kiss she’s been waiting for?

What was the last book you marked as “TO READ”?

howtokeeprollingafterafall

How to Keep Rolling After a Fall by Karole Cozzo

The last book that I added to my “TO READ” shelf on Goodreads was How to Keep Rolling After a Fall. It sounds really good and so far it has pretty good rating. Here is the Goodreads book description in case you’re interested:

After a cyber bullying incident turns her life upside down, a handsome wheelchair rugby player shows a former mean girl that everyone deserves a second chance. The party was at her house. The photos were posted to her Facebook account. That’s all the evidence anyone needed to condemn Nikki Baylor for a cyberbullying incident that humiliated a classmate and nearly resulted in the girl’s suicide. Now Nikki’s been expelled from her old school, her friends have abandoned her, and even her own parents can’t look her in the eye. With her plans for the future all but destroyed, Nikki resigns herself to being the girl everyone hates – almost as much as she hates herself. But then Nikki meets Pax, a spirited wheelchair rugby player who knows what it’s like when one mistake completely shatters your life. Refusing to judge her because of her past, he shows her that everyone deserves a second chance… and everyone deserves to be loved.

What book do you plan on reading next?

itendswithus

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

It Ends With Us will be delivered to my doorstep on release day (Tuesday!!!!) and I plan to drop everything and lock myself in my room and read and read and read. I am so stoked for this! No book description, it’s quite long, but it’s CoHo…you don’t really need a description. JUST READ IT! 😛

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes, I use their star rating system. If I think something deserves a half star (ex: 2.5, 3.5, etc.) then I usually give it the lesser star. So a 2.5 would get a 2, a 3.5 would get a 3, etc. I don’t ever give it the star above it, because if it deserved the higher star than it wouldn’t have been a half. If any of that makes any sense, lol.

Are you doing the 2016 Reading Challenge?

YES, of course I am! I had my reading challenge set to read 75 books this year, but I am already at 61 books, so I actually just increased my challenge today to 100 books. I’m sure I can make that happen.

Do you have a wishlist?

I don’t really have a wishlist. I guess I have an Amazon wishlist, but it’s not current with the books that I want. I usually just buy what I want and have no time for wishlists, lol. I’m trying to step back from buying books though.

What book do you plan on buying next?

Even though I am trying to stay away from buying books, I do have some preorders floating around until the end of the year. The next two preorders that are coming next week are:

harrypottercursedchilditendswithus

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

I am VERY stoked about both of these books, because JK ROWLING, HARRY POTTER, COLLEEN HOOVER. Enough said. GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVE ME!

What is your favorite quote?

Hmmm…good question, I think I will go with one of my recent favorite quotes from the book My Kind of Crazy by Robin Reul:

mykindofcrazy

“There are so many things in life that you simply can’t control. You just have to accept them, even if they don’t make sense.”

Who are your favorite authors?

I guess I have tons of favorite: Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth, Mitch Albom, Morgan Rhodes, Colleen Hoover, Rick Riordan, Lauren Bird Horowitz.

Are you a part of any Goodreads groups?

I am a part of some book club groups, but I haven’t really been active in any of them anymore. I don’t really use the groups feature very much.

What could Goodreads do better?

I don’t really have anything negative to say about Goodreads. I mostly just use it to keep track of the books that I read and want to read. I guess half star ratings option would be nice and beneficial.

I tag everyone! This was a lot of fun and I want to see all of your answers, so please feel free to link me to your post, so I can check them out. Or if you already did this post, comment below with your link and I’ll go check them out!

Tag|| Book Buying Habits.

bookbuyinghabits

Hello!

I was tagged by Jesse from @ Books at Dawn to do the book buying habits tag. This looks like such a fun tag and it’ll be cool sharing my book buying habits with you guys!

Questions:

Where do you buy your books from?

I buy my books from Target, Amazon, and BookOutlet.com. They all have fairly decent pricing on books, especially Amazon and BookOutlet.com. Other book stores are just way too pricey for me.

Do you ever pre-order books and if so do you do this in store or online?

Sometimes I do pre-order books if I really want it right away or if it’s a favorite author. Sometimes if an author or publisher is giving away bookish goodies for pre-ordering, then I do that as well. I usually always pre-order from Amazon.

On average, how many books do you buy a month?

OMG this question, TOOOO MANY! 😛 Lately it has been 20+ books; physical and e-books.

