Halloweenie TBR.

BOOOOOO!

Happy October! It’s my favorite month of the year! I love all things Halloween, Fall, and Spooky. So much that I named one of my cats October. ๐Ÿ˜› Here she is:

When I found her I knew that had to be her name, because she makes me think of Halloween with her orange and black coloring. She also has some pretty amazing green eyes and they definitely give off a spooky vibe.

Anyway, I always make this big Halloween themed TBR every year whether I get around to reading them or not; it’s fun to create them! I think last year I read 5 out of the 10 books that I chose, because I had some ARCs that I had to read at the time so I had to share some of my time with them as well. ๐Ÿ˜› I do have some ARCs I need to read, but luckily a couple of them fit into my Halloweenie TBR. I don’t know if I will get to all or most of these books, but here is what my TBR looks like this year!

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell
Inspection by Josh Malerman
Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky (ARC)
Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland (ARC)
Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker

These first six books are books that I definitely want to try to read in October. Two of them are ARCs and I’m excited that they fit into the Halloween/spooky vibe for my TBR. I am currently reading Imaginary Friend now. I wanted to get a head start on it by picking it up at the end of September, because it’s 700+ pages and I wanted to make sure I read it so I can do my review and also have plenty of time to try to fit in these other books throughout the month. I’m halfway through it now and it’s so good! The author of Inspection wrote Bird Box, so I am stoked to read his new book. I’ve been seeing Mooncakes around and it looked perfect for the season, it doesn’t get released until later this month but I have my copy on pre-order. Super stoked for Pumpkinheads!

The Suffering by Rin Chupeco
The Outcast Hours by Mahvesh Murad +more
We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand
The Asylum Novellas by Madeleine Roux
Escape from Asylum by Madeleine Roux

These six books are books that I hope to read if I have time after reading the others. I am really excited about finally reading the Asylum novellas (if I get to them). I read the main books in the series and really liked them, but just never read the novella books for some reason. I read Girl from the Well last year (I think or could be year before) and really enjoyed it, so hopefully I will finally pick up the sequel! The others sound perfect for this month as well.

It would be amazing if I got through all twelve books, but we shall see because there are a few Halloween movies that I love to watch in October as well. I need to share my time between spooky reads and my favorite Halloween movies. So what are the movies, you say?

Halloweentown
Hocus Pocus
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Beetlejuice

I make it a point to watch these four movies every single October. I don’t think there has been a year where I have missed watching any of them since I was a kid! I am so excited to watch them all again this year. ๐Ÿ˜›

Have you read any of the books on my October TBR? What do you plan to read in October? Do you have any favorite Halloween/spooky movies that you liked to watch during October? Let me know and feel free to link me to your TBR posts if you have one!

I went through some of your posts yesterday and hope to read & comment more of them in the next day or two. I will also reply to comments soon too. September was a crazy month, but hopefully October will be a lot better. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you โค I am obsessed with her, haha. I hope you get the chance to read Imaginary Friend. I'm a little over halfway through it and it's so weird and creepy, but so good. That sucks that you ended up DNF Sawkill Girls. I've seen that so many people loved it and it kind of makes me nervous, to be honest because most of the time I never love hyped books as much as everyone else. Fingers crossed that it's for me!

  1. I love this post!! and I love your cat. She’s SO pretty. I hope you get to read as many spooky reads as possible this month. I always watch Hocus Pocus and Halloween. Traditions! I usually make a similar post, but I’ve been such a moody reader these days. Maybe making a Halloween TBR will help!

    • Thanks, Brandie! I am so obsessed with October. I can’t get over how pretty she is, haha. Halloween is such a great movie! I need to watch that one too. Hocus Pocus is such a classic, I have to watch it every year. Maybe making a Halloween TBR might help. I like making them even if I don’t read the books on the list or read very many. I still have fun making the list and it puts me even more in the Halloween/spooky spirit.

  2. Hi, October!! (she is so cute!!!! and that colouring on her little furry face is โค )

Uh Uh!! I'm very excited about Imaginary Friend! There aren't actually that many new releases that I'm eager to get to asap, but the new Stephen Chbosky book is definitely one of the most anticipated.

I hope you'll read them all and have a very spooky October (only when it comes to reading!) ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I am so obsessed with October, haha. I am so glad I found her and decided to keep her. โค I hope you get the chance to read Imaginary Friend ASAP! I am a little over halfway through it and it's so weird and creepy, but it's so good too! I am dying to see what happens. I just have no clue, haha. I'm trying to come up with reasonable scenarios or ideas about what is going on, but I just can't LOL. Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • The size of Stephen Chbosky’s new book is definitely scary, haha. I’m glad I’m reading it as a Netgalley ARC, because I think if I had to actually hold it in my heads I would freak out even more. It’s so good though! I hope you get the chance to read it soon. Agreed, Beetlejuice is definitely a great movie.

  3. I LOVE your cat’s name and he looks so spooky with his colors, I love that.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I hope you have a great month and enjoy all your readingsโค๏ธ I read City of Ghosts a while ago and I enjoyed it, so I hope you do as well!! and OMG, if you read Sawkill Girls, you must tell me what you think about it!, I’ve been wanting to read it for a while now ๐Ÿ˜„

  6. Ooh what a great list of spooky books! I will have to look into a few of these. I’m currently reading “The Graveyard Book” by Neil Gaiman. It’s pretty good! Not creepy or scary, but a fun read.
Also loveee your cat October. It really is the perfect name for her! She’s gorgeous!
