Hey!
It’s almost the end of April already, how?? Today I am just going to jump right into my April book haul. You can check out a full list of the books that I own over here. There’s links to different pages on my blog that show my e-books and one for my physical books. I finally updated all lists earlier in April. All book titles below are linked to Goodreads.
Books I Bought:
*from bookstores, amazon, etc.*

Solitaire by Alice Oseman
Heartstopper Vol 1 by Alice Oseman
Internment by Samira Ahmed
Jack of Hearts (and other parts) by L.C. Rosen
I’ve been really wanting to read Heartstopper, so I finally decided to order it on Book Depository. I ordered it in March, but it finally got to me earlier in April. I decided to hop on Amazon and order Solitaire, because at the end of Heartstopper the author mentions that the two characters in the book are also in Solitaire, so I had to have it. I am impatiently waiting for volume two. I got a UK version of Solitaire, because I liked that the color of it matched more with Heartstopper. The only downside is the size difference between the two. I couldn’t help buying Internment when I see it was only $8 on Amazon. I’ve been really wanting to read it, so I’m stoked! I decided to order Jack of Hearts, because it sounded so good and something I’d be into and I will hopefully be reading it really soon.
Books from Publishers:
Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
The publisher reached out to me asking if I wanted to review Girls with Sharp Sticks, because they had seen that I added it to my Goodreads shelf, so I said yes! I was surprised when I received a finished copy. You can check out my review for this book over here. I gave it five stars.
E-Books:
The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms
Like Never and Always by Ann Aguirre
Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore
The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia
Geekerella by Ashley Poston
Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi
A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi
The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
I have a private wishlist on Amazon of all the books that I want, but are waiting for them to go on sale. I check it every day to see if any go on sale and quite a few of them went on sale this month, which was exciting. I got The Overdue Life of Amy Byler free with Amazon Prime First Reads. I also got The Murmur of Bees for free. I see Geekerella all the time on Amazon when I browse their books/e-books, but I just never decided to buy it. I decided to look it up on Goodreads and there’s a ton of great reviews about it, so I decided to finally buy it since it was only $1.99. I already own a physical copy of Aru Shah, but I couldn’t help buying an e-book version since it was only 99 cents. I seen The Library at Mount Char floating around a little after I started blogging and never got it. The e-book was on sale, so I decided to get it. It’ll be perfect to read about Halloween time later this year.
Random thought: Does anyone else buy a ton of e-books when they are on sale and then never read them? I feel like I do that way too much and my Kindle is full of books that I REALLY want to read, but just never do. I always end up checking out e-books from my library instead, UGHHHHH. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to this year, but maybe next year I will work on trying to get through a lot of my Kindle e-books, especially the older ones!
What books did you get in April? Have you read any of the books that I got? Feel free to link me to your book haul posts, so I can check them out.
I’ll have my April wrap up posted tomorrow or Wednesday. It’s mostly completed, but waiting to finish one of the current books I am reading so I can include it in my wrap up post. I should have it finished today, because I only have like 50 pages left in it.
In case you missed it;
Nature, Dinosaurs, & Other Things.
It finally happened!!
Friday Finds #79.
I hope you have a great day!
Great review!
Thanks!
AHHH HEARTSTOPPER and Solitaire! I’m so excited for you to read Solitaire, I really, really, really enjoyed it ❤ ❤
I am so happy to see that you enjoyed Solitaire! I am really hoping that I can fit it in this month. I can’t wait to read it. ❤
It looks like you got a great haul!
I’m so excited for all the books that I got!
Lovely post, Ashley! I buy random e-books on Amazon sales ALL THE TIME, but never read them! It’s an unhealthy habit. Those covers for Heartstopper and Solitaire are SO beautiful! ❤
Thanks, Kelly! Buying e-books on sale and never reading them is definitely an unhealthy habit, sigh. It’s so hard to resist a book being $1.99 when it’s normally $10 haha. I am obsessed with the covers for Heartstopper and Solitaire! I had to go with the UK edition of Solitaire, because it matched so well with Heartsopper. ❤
I often buy too many physical books and don’t read them, but ebooks – never. I dislike them and won’t read them. I didn’t get through all the books I received from April, but I did catch up on reading older titles while searching for two books that inspire travel for my second book blog. I really liked Katherine Center’s How to Walk Away.
I also buy too many physical books and never read them too. I just buy all books and never read them. I usually end up checking out books from the library that I don’t own, but want to read. LOL. Such a bad habit. That’s great that you were able to at least catch up on reading older titles. I really need to start reading more of the older books I have on my shelves. I’ll have to look up How to Walk Away, thanks!
Ooooh nice book haul. Also I love the beautiful pictures you took with those adorable plant friends.
thanks, avery! i’m trying to get back into bookstagram, so i’ve been using this simple theme with the little plants.
I have got to read Girls with Sharp Sticks!!
Yes! You should definitely read Girls with Sharp Sticks. I bet you’ll really like it.
I have so many books on my Kobo that I’ve gotten for free thanks to BookBub, lol. I’ve honestly only read a few, but they are free so I keep getting them. I keep telling myself I will read them someday, lol! But I also keep checking out library books instead. 😉
When I first found out about BookBub years ago I literally filled my Kindle up with so many free books haha. I tried to chill out from doing that though. I went through my Kindle to delete books that I plan to never read and majority of the deleted ones were the free ones. The library is dangerous LOL! 😛
I love Wild Beauty so much. I hope you enjoy that one. I also bought Internment, but haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet Hope you enjoy all these!
Happy to hear that you loved Wild Beauty. I can’t wait to read it. I hope we both enjoy Internment. 🙂