Do you use your local library?

I do use my library’s online database for audiobooks and e-books. I don’t actually go into my library and check books out. I have my own library of books (e-book and physical) that I should probably be reading though. I have a bad habit of buying tons of books and then getting e-books from the library.

What is your opinion on library books?

I think libraries are important and pretty amazing as well. I know there are tons of people that love reading, but can’t always afford to buy every single book. So it’s nice that there are places for people to read for free. I think everyone should utilize their library!

How do you feel about second hand books?

Love them. I actually became addicted to getting second hand books from Goodwill or other thrift stores. You would actually be surprised by the amazing quality of the books you can find too! I can get almost perfect condition books from $0.75-$2!

Do you keep your TBR pile on your main bookshelves or no?

I don’t really have a TBR pile. All of my books are on my shelves in random places. I actually don’t really have them set up in any particular way. I’m waiting until I get my new shelves to organize them. So they are all mixed together whether I have read them yet or not.

Do you plan to read all of the books you own?

I HOPE SO! Realistically though, probably not. I’ve gotten so many books and some don’t sound as appealing as they did when I first got them.

What do you do with books you feel you will never read/did not enjoy?

They just sit on my bookshelves with the others or I might give them to my sister. I don’t really do anything with them.

Have you ever donated books?

I have never donated books, but I have been really thinking about it a lot. The previous question I mentioned that I don’t do anything with the books that I will never read/did not enjoy, so I am thinking of donating them.

Have you ever been on a book buying ban?

I’ve tried book buying bans, but they never seem to work. I love buying books and I don’t really want to stop doing something I love to do.

Do you feel that you buy too many books?

I probably do buy too many books, but I love them. I’m working on not feeling guilty about buying so many, because I don’t think I should feel guilty for something I love.

Tag||Mid-Year Freak Out.

freakouttag

Hello!

I seen the mid-year freak out tag floating around, so I thought I would do it too since it’s now June and 2016 is pretty much half over. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! So far this year I have read (and listened to) 51 books, which is pretty awesome.

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ YET IN 2016.

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner and Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. I loved these two books so much and I will auto-buy anything Jeff and Colleen write. You can check out my review for Maybe Someday over here and my review for The Serpent King over here.

serpentkingmaybesomeday

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2016.

Solider by Julie Kagawa and Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes. These two books were so amazing and I love both series so much. Solider is the third book and Frozen Tides is the fourth book in their series. Definitely two of my all-time favorite series and I am dying for the next books in both! The Talon series forever has my heart and I love Julie Kagawa.

soldierfrozentides

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO.

I’ve gotten quite a few new releases this year so far that I of course haven’t read yet, lol. A couple that I really want to read soon are A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro; a twist on Sherlock Holmes, YES PLEASE! The Last Star by Rick Yancey; I love the 5th Wave series and I am dying to see how it all ends. I’ve seen quite a few people disappointed though and I’m scared.

astudyincharlottethelaststar

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR.

There are so many! Two that are at the top of my list are: Crystal Storm by Morgan Rhodes; Frozen Tides had a pretty epic ending and I am dying to see what happens next. December can’t get here soon enough! It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover; CoHo, enough said. I will forever read anything she writes. You can check out more from my Top Ten Tuesday list from last week over here.

crystalstormitendswithus

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT.

The Heir by Kiera Cass. I really enjoyed the first three books in the Selection series, but The Heir was just horrible. I didn’t like the main character, it was so boring, and it was just a repeat of the Selection only worse. I would also say that Seven Ways We Lie was pretty bad too. It was too hard to connect with the characters and there were way too many POVs and they weren’t done that well. You can check out my review over here.

theheirsevenways

BIGGEST SURPRISE.

The Siren by Kiera Cass. I wasn’t really sure that I would like it, but it ended up being pretty awesome. You can check out my review over here.

thesiren

FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR.

Morgan Rhodes and Colleen Hoover. I’ve never read their books before this year and I’ve been binge reading all their books this year. They are all so good! I need more!

52951205430144

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH.

Magnus from the Falling Kingdoms series. It’s kind of funny, because I actually first started off not liking him at all. He grew on me throughout the series though and now I have the biggest fictional crush on him right now.

FALLINGKINGDOMS

NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER.

Kelsier from Mistborn. He was  hilarious and had me cracking up so much throughout the book. He was such a well written character.

mistborn

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY.

