Hey!
June hasn’t been the best month for me in both my personal life and with blogging/reading. I won’t go into too much detail about that, but I did do a post about it a week or so ago that you can check out if you’re interested in knowing what’s been going on with me and why I haven’t been having the greatest time, I’ll link my post at the end of this one. My reading kind of drastically slipped this month, which is pretty sad! I’ve been in this really bad reading slump, so I was only able to finish three books this month and still in the process of finishing another. With this reading slump I’ve been watching more TV and listening to more podcasts. I’ll talk about TV shows/podcasts first and then jump into the books that I read this month.
The husband and I started to watch The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu, which is so good! We’ve been flying through episodes and already halfway through season two. We’ve also been watching this show called Baskets on Hulu too, which is hilarious but also sad. We also started to watch the new AMC show NOS4A2, which is really good! I know it’s based off a book, but we just dived into the show instead of reading the book. I watched the entire season one of Jailbirds and Girls Incarcerated on Netflix in a single day each. I also watched season two of Girls incarcerated. The husband and I together also watched the new season of Black Mirror, which was underwhelming compared to past seasons.
I also managed to completely clear out my DVR of shows I’ve been recording for months and never watched. I’ve also been watching other shows that are on regular TV like 90 Day Fiance, Masterchef, and America’s Got Talent. The new season of Big Brother just started, so there’s that too. So while I haven’t been reading, I’ve been watching A LOT of things. Instead of audiobooks, I’ve been listening to podcasts this month. As far as podcasts go, I just finished listening to The Shrink Next Door (6 episodes & an update) which was CRAZY!! I am now listening to Dr. Death, which is also pretty insane. I have about two more episodes of that to listen to and then I can move onto the next podcast, which I have no clue what that will be yet.
Anyway, now onto books! Here are the books that I read this month. I know I’m posting this a little early, but I don’t see myself finishing my current read before the month ends, sadly. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.
Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of June.
Virtually Yours by Sarvenaz Tash – 3 out of 5 stars – Review
I received Virtually Yours from the publisher via Netgalley. It was a cute, fun, and quick read. It didn’t blow me away, but I still liked it. It was interesting and worth the read.
Naturally Tan by Tan France – 4 out of 5 stars
I am a big fan of Queer Eye on Netflix. I love those boys! So of course I want to read their books and started with Tan France’s book Naturally Tan. I loved his story and I really enjoyed his book a lot. So many laugh out loud and cute moments and some serious ones as well. I am so excited for the new season of Queer Eye in July!
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – 5 out of 5 stars
Red, White & Royal Blue is so hyped and I was actually really terrified going into reading this, because you all know how majority of the time I end up not loving hyped books. HAPPY to say that I really loved this one. It was cute, it was fun, it was hilarious, and it was also sad. I loved the characters so much and I really need a sequel to see what everyone is up to now, haha.
Currently Reading Books:
These are the books that I started to read in the month of June, but didn’t get a chance to finish them yet.
Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
I was hoping to read Soul of the Sword in June, because while I do now own a physical copy, I was also sent a copy from the publisher via Netgalley for review. Life happened though, so sadly I didn’t get to finish it before the month ends/release day. But to be honest, it was approved like a week before release date; so that made it a little difficult. If by some miracle I actually do finish it before the actual end of June, then that would be great though. I will be doing a review of this as soon as I finish it. So far I am really enjoying it and happy to be back in this world with these characters.
What books did you read in June? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to you wrap up post, so I can check it out!
I’m thinking of posting my June book haul either tomorrow or Monday. It’s mostly done, I just need to take some pictures for it. I usually post my haul before the wrap up, but no pictures yet and maybe I’ll get another book before June 30th? Who knows. 😛

I hope you have a great day!
So glad that you enjoyed Naturally Tan. His personality really shines through!
I listened to the first couple episodes of the Shrink Next Door and wow… What a story! Dr. Death mad me so mad. It’s unbelievable what he was able to get away with. Can’t wait for your final thoughts on it!
