Book Haul|| June.

bookhaulyellow

Hey!

It’s that time again to post my June book haul! Most of my book haul are e-books, but I did buy one book this month that was not an e-book. Since I am not currently home (still in Illinois), I don’t have pictures of my own books that I bought this month, so I’m just using the one from Goodreads. You can check out a full list of the books that I own over here. There’s links to different pages on my blog that show my e-books and my physical books.

Books I Bought:

burn

Burn by Patrick Ness

I pre-ordered Patrick Ness’ new book Burn, because I love him and have to own everything he writes. I don’t always love his books 100% (I do enjoy them all though), I can’t help but want to read and own everything he writes. I am really stoked to read this one.

Netgalley:

instantkarmaboyfriendmaterial

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

I was so excited when I got approval emails for Instant Karma and Boyfriend Material on Netgalley. They both sound so good and I am stoked to read and review them. It’ll be interesting reading a contemporary novel from Marissa Meyer. I didn’t really love the Lunar Chronicles series, so I’m curious how I will like this one from her.

E-Books:

dontreadthecommentsinfinitenoiseyesnomaybesowellmetwildandcrooked

Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith
The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen
Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli, Aisha Saeed
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
Wild and Crooked by Leah Thomas

phantomlimbsopiumhighschoolfindingchikarumblefish

Phantom Limbs by Paula Garner
Opium and Absinthe by Lydia Kang
High School by Sara Quin, Tegan Quin
Finding Chika by Mitch Albom
Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton

There were so many good deals for e-books this month. These are the ones that I decided to get. It was so hard not to get every single deal that I saw though, haha. A lot of these I have been waiting quite a while for them to go on sale. I can’t wait to read them.

What new books did you get in June? Have you read any of the ones that I got? Feel free to link me to your haul post, so I can check it out!

I will most likely have my June wrap up posted tomorrow. I am crossing my fingers that I finish my current read today before the month ends, so I can include it. I only have about 75 pages left, so I can do it! I just have to stop watching RuPaul’s Drag Race long enough to finish it. I started watching all the seasons of it and I’m now currently on season ten.

I hope you have a great day!

Friday Finds #87.

fridayfinds

These are books that I have added to my Goodreads TBR shelves recently. I don’t own them (YET), but they are books that I really want to read one day!

Hey!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done this type of post. I think my last time was in February, oops. Today, I have five books that I recently added to my Goodreads shelf to share with you today. I’ve included the book descriptions below and linked them to Goodreads as well, in case you want to add them to your TBR. You can see more of my TBR shelves over on my Goodreads account over here and feel free to add me as a friend!

blazewrathgames

Blazewrath Games by Amparo Ortiz

Goodreads Description: Lana Torres has always preferred dragons to people. In a few weeks, sixteen countries will compete in the Blazewrath World Cup, a tournament where dragons and their riders fight for glory in a dangerous relay. Lana longs to represent her native Puerto Rico in their first ever World Cup appearance, and when Puerto Rico’s Runner—the only player without a dragon steed—is kicked off the team, she’s given the chance. But when she discovers that a former Blazewrath superstar has teamed up with the Sire—a legendary dragon who’s cursed into human form—the safety of the Cup is jeopardized. The pair are burning down dragon sanctuaries around the world and refuse to stop unless the Cup gets cancelled. All Lana wanted was to represent her country. Now, to do that, she’ll have to navigate an international conspiracy that’s deadlier than her beloved sport.

felixeverafter

Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender

Goodareads Description: Felix Love has never been in love—and, yes, he’s painfully aware of the irony. He desperately wants to know what it’s like and why it seems so easy for everyone but him to find someone. What’s worse is that, even though he is proud of his identity, Felix also secretly fears that he’s one marginalization too many—Black, queer, and transgender—to ever get his own happily-ever-after. When an anonymous student begins sending him transphobic messages—after publicly posting Felix’s deadname alongside images of him before he transitioned—Felix comes up with a plan for revenge. What he didn’t count on: his catfish scenario landing him in a quasi–love triangle…. But as he navigates his complicated feelings, Felix begins a journey of questioning and self-discovery that helps redefine his most important relationship: how he feels about himself.

houseofdragons

House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess

Goodreads Description: Five royal houses will hear the call to compete in the Trial for the dragon throne. A liar, a soldier, a servant, a thief, and a murderer will answer it. Who will win? When the Emperor dies, the five royal houses of Etrusia attend the Call, where one of their own will be selected to compete for the throne. It is always the oldest child, the one who has been preparing for years to compete in the Trial. But this year is different. This year, these five outcasts will answer the call…. THE LIAR: Emilia must hide her dark magic or be put to death. THE SOLDIER: Lucian is a warrior who has sworn to never lift a sword again. THE SERVANT: Vespir is a dragon trainer whose skills alone will keep her in the game. THE THIEF: Ajax knows that nothing is free–he must take what he wants. THE MURDERER: Hyperia was born to rule and will stop at nothing to take her throne.