The Serpent King had me crying so much and throughout the entire book. Also, pretty much every single Colleen Hoover book that I read this year so far, which is five LOL. I think Ugly Love had me crying the most though. UGLY CRYING! You can check out my review of Ugly Love over here. Winger also made me cry and I am still shocked by the way that it ended. You can check out my review of Winger over here.

serpentkinguglylovewinger

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY.

Everland by Wendy Spinale. This book was so much fun to read. It’s a steampunk retelling of Peter Pan. Such fun characters and story. You can check out my review over here.

FAVORITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION.

I’m going to go with The 5th Wave. That’s the only book to film adaptation that I believe I’ve seen this year. I really liked it.

FAVORITE POST YOU HAVE DONE THIS YEAR.

I haven’t been the best at blogging this year. I’ve been so busy with other things, but here are a few of my favorite posts.

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR.

I take it you mean book cover? If so, I love the covers for The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone. Under the dust jacket it’s so cute. See…

img_6332

WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

ALL OF MY BOOKS! LOL. I want to try to catch up with series that I started but haven’t finished or read sequels that I haven’t read yet. I have so many unfinished series that I need to finish or catch up with. Here are a few of them:

2075810514061957glass sword24120519

Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
And so many more!

I’m not going to tag anyone, but I want everyone to do it! It’ll be fun looking at everyone’s progress through the first half of this year. If you do this tag (or did it already), please feel free to link me, so I can check them out! 😀

I hope you have a great day!

Tag||Burn, Rewrite, Reread.

burnrewriterereadtag

Hi! 🙂

I am super behind on all things with my blog and I apologize for that. Its been one crazy month for me. So much going on! I know I’ve mentioned a few times already about the craziness of getting prepared to go on vacation to California next Friday. It’s actually a lot crazier than it probably should be, but that’s because I never really been on vacation like this before and I am so unprepared. Anyway, I will actually be having a few posts coming your way ASAP! Book haul, a wrap up, and a review on Winger. I have tons of tags to catch up on as well and will hopefully be getting to those soonish! Thanks so much for sticking around though even with me being a little bit MIA this month. Hopefully in March I can get back into the swing of things.

Today I have a tag post for you guys though! I was tagged by the awesome Jesse from Books At Dawn to do the burn, rewrite, reread tag.

Rules:

  • Randomly choose 3 books. (Use the ‘random’ option on your Goodreads read shelf. Thanks for that tip, it makes this so much easier)
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread. (A lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill.)
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds (or five)

Round One:

21853677siegeandstormsixearlierdays

Burn: Don’t Stay Up Late by R.L. Stine. I love R.L. Stine books and this one was good, but it wasn’t better than the others in this round.

Rewrite: Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I would definitely rewrite Siege and Storm so fast if I had the chance. It was so boring and a whole lot of nothing going on.

Reread: Six Earlier Days by David Levithan. I really enjoyed reading this novella and seeing more of A’s days.

Round Two:

numberthestars1200002015881

Burn: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. I read this book in middle school I believe and it was good at the time I read it, but I honestly don’t really remember much of the book.

Rewrite: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. Chamber of Secrets was pretty good, but it could have been better. Like completely rewriting Hermione out of the series. SORRY. I just really do not like her.

Reread: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. I loved this book so much. I loved the characters and the stories. One of my favorite reads last year.

Round Three:

shockofthefall7137327whistlingpastthegraveyard

Burn: The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer. This book was just horrible. If I could burn it more than once I totally would.

Rewrite: Whistling Past the Graveyard by Susan Crandall. Ahhhh, I loved this book so much and I guess there could be a couple things that happened that I would have liked to change. Honestly though, this book was so good.

Reread: Enclave by Ann Aguirre. I love the Razlorland series so much. It’s one of my favorite series and I would love to reread them all again.

The reread and rewrite for this round was actually the hardest one out of the three rounds. I loved both of these books so much.

I seen this floating around quite a bit, so I am going to tag everyone to do this tag. It was a lot of fun to do, so do it! I would love to see your answers, so please feel free to share your posts with me.

I hope you have an awesome Monday! Hopefully I’ll have my Winger review up in a couple days. I am actually having a difficult time writing it. I really enjoyed it, but I don’t know how to put it all down into words.

SO MANY BOOKS! I am going to say Red Queen, because I absolutely loved that book so much. Also, Glass Sword is going to be released soon and it’s been on my mind a lot lately.

