Wrap Up|| April.

wrapup

Hey!

It’s already May, what?! I meant to get this wrap up posted earlier this morning, but I got sucked into five hours of non-stop Animal Crossing and it resulted in me completely destroying part of my island. I had to step away from it, because I was getting annoyed  with myself LOL. 😛 Animal Crossing is still very much a constant in my life right now as you can see. As for reading, in April I decided to give myself low expectations and read whatever I wanted to read. I had a difficult March, so I wanted to just read whatever I was in the mood for and not be so hard on myself if I didn’t read much. I think that mindset worked well for me! I still wish I would have read more, but I don’t feel so bad about it this month and I read one book more than I did last month so that is a win!

Here is my April wrap up. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of April.

My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell – 3 out of 5 stars
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams – 3 out of 5 stars
Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab – 4 out of 5 stars
Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by Lev A.C. Rosen – 4 out of 5 stars

I liked My Dark Vanessa but I found it hard to rate due to the subject matter, which is why I gave it three stars. I also felt like I wanted more from it. Something felt like it was missing. The Bromance Book Club was pretty good and I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t blown away by it and I really didn’t like Thea all that much. Tunnel of Bones was so good and I really liked it. I am enjoying this series so much so far. It’s so fun to read! Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) was a really great book. I loved Jack and his friends and I was sad to see it end. I am glad I finally read it.

Currently Reading Books:
These are the books that I started to read in the month of April, but didn’t get a chance to finish them yet.

Working Stiff by Judy Melinek, T.J. Mitchell

I was hoping to finish Working Stiff by the end of April, but that didn’t happen for me. That’s okay though because I plan to continue it in May. It’s only around 270 pages, so it’s pretty short. I bought this book FOUR YEARS AGO and I am now finally getting around to reading it, lol. So far it’s pretty interesting.

What books did you read in April? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to you wrap up post, so I can check it out!

In May I really need to start catching up on some ARCs. I got behind on a few of them and I want to try to stay caught up for May/June/July releases. I’ve been trying to stay away from getting e-books from my library, so I can read more of my own books. That will still be my plan for May. I should be able to read more of my own books and the ARCs that I have if I stay clear of the library, haha. 😛

  1. We got Animal Crossing a week ago. My 12 year old played it a couple of times, but I’ve stayed away. I don’t want to get sucked in!
I get what you mean about Thea. If it wasn’t for Gavin, I don’t know if I would have loved it. I was really surprised by how much I loved the second book because I did not like Liv. I ended up really liking her in that second book.

    • You will most likely get sucked into Animal Crossing if you play, haha! Since March 20th, I’ve put in almost 300 hours of game play LOL. I didn’t like Liv either, so it makes me nervous about reading the second book. Good to know you ended up liking her in the second book though. Gives me hope, haha.

  2. My Dark Vanessa is very hyped right now. I think it’s a love or hate kind of book based on the reviews and commments that I have seen so far.

  3. You made the right decision! Reading is supposed to be fun and I feel that we (bloggers) often forget about that and treat it almost like a second job.

I also read «Tunnel of Bones» last month and loved it. Need to get my hands on book 3 soon. 🙂

I hope May will be an even better month for you! ❤

    • Agreed! Reading should be fun and sometimes we do forget that, especially if we have ARCs that we requested to read. I’m glad I made the decision to read what I wanted and to put less pressure on myself if I didn’t read a ton. That was nice and much needed! 🙂

I’m happy that you loved Tunnel of Bones! I can’t wait to get my hands on book three too! Thank you! ❤

  4. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed Tunnel Of Bones! And definitely don’t stress about reading more or less; if you prefer animal crossing or other things, animal crossing it is! 😉 I’ve been staying away myself, mostly because I know I’d only get addicted to it haha. I hope May will treat you well! xx

  5. I got Animal Crossing last week and I have been very unproductive since then haha. The Bromance Book Club is still on my TBR, can’t wait to read that one. Hopefully it lives up to the expectations and hype!
Hope you have a good May! 🙂
