Wrap Up|| May.

wrapup

Hey!

I am pretty happy with how May went as far as reading goes, because I was able to get through quite a few ARCs that I needed to read and I enjoyed them all. I was also able to get reviews up for them too. There are still two ARCs that I wasn’t able to get to, but that’s okay. I’ll get to them soon. I even read a book toward my Reading the Alphabet challenge that I have been doing so horribly with this year, lol. I was also able to listen to a few audiobooks as well. Here are the books that I read and listened to in May. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of May.

Shout by Laurie Halse Anderson – 4 out of 5 stars.
Shout was such a great book. I loved the poetry and I loved reading about Laure Halse’s life and the way that she told it. It’s a really emotional and deals with so many tough situations.

Happy Messy Scary Love by Leah Konen – 5 out of 5 stars – Review
Happy Messy Scary Love was such an amazing book. I loved it so much and flew through it in a day. It was so hard to put down. I had so much fun reading it. Feel free to check out my review for more.

Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo – 4 out of 5 stars – Review
I liked Somewhere Only We Know so much! It was a lot of fun to read and it was so cute. I am really looking forward to checking out more books by Maurene Goo. Feel free to check out my review for more.

We Contain Multitudes by Sarah Henstra – 5 out of 5 stars –  Review
My love for We Contain Multitudes is never ending. This book was an emotional roller coaster. It was so sad, but so beautiful. It was everything I hoped it would be. Feel free to check out my review for more.

Going Off Script by Jen Wilde – 4 out of 5 stars – Review
I really liked Going Off Script. It was cute and fun to read. It also dealt with a lot of important things and so much diversity. Feel free to check out my review for more.

Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon – 5 out of 5 stars – ABC
Olivia Twist is an Oliver Twist retelling and I’ve been wanting to read it for so long now. It’s part of my Reading the Alphabet TBR. I had so much fun reading this. It was so good and I loved it so much.

Audiobooks:
These are the books that I listened to the audio versions throughout the month of May.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – 3 out of 5 stars
I liked The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but sadly I didn’t end up loving it as much as I hoped I would. I think my expectations were set so high because how amazing Taylor’s book Daisy Jones & the Six was. I’m still glad I read this one though and I still found it enjoyable at times.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – 3 out of 5 stars
I finally read Children of Blood and Bone, but I honestly don’t understand all the hype. It was good and there were some surprises, but it didn’t blow me away. I liked it though and I am still interested in reading the sequel one day.

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine – 4 out of 5 stars
Holy crap…The Last Mrs. Parrish was so crazy! It was also so addicting and I am really glad that I listened to the audiobook version of it.Some things were a little predictable, but it didn’t take away from the story for me. I still really liked it a lot and had fun listening to it.

Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan – 3 out of 5 stars
I honestly may have to reread Wicked Saints myself, because the majority of the time I had no idea what was happening. I think that’s more because I was listening to the audiobook in the background with my computer speakers while I was doing work (I usually listen with headphones so I can focus better but I didn’t this time). Because of that, my mind kept wandering. I don’t really remember too much of it either (especially the first half of the book), so I may give this one a reread at some point because it seems interesting and the last 40% was good.

What books did you read in May? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to you wrap up post, so I can check it out!

I will catch up with all of your posts and comments as soon as I get some free time in the next day or two. 🙂 I hope you had a great weekend!

  1. You read so many books this past month, Ashley! yay! I’m so happy you liked Going Off Script, I loved that one a whole lot. I’m a little sad you were disappointed by Evelyn Hugo, but… you make me all the more eager to get my hands on a copy of Daisy Jones now haha, it sounds amazing, too! 🙂
    Have a lovely month! ❤

    • I am so excited that I was able to read so many books! I felt like I was really flying through some of them. Yeah, it is sad about Evelyn Hugo. I can’t wait for you to read Daisy Jones though! I hope you get the chance to read it soon. It’s so amazing. ❤ 🙂

  2. I’m really curious about Wicked Saints. I have the book, but every once in a while I come across less than stellar reviews of it. Curious to see what I ultimately think of it. I’m so excited about Somewhere Only We Know. I am determined to read it this summer. Hope you enjoy your June!

    • I hope you enjoy Wicked Saints when you get the chance to read it. I don’t know if it’s because I listened to the audiobook and my mind was just elsewhere at the time or if I was bored from it, so that’s why my mind was elsewhere LOL. But the last half of the book was pretty good at least. I hope you get the chance to read Somewhere Only We Know soon. It was so good! I hope you enjoy your June as well. 🙂

  3. You read so many wonderful books this month, that’s lovely! I’m so excited to read Somewhere Only We Know and Going Off Script, they both sound like such fun, amazing reads! And wow, I think you’re the first person I’ve seen who also rated Evelyn Hugo 3 stars. I’m team Daisy Jones too ❤️ And I adore Taylor Jenkins Reid’s older books! I hope you have a lovely month 😊

  4. Thanks for your reviews! I like how you rate the books out of 5 by the way- it really helps give perspective to the best of the best & which to avoid. Hope you are having a great week, Ashley!
