A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness – REVIEW.

I technically got the illustrated version of this book this year, but I had the e-book since last year and so I am counting it for this month lol. I am pretty sure I won’t be able to complete this challenge by the end of the year, so I am taking what I can get! LOL! I need to read 15 more of my older books to complete this challenge, sigh. Maybe I can get some on audiobook to help!

I only read one book toward my Read My Books challenge this month. I was hoping I could read a lot more for this challenge, but I failed. I blame this reading slump I’ve been stuck in! I’ll have my recap post coming soon of the other books that I read this month. I am hoping to have my September book haul posted tomorrow. I also want to try to have my Halloweenie TBR posted really soon as well. The end of the month seriously snuck up on me and I haven’t gotten around to taking my haul pictures or making my Halloweenie TBR list. UGHHH! Hopefully I can get all of that done tonight!

I have been doing really bad with this reading challenge this year, but in July I actually did really good! I was able to read five books toward this challenge. One (To Kill a Mockingbird) I started myself and finished it as an audiobook. I actually enjoyed all five of these books, so that was a huge plus as well! Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

I was able to actually finish a book for my read my books challenge. I’ve been horrible with this challenge this year, ughhh. I stayed up last night to finish the last 200 pages of Illuminae (review to come). I finished at 11:40pm, so 20 minutes before July 1st. 😛 It’s so sad that I’ve only read 7 of 30 older books on my shelves. I need to stop borrowing library books and read my own books, lol. I also need to mix it up and read my older books instead of newer books I get, sigh. Maybe July will be better? lol. Crossing my fingers!

I sadly did not read any books toward my challenge this month. I was hoping to at least read one, which would have been The Darkest Minds, but that did not happen. OOPS! Hopefully in June I can get a few older books read. My goal is thirty older books, but I’ve only read six and it’s already the middle of the year YIKES!

I’ll have my May recap/wrap up post up tomorrow. I still have one book to hopefully finish today, so I can add it to my post. I only have about 70 pages left, so it’s doable. I did post my May book haul yesterday and you can check that out over here.

I’ve been kind of doing horrible with my read my books challenge this year and this one I had to do some major justifying by asking Maren if it was okay LOL! So I own both of these books and Alienated is one that has been one I’ve had for awhile. I technically borrowed the audiobooks from the library and listened to them, but I figured it should count since I do own the books. So I am “reading” (or borrowing haha) books I already own. 😛 She said it was okay, so I was able to knock off two books from the list of older books I own this month.

Random update about last month; I was able to finish The Ask and the Answer before the month ended. I had posted my update post before I finished the book, but I made it just in time to finish the book before the month ended; so I was able to update my blog post and count it.

My April book haul post to come soon; probably tomorrow. Be on the look out for that! I’ll also have my recap post up of the books I read in April at the end of this week. I am hoping I can get in at least two more books before the end of the month (one I’m reading myself and one audiobook).

I completely failed with my read my books challenge this month. I wasn’t able to complete any of my older books. I’ve been in a terrible reading slump and it has also been one busy month for me. I am really hoping that next month will be better. I did manage to read half of The Ask and the Answer and had I finished that book, then it would have been been counted toward this challenge. 😦

I was able to finish The Ask and the Answer in March! So it wasn’t a complete fail, haha. ALMOST though! 😛 

I’ll have my March book haul post up in an hour or two, so be on the look out for that!

One of my favorite bloggers, Maren from The Worn Bookmark, came up with this pretty awesome book challenge to read the books you already have on your shelves. I know that I went book buying crazy this year and so many of them are now collecting dust. Tons of them were some of my highly anticipated books of the year! Sigh. I also used the library a lot more this year as well. I want to tackle some of these older books and that is where the 2016 Read My Books Challenge comes into play!

The Rules:

• Count up your unread books (whether physical, Kindle, ebook, audiobook, etc) and decide on how many you of those books you want to read in 2016.  You can make a list and include that in your sign-up post or you can just include the number.  I chose to create a page on my blog that has my entire physical book collection with the titles read bolded to help me keep track. 
• Create your sign-up post with your total number unread and the number that you want to accomplish reading in 2016 and link to it Maren’s sign-up link. Sign-ups are open until January 10 @ 9 am CST.
• When (if) you do your monthly review posts, add a line to show your progress and link up your posts to Maren’s 2016 RMHLC monthly update posts.
• Optional: As you’re reading books for this challenge, feel free to use the hashtag #2016readmybooks on Twitter and Instagram to share the books you are reading.

Sounds simple enough! I will be linking Maren’s page down below and it has the above rules as well as the sign-up link! There will also be an International giveaway (13 chances to win!) at the end of the year for $30 USD to Book Depository as long as they ship to your country! So please feel free to join in on the challenge! My Challenge:

For my 2016 challenge I am going to choose 30 books to read by the end of 2016. That way I can still read others as well! You don’t have to make a TBR for the challenge (unless you want to, of course), so have fun with it and read whatever you like! I thought about choosing the books beforehand, but I will be updating my TBR jar at the end of the year and using that for a lot of this challenge. I think I will make a second TBR jar in 2016 for the books I buy in 2016, so I can get my older books read for this challenge as well as some of those newer books! I will be doing both Kindle books and physical books. I made pages on my blog for all the books that I own. I’ll link you to those pages below.