Food— A book that is a close second on your favorites list.

I actually prefer food over water. 😛 Can I forever choose the Jasper Dent series? This series made it to my favorites list last year. I also really like to eat and there are three books in the series, so it’s a win.

Shelter — A book that makes you feel at home and safe.

lightningthiefseaofmonsterstitanscursebattleofthelabyrinththelastolympian

Okay, so this may be a weird answer because there are so many dangers in this series. I am going to say Percy Jackson and the Olympians though. Camp Half-Blood ALL THE WAY! I just feel like if I was at Camp Half-Blood I would feel really safe and at home.

Flare Gun — A book you would recommend to someone who doesn’t read.

thegiver

Hmm… I think I’ll go with The Giver, because it’s a really short read and it’s a lot of fun. I also think it’s a good story for all ages.

Matchsticks — A book that warms your heart.

takemewith you16058610

I have two for this one, because it’s hard to choose. Those being Take Me With You by Catherine Ryan Hyde and Whistling Past the Graveyard by Susan Crandall. So much love for these beautifully written books.

Compass — A book that directed you towards your love of reading.

I always say the Hunger Games, because that series definitely jump started my love for reading again and it changed my whole outlook on other genres. I used to only stick to nonfiction and autobiographies. I also want to say that the Divergent series kept me wanting to keep reading after the Hunger Games. Those two series helped me find a new love for reading.

Hey!

I’ve been kind of busy and just forgot about the 12 Days of Christmas Blogging challenge, oops! I’ll post the last two days in this same post!

Day 11: What was your favorite childhood Christmas present.

I received tons of toys that I loved when I was a child. Here are a few of my favorite ones that I loved the most.

I had the black Furby, which at the time my dad told me was a rare one to find. I had a pink Talkboy, which was so fun! I used to record tapes all the time. And the Hit Clips. I had so many of those little clips and I think the O-Town one was my favorite, haha. I miss those toys! I also really loved Tamagotchi too! I think I still have a couple of those laying around my house.

Day 12: What are you grateful for this Christmas?

There are so many things for me to be grateful for! I’m going to throw this out there and first say that I am grateful I am finished with my Christmas shopping. I swear it was the biggest source of stress for me this month and part of why I just completely checked out with doing anything at all. I was so stressed about Christmas and what to get everyone that I just couldn’t even focus to do any reading or anything. I just played games or watched movies.

I am grateful for my family and my furbabies. They always brighten my day even when this month was a complete mess for me. I am grateful for my bosses, because they completely saved Christmas for me this year. I’m grateful that some of my family from Illinois were able to come down and spend Christmas with us. We had an awesome family Christmas party and I’m sure Christmas day will be great too! I’m just grateful for everything and YOU GUYS! It hasn’t been the best year for me at all, but I still have lots to be grateful for regardless.

That is all for this challenge! It was so fun sharing all the things I love about Christmas. I really enjoy this holiday so much even if this month was super stressful. I am so ready to start a new year and crossing my fingers for a better one! 😀 I am kind of also glad that Christmas is almost here and gone, because I really need to get back into reading. I haven’t done the most reading this month, sigh.

I gotta get to work! I hope you have a great day! ❤

Hi,

So I skipped a day, because I was out of town for the family Christmas party! That was a lot of fun and always exciting! 🙂 I do have a weekend of blog posts to read and a couple to write up myself. For this challenge though, I’ll do day nine and ten together.

Day Nine: Who will be sitting with you for Christmas dinner?

It’s usually my mom, my aunt, my older sister, my younger sister, my niece, my nephew, and my boyfriend at Christmas dinner. Sometimes my mom and aunt’s friend John will come to our holiday dinners as well. This year though, we have family visiting for Christmas. So it’ll be all of us (listed above) and then my brother, his wife, and their three kids. It’ll be one packed Christmas dinner this year! It’ll be fun though, because we were all at the family Christmas party my cousin Michelle was hosting and that was so much fun!

Day Ten: Favorite Christmas movie or song.

