Regretting You by Colleen Hoover
4 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Description: Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike. Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body. With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara. While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.

I received an ARC of Regretting You from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. It will be published on December 10th.

I really enjoy reading Colleen Hoover’s books, so I was excited when I was approved for Regretting You on Netgalley. I don’t want to go into a huge elaborate review, because I don’t want to risk spoiling anything. I always find it better to go into Colleen Hoover’s books with as little knowledge as possible. I really liked the story and Colleen did not disappoint. She always has a way of sucking you in and making it so hard to put down her books and that’s exactly what happened with this one. There were so many feels and emotions experienced throughout the story by both the characters and myself. I really connected with them and I was so sad for them. It was a really heartbreaking story, but it had quite a few happy moments as well. There were a couple things that prevented me from giving it five stars though. It’s hard to explain without spoiling it, but I just felt like something was missing. I wanted to know more about what exactly happened, like when, how, why, but that wasn’t really explored or explained much. I felt unsatisfied with that. Overall though, I really enjoyed Regretting You and would highly recommend checking it out.

I still need to blog hop and catch up with guys! Soon, I promise. I’ve seriously been doing so bad mentally over the last couple weeks and it’s been making it so hard to want to sit in front of my computer aside from having to for work. I wrote a little post about it last week, which I’ll link below. I feel like it’s just gotten so much worse, sigh. I have a four day weekend this week though, so hopefully I’ll be able to find some time. We’ll be leaving tomorrow or Thursday morning to go have Thanksgiving with my family and I am really looking forward to that. I feel like I need a break from my routine life so badly, so maybe this little visit will help me. November book haul and wrap up coming soon.

Random|| Life & Reading Update.

lifeupdate

Hey!

It’s been almost two weeks since my last update. I’ve been in a blogging slump, honestly. I’ve also been stuck in my head a little bit. So I’ve been trying to distract myself with reading, TV, games on my iPad, or recently the new Pokémon Sword game on Nintendo Switch. This year has been so weird for me and it’s kind of hard to explain. I guess maybe because there has been so many changes this year. A big one having moved four hours away from my family and not seeing them every single day.

I also feel like my anxiety has gotten so much worse too, which really sucks. I can’t really even tell people about it, because then I just get told I’m making a big deal or I need to “grow up” and to “stop being scared of the world”. 🙄 If it was that easy, then I would have stopped being this way a long time ago. It’s hard and it sucks. I feel lost and not very supported in my real life (outside of the blogging world). Dealing with things on your own is hard sometimes. Not having someone to talk to is hard sometimes. That’s why I get stuck in my head sometimes.

I don’t know if any of this made sense and I’m sorry if it didn’t. This has just been a really weird year for me and most of the time I just can’t put it into words. A lot of great things happened too, but I think my mental health took a hit this year. I’ve never experienced most of these feelings before or if I have, never as bad. It’s new and has been an adjustment, I guess. So I that’s why I’ve been distant around here and also in my real life. It’s been all about distracting myself this year, because if I don’t then I just constantly think about everything that bothers me and it makes me sad.

I decorated my house for Christmas, which I love. Here’s a couple pictures of the outside. Just did a couple touches of Christmas outside. I think we might put up some Christmas lights on our house. I really want to go all out Clark Griswold style, but I doubt that happens LOL. We also put up the Christmas tree too. I haven’t been able to take a good picture of it yet.

And here is a quick little reading update of what I read recently and what I may read next.

autoboyunhoneymooners

I recently finished reading Autoboyography and The Unhoneymooners both by Christina Lauren. By the way, I just realized that Christina Lauren is TWO PEOPLE! Anyway, I really enjoyed both of these books so much. I need to read more from Christina Lauren.

regrettingyouqueenofnothing

I think in my last reading update I said I was going to read Regretting You next, but I ended up reading The Unhoneymooners instead since it was a library book that was going to be returned soon. SOOO, I may be picking up Regretting You today. I am supposed to be getting my copy of The Queen of Nothing (I got the black Barnes & Noble edition) today or tomorrow, so I may also be picking that one up soon too. I’m actually scared to read The Queen of Nothing, because I really thought The Wicked King wasn’t that great. I guess we’ll see what happens!

Well, that’s all for this post. I just wanted to give a quick update on why I haven’t been around too much. I try to hop on to catch up with you guys at least once a week, so I will at some point this week. 🙂

The Wives by Tarryn Fisher
4 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Description: Imagine that your husband has two other wives. You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives. You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever. Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you go to find the truth? Would you risk your own life? And who is his mysterious third wife?

I received an ARC of The Wives from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. It will be published on December 30th.

I’m still sort of new to Tarryn Fisher’s books as The Wives was only my third book of hers that I read. Of what I read of hers, she’s so good at writing some pretty twisted books. I was so excited to read The Wives and honestly, it did not disappoint! I knew it was going to be pretty crazy just by the book description and as I continued through the story, it got weirder and crazier as I turned the pages. I flew through the book in a little over a day. I couldn’t put it down! I did think that the beginning was a lot better than the second half, but I still really enjoyed. There were quite a few things I didn’t see coming and I was definitely left shook at times. I decided to go the mini review route for this one, because I don’t want to give away a lot or risk spoilers. This is one of those books that it’s best to go into it not really having too much information. I had so much fun reading The Wives and I can’t wait to pick up Tarryn’s other books.

What do you think you’ll read next?

*All books linked to Goodreads below.

Hey!

I am going to just jump right into my WWW Wednesday post for today. This is what I’ve been reading this past week and what I will hopefully be reading next.

Currently Reading:

franklyinlovethelibrarian

Frankly in Love by David Yoon
The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe

I started Frankly in Love a couple days ago and I’m about 35% into it. So far I am really enjoying it. There has been quite a few laugh out loud moments so far and I am excited to see what happens. I am starting to audiobook today The Librarian of Auschwitz. I’ve been wanting to read it for awhile now, so I am excited to finally be starting it today.

Recently Finished:

overthetop

Over the Top by Jonathan Van Ness

I flew through Over the Top in pretty much a day and a half. It was so hard to put down. I love the Queer Eye guys (show) and it was so great getting a closer look into Jonathan Van Ness’ life. He’s such an amazing person and went through so many things in his life. I am really glad he’s the person he is today even through all the horrible things he went through and had struggled with throughout his life.

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

I am so stoked to read Regretting You next. I am a big Colleen Hoover fan, so I can’t wait to dive into this one and get my review up right after.

What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? Have you read any of these books? Feel free to link me to your posts, so I can check them out!

In my previous entry I mentioned going to my friend’s Halloween party, it ended up being a lot of fun. I dressed up as a ghost, but it was a super simple costume. I just wore a poncho that had a ghost face on it, lol. I liked it though. I haven’t done a picture update in awhile and I really want to do one. I think I may do one at the end of the month with all my best pictures/moments from the rest of the year since my last update. So hopefully that post will be coming at some point in December. Maybe I can finally figure something out for next year with my blog and the lack of photo space I have now. That’s what’s been preventing me from doing anymore of my picture updates. I’m at 87% photo storage used, ughh.