datingmakesperfect

Dating Makes Perfect by Pintip Dunn

Goodreads Description: The Tech sisters don’t date in high school. Not because they’re not asked. Not because they’re not interested. Not even because no one can pronounce their long, Thai last name—hence the shortened, awkward moniker. But simply because they’re not allowed. Until now. In a move that other Asian American girls know all too well, six months after the older Tech twins got to college, their parents asked, “Why aren’t you engaged yet?” The sisters retaliated by vowing that they won’t marry for ten (maybe even twenty!) years, not until they’ve had lots of dating practice. In a shocking war on the status quo, her parents now insist that their youngest daughter, Orrawin (aka “Winnie”), must date in high school. Under their watchful eyes, of course — and on dates they organize based on their favorite rom-coms. The first candidate? The son of their longtime friends, Mat Songsomboon—arrogant, dreamy, and infuriating. Winnie’s known him since they were toddlers throwing sticky rice balls at each other. Her parents love him, so naturally he’s the perfect person for her to pretend date. If only he weren’t her sworn enemy.

quantumweirdness

The Quantum Weirdness of the Almost-Kiss by Amy Noelle Parks

Goodreads Description: Caleb has always assumed that when she was ready for romance, Evie would choose him. Because he is her best friend, and he loves her, and he has almost kissed her 17 times… Seventeen-year-old Evie Beckham has never been interested in dating. She’s been fully occupied by her love of mathematics and her frequent battles with anxiety (and besides, she’s always found the idea of kissing to be a little bit icky). But with the help of her best friend and her therapist, Evie’s feeling braver. Maybe even brave enough to enter a prestigious physics competition and to say yes to the new boy who’s been flirting with her. Caleb Covic knows Evie isn’t ready for romance but assumes that when she is, she will choose him. So Caleb is horrified when he is forced to witness Evie’s meet cute with a floppy-haired, mathematically gifted transfer student. Because Caleb knows the girl never falls for the funny best friend when there’s a mysterious stranger around, he decides to use an online forum to capture Evie’s interest. Now, he’s got Evie wondering if it’s possible to fall in love with a boy she’s never met.

All of these books sound so amazing and I am dying to get my hands on them. Have you added any new books to your TBR? Feel free to link me to your posts if you have one or leave a comment letting me know what new books you added to your TBR recently.

I finally got my new laptop, and so far I really love it! I’m excited to have it and hopefully get more into blogging again now that I have a brand new laptop. The newness of it is real, and I want to be on it all the time, haha. I am currently in Illinois right now with my mom helping my aunt get back on her feet (she was in the hospital for a month). I may not be here as much the next week or two since I am currently away, but I do have my laptop with me, so hopefully I can pop on a little bit while here. I plan to do a post about my trip to Illinois with a ton of pictures, so that will be coming at some point this month. Catch up with you soon! ❤

Wrap Up|| May.

wrapup

Hey!

Happy first day of June! It’s pretty crazy that the first half of the year is over. May was another one of those weird months for me. I feel like this entire year so far has been one weird and crazy year for me though, honestly. I was busy some of the time. I had family visit at one point. Majority of the time my mind was elsewhere. With that being said, I didn’t read as much as I hoped I would in May and that was such a bummer! I barely got four books read. I finished my fourth book just one day before the month ended. I decided to read a really short book for my fourth book, just so I could have more books read for the month.

So, what did I read this month? You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of May.

catfishingoncatnettheoutsidersfollowmebacktherapist

Catfishing on Catnet by Naomi Kritzer – 4 out of 5 stars
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton – 5 out of 5 stars
Follow Me Back by A.V. Geiger – 4 out of 5 stars
I’m a Therapist, and My Patient is Going to be the Next School Shooter by Dr. Harper – 2 out of 5 stars

Catfishing on Catnet was a lot of fun to read. I really enjoyed the characters and friendships. It kept me guessing and I can’t wait for the sequel. The Outsiders was a reread. I love this book so much, so I had to reread it again. I think this was my fourth time reading it? It’s so good and I highly recommend if you haven’t read it yet. It’s only about 200 pages, so it’s a quick read too! I wanted to read Follow Me Back for a while now and I completely forgot I even had it on my Kindle. I really liked this one and flew through it. I want to read the sequel as soon as I can, because I am curious as to what happens next. The ending was a little weird and confusing, so I guess we’ll see what happens.

First I want to say that I’m a Therapist, and My Patient is Going to be the Next School Shooter is a ridiculously long book title and that’s kind of annoying, lol. This isn’t even the full title, there’s more on Goodreads. As you can see above, I only gave it two stars. I read through it really fast (it was the short book I mentioned above) and it was interesting sometimes, but it wasn’t really what I expected it to be. At first it seemed like it was non-fiction and that was what I was looking for, but things were way too strange and when I looked it up again in the middle of reading it, I seen that it’s fiction. It was interesting and okay at times, but I didn’t love it. There’s another book in the series, but I’m not sure if I will read it or not.

What books did you read in May? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to you wrap up post, so I can check it out!

I’m not really sure what I am going to read in June, but I may try to finally dive into some of the ARCs that I have and wasn’t able to read yet. I did start The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (the new Hunger Games book), so that may be my first June read and we’ll see what happens from there.

I mentioned in my book haul post a few days ago that I got a new laptop and I was super stoked to get back into blogging again with my new laptop, well…there was a problem with Amazon and I didn’t get the laptop I ordered and had to reorder elsewhere. That was such a bummer. I ordered a brand new one, but for some reason they sent me a used damaged one even though I ordered a brand new one, UGH. I returned it and ordered one directly from Apple’s website instead, and because of that I now have to wait even longer for my new laptop. For now and sadly, I am back on my old laptop. 😦

Anyway, I think that’s all I have for this post but I’ll leave you with this picture that I took at the park a week or so ago. Andy and I decided to go walk around the park for a little while for Pokemon Go community day. It was a nice day out and I really like how this picture turned out.