I love a lot of Christmas songs, but for the life of me I cannot think of any of the names, lol. So we’ll go with favorite movie. I have a lot of favorite movies, so I will list them all. You may have already seen this list before in another post, but it doesn’t hurt to share twice. 😀

homealone2jingleallthewayelfthesantaclause

  • Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
  • Jingle All the Way
  • Elf
  • The Santa Clause
  • A Christmas Story
  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon one)
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas

achristmasstorychristmasvacationgrinchcharliebrownchristmas

So far this month I have watched Elf, Christmas Vacation, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I’ll probably watch The Santa Clause tonight while I am wrapping up some Christmas presents and possibly Jingle All the Way too, because that is definitely my top one out of all of these. The boyfriend bought it for my for Christmas last year and then let me have it early since I kept missing it on TV that year.

Who do you spend Christmas dinner with? What are your favorite Christmas movies and songs? Let me know! 😀

I hope you have an amazing Sunday! ❤

Day Eight: Share a local Christmas tradition in your town or country.

I moved to my current town about four years ago and I don’t know too many things that they have going on for Christmas. I know at the beach they have a parade called the Candy Cane Parade. I live pretty much walking distance to the beach and this beach has a little strip of bars and restaurants and then across the little strip is the actual sand and ocean. Every year they have this parade on the strip, which is always cool.

There are tons of Christmas floats, decorated cars, marching bands, etc. Of course at the end of the parade comes Santa! Everyone that is participating in the parade throws out candy canes for all the kids to collect. Who doesn’t love candy canes!? 😀 It’s always fun seeing all the deocrated cars and floats. It’s always so colorful and it’s awesome that it’s right on the beach. I’ve gone a couple times to the parade and enjoyed it the times I’ve gone.

What is a Christmas tradition in your town?

So stoked that it’s almost the weekend! I am off to stay with my cousin tonight and Saturday is the family Christmas party! Some family from Illinois came down, so there will be even more people than last year! Sorry for the lack of bookish posts. I promise to get back into those soon! It’s been a crazy month for me. December usually always is, especially at my work and the fact that I have been so stressed out over Christmas this year! I haven’t been reading as much as I hoped I would. I will hoping finish two books from my TBR before the month ends though.

Day Seven. – Christmas pictures from over the years.

I hope you have a great Friday! ❤

Day Seven: A photo day, share some Christmas pictures past or present.

I wasn’t able to find lots of pictures of Christmas over the years, besides mostly my decorating over the year. LOL. I love decorating for Christmas, which I have said so many times already! WARNING: Christmas tree heavy! Here you go! 😀

Christmas 2011.

That year were were in a tiny apartment, so we had a super tiny tree!
There’s the boyfriend and Santa Dax! 😛

Christmas 2012.

We upgraded to a bigger tree! I also had three Christmas trees in my living room that year, haha. Four if you count the picture of a tree on the wall that you can’t see. I love Christmas trees!

Christmas 2013.

We had a pink mini Christmas tree that year and that’s the year we got ColbyJack! Awww, little baby Colby! 😀
That’s my niece and nephew decorating my mom’s Christmas tree that year.
And ColbyJack and Dax messing with the Christmas tree, of course!

Christmas 2014.

Oh, hey! I was Santa Claus this Christmas. HAHAHA. This was fun and totally random. I think I make a good Santa, what do you think? The furbabies love Christmas trees too. Dax with my mom’s tree and Colby with ours.

Christmas 2015.

I’ve shared quite a few Christmas pictures from this year already over here, so feel free to check those out! Here is a really cute one of ColbyJack and my Christmas setup right now.

I am such a fan of Christmas, especially the decorating (obviously)! I really can’t believe Christmas is next week! This must be some kind of joke! 😛 This month flew by!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures! Feel free to check out some of my other recent posts linked down below! 🙂

Day Six: Share a fond childhood Christmas memory.

I have such a horrible memory, especially with remembering childhood things. Let’s see if I can remember anything! I don’t remember too many actual Christmases, but when I was a kid from when I was a baby until after 2nd grade I used to live in Illinois. We actually kind of lived on a park (South Island Park in Wilmington IL). There was a huge hill (which our house was on top of it) and then it was the park. Our backyard was basically the park, which was awesome.

Anyway, our house was on this huge hill and when it snowed it would be covered in it. So we had the perfect sledding area! It was always so much fun sledding. I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone sledding, sigh. We also built snowmen at the end of the hill. I remember my dad had this awesome idea of putting food coloring in water spray bottles with water. After we would build the snowmen, we would spray them with the colored water and we would have colorful snowmen. They always turned out awesome.

What is one of your childhood Christmas memories?