I agree! Tan’s personality defintely shines in his book. I hope you get the chance to finish the Shrink Next door. It was such a crazy story. Dr. Death made me so mad too. I can’t believe they let him get away with so much. It was horrible! Such a sad story for all the victims.
Three books in one month is still great! Especially considering the reading slump.
My reading slump lasted pretty much all 2018 😀 and there was a month when I haven’t read a single book, which kinda freaked me out a little bit. Lol
I love that you watched so many shows this month. I’m always saying “I want to watch this” and “I want to watch that”, but then can’t really find time or energy to commit to a new series. We (me and my bf) have been watching the new season of The 100, which is GREAT as usual. And I also want to try and persuade him to watch Big Little Lies with me, wish me luck on that. Ahah
Hopefully, July will be a better reading month for you! 🙂
I’m glad I was able to at least read a few books even with battling a reading slump. It’s better than none at all. I think I would be freaked out a little bit if I went an entire month without at least finishing one book, haha. It’s happened to me before I started blogging. I think I went six months without reading a single book.
I am also one of those people that say “I want to watch this” and never do. Pretty much my entire Netflix and Hulu list are shows that I’ve been wanting to watch and never do HAHA. I love adding shows to my list, but then when it gets time to watch them I’m like “ehh, maybe another time”. I’m glad I was finally able to start watching some of them. My husband loves the 100 series. I have never watched it, but he really likes it. My mom and my younger sister love it too. I should probably give it a chance. Good luck with Big Little Lies! I’ve been really wanting to watch that.
Thank you 🙂
Before I started blogging I didn’t read for over 5 years! I read tons of Uni books but just for the sake of reading. It sounds crazy to me now, but back then I didn’t even realize that reading wasn’t a part of my life. (so weird… lol) 😀
Also, you definitely should give the 100 a try! I’m sure your husband will be happy to start watching it with you again (I know I’d love to watch it from the beginning).
Yeah, the only time I ever read before was usually just for school and while I did love a lot of the books that I read for school, I just never felt like reading on my own time or when it wasn’t forced haha. I’m glad I am now, because there’s so many amazing stories!!
i keep needing recommendations for netflix shows and so thank you for the recs, im excited to add them to my list :’)
FOREVER exuberant to see RWARB been given the love & appreciation it deserves b/c i shall settle for nothing less
hope you get out of the slump soon! until then, netflix is always there for you xD
I hope you enjoy all of these Netflix shows if you get the chance to watch them! 🙂 My Netflix is forever long, so it was nice to finally start watching some of them haha. RWARB was such an amazing book. I still think about it. Thanks! 🙂

I’m so sorry this month hasn’t been the best. Sending so much love to you, Ashley ❤
The Handmaids Tale is really well done & thought provoking!
I haven’t been as excited about Black Mirror as I was the first couple seasons either. Then again, I only watched the Ashley O episode.. so maybe I need to watch the others before making a judgement. I do find it fascinating the parallel of Hannah Montana that they make though.
So many other good recs here!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Mackenzie! ❤
I totally agree about The Handmaid's Tale! I'm so glad we finally decided to watch it. I personally didn't think the other episodes in the new season of Black Mirror were as amazing as the others were. But maybe you'll feel differently!
I will definitely have to let you know- ya know, I am gonna start one right now. I cannot do another minute of school work haha.
You are such an impressive reader! Even with your reading slump, you’ve still read three more books than me. I’m a slow reader even though I love reading, and with our move, I haven’t had the time/energy to pick up a book for awhile! I need to get back into it.
Also, I’ve heard so much about The Handmaids Tale! I think it’s high-time I watched it too. 😉
At times I can be a slow reader too. Like when I see people reading 10-20 books a month I’m like “HOW!?” haha. Even on my best months I can only read MAYBE 6-8 books unless they are graphic novels. Hopefully now that you are moved you can get back into reading. You should for sure check out The Handmaid’s Tale.
