Hey!
I can’t believe 2019 is over! Honestly though, I am kind of excited that it is. While I had a pretty good year for the most part, toward the end of the year it was hard for me. I got really depressed and I’ve been feeling so unhappy with myself. I am ready for a new year. Anyway, here is my last wrap up of 2019! You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.
Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of December.
Any Boy But You by Julie Hammerle – 4 out of 5 stars
For Everyone by Jason Reynolds – 3 out of 5 stars
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York by Kim Smith – 5 out of 5 stars
My Boyfriend is a Bear by Pamela Ribon, Cat Farris – 4 out of 5 stars
The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand – 5 out of 5 stars
The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black – 4 out of 5 stars
I am so happy that I was able to read six books in December and complete my Goodreads challenge. I really enjoyed all of the books that I read this month as you can see by their star rating. 😛 I was most nervous about reading The Queen of Nothing, because I really didn’t enjoy The Wicked King that much. BUT The Queen of Nothing ended up being so much better than the sequel was. I still didn’t love the ending though. I felt like more could have happened. It felt a little rushed to me. The other books that I read were really great and I was surprised how much I ended up loving The Afterlife of Holly Chase! My Boyfriend is a Bear was cute, but also so weird.
Audiobooks:
These are the books that I listened to the audio versions throughout the month of December.
Puddin’ by Julie Murphy – 4 out of 5 stars
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare – 4 out of 5 stars
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – 5 out of 5 stars
I finally read Puddin’ and I am so happy that I did. I really had fun listening to the audiobook. I was so on the fence about ever reading shadowhunter stuff again, because I had a love/hate for The Mortal Instruments. I loved the first four books of the series, but the others were so boring and hard to get through. BUT I listened to the audiobooks of Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows and I actually REALLY enjoyed them. I even loved Lord of Shadows. I am definitely excited to listen to the third audiobook at some point (maybe this month).
Currently Reading:
These are the books that I started in the month of December, but didn’t have the chance to finish before the month ended.
Husband Material by Emily Belden
I am about 40% through Husband Material. I am liking it, but it is also kind of hard to get really into it. I ended up putting it to the side for a little bit so I could read The Queen of Nothing. I will continue it in January and have my review up as soon as I am finished with it. It was just released on December 31st.
What books did you read in December? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to you wrap up post, so I can check it out!
I have a lot of posts coming up over the next couple weeks with all the books that I read throughout the year. There will be a post for five star reads, four star reads, etc. I also really hope to get my 2019 reading stats, 2020 reading goals, and 2020 personal goals posted soon too. So many blog posts to come! 🙂 I am currently visiting my family (they live four hours away from me), so I don’t know if I’ll be around the blogoshere very much the rest of this week. My mom let me use her laptop so I could at least get my wrap up posted.
In case you missed it;

I hope you have a great first day of the new year!
I couldn’t get through Queen of Air and Darkness because I kinda loss my love for the series. I want to reread the first two books so I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the audiobooks. I’ll definitely give them a shot!
Such a bummer that you couldn’t get through Queen of Air and Darkness. Hopefully to read it at some point this year. Hopefully I end up liking it. Maybe checking out the audiobooks will make it easier. I really enjoyed the audiobook versions. I don’t think I would have been able to read them on my own, honestly. Plus the narrators for the audiobooks was so good.
I’m glad you had a good month and hope it continues for the rest of 2020.
Thank you 🙂
You’re welcome!

New Year is a great time to “start fresh”, although I believe that every day is a fresh start, especially Mondays 😀 that’s why I love them so much.
I hope 2020 will be a great year for you and you will find even more support and love from this community. ❤
Thank you and you’re right, every day is like a fresh start. Sometimes it’s hard looking at it that way. ❤
Happy New Year Ashley ❤ I'm sorry things weren't great for you at the end of last year, I definitely feel you on that one especially feeling not very happy with yourself. I have no doubt though that you are doing a great job at all of the things and I hope your brain can be kind to you!
Thank you, Avery. ❤ I hope we both have a great start and end to this new year. It's so exhausting feeling so down, especially when you're not feeling happy with yourself.
It looks like you had a great December. How was Puddin? I still want to read that one. Was the audio good?
I really enjoyed Puddin’. I listened to the audiobook and I really liked it.
Good to know! I keep forgetting to request it. Going to do that now!

So glad you enjoyed The Queen of Nothing, but it’s so funny because I actually enjoyed the second book more, haha. I hope you’re 2020 is so good for you reading wise and real life wise!
I felt like there was so much missing in the second book, but that’s great that you liked it even more. Overall I am happy with the series and how it ended. Thank you 🙂
