Friday Finds #78.

fridayfinds

These are books that I have added to my Goodreads TBR shelves. I don’t own them (YET), but they are books that I really want to read one day!

Hey!

This week I finally got a library card at one of the library branches in my new city this! Most libraries I have been to and that I’ve gotten library cards at in the past usually have just one standard design, which sometimes can be a little boring. 😛 BUT this library had a bunch of different options to choose from…so which one did I go with? (If you follow me on Instagram you probably know already, haha.)

I had to go with the unicorn one! It was calling to me, haha. Plus my favorite color is pink, so I was really drawn to it. I love that you can pick from a bunch of different ones. I thought that was really neat. My second choice was  dragon. The librarian said that the unicorn was very popular. Look at that library sign! I love the stack of books on the side. I browsed the library hoping to find something. Sadly I didn’t, BUT I did add a bunch of books to my Goodreads TBR, because that’s just what you do when you love books so much. You want to read everything. I’ve included the book descriptions below and linked them to Goodreads. You can see more of my TBR over on my Goodreads account over here and feel free to add me as a friend!

As Many Nows as I Can Get by Shan Youngdahl

Goodreads Description: In one impulsive moment the summer before they leave for college, overachievers Scarlett and David plunge into an irresistible swirl of romance, particle physics, and questionable decisions. Told in non-linear, vivid first-person chapters, As Many Nows As I Can Get is the story of a grounded girl who’s pulled into a lightning-strike romance with an electric-charged boy, and the enormity of the aftermath. Cerebral, accessible, bold, and unconventionally romantic, this is a powerful debut about grief, guilt, and reconciling who you think you need to be with the person you’ve been all along.

girlgoneviral

Girl Gone Viral by Arvin Ahmadi

Goodreads Description: For seventeen-year-old Opal Hopper, code is magic. She builds entire worlds from scratch: Mars craters, shimmering lakes, any virtual experience her heart desires. But she can’t code her dad back into her life. When he disappeared after her tenth birthday, leaving only a cryptic note, Opal tried desperately to find him. And when he never turned up, she enrolled at a boarding school for technical prodigies and tried to forget. Until now. Because WAVE, the world’s biggest virtual reality platform, has announced a contest where the winner gets to meet its billionaire founder. The same billionaire who worked closely with Opal’s dad. The one she always believed might know where he went. The one who maybe even murdered him. What begins as a small data hack to win the contest spirals out of control when Opal goes viral, digging her deeper into a hole of lies, hacks, and manipulation. How far will Opal go for the answers–or is it the attention–she’s wanted for years?

inspection

Inspection by Josh Malerman

Goodreads Description: J is a student at a school deep in a forest far away from the rest of the world. J is one of only twenty-six students, all of whom think of the school’s enigmatic founder as their father. J’s peers are the only family he has ever had. The students are being trained to be prodigies of art, science, and athletics, and their life at the school is all they know—and all they are allowed to know. But J suspects that there is something out there, beyond the pines, that the founder does not want him to see, and he’s beginning to ask questions. What is the real purpose of this place? Why can the students never leave? And what secrets is their father hiding from them? Meanwhile, on the other side of the forest, in a school very much like J’s, a girl named K is asking the same questions. J has never seen a girl, and K has never seen a boy. As K and J work to investigate the secrets of their two strange schools, they come to discover something even more mysterious: each other.

deposingnathan

Deposing Nathan by Zack Smedley

Goodreads Description: For sixteen years, Nate was the perfect son—the product of a no-nonsense upbringing and deep spiritual faith. Then he met Cam, who pushed him to break rules, dream, and accept himself. Conflicted, Nate began to push back. With each push, the boys became more entangled in each others’ worlds…but they also spiraled closer to their breaking points. And now all of it has fallen apart after a fistfight-turned-near-fatal-incident—one that’s left Nate with a stab wound and Cam in jail. Now Nate is being ordered to give a statement, under oath, that will send his best friend to prison. The problem is, the real story of what happened between them isn’t as simple as anyone thinks. With all eyes on him, Nate must make his confessions about what led up to that night with Cam…and in doing so, risk tearing both of their lives apart.

pastperfectlife

Past Perfect Life by Elizabeth Eulberg

Goodreads Description: Small-town Wisconsin high school senior Allison Smith loves her life the way it is-spending quality time with her widowed father and her tight-knit circle of friends, including best friend Marian and maybe-more-than-friends Neil. Sure she is stressed out about college applications . . . who wouldn’t be? In a few short months, everything’s going to change, big time. But when Ally files her applications, they send up a red flag . . . because she’s not Allison Smith. And Ally’s-make that Amanda’s-ordinary life is suddenly blown apart. Was everything before a lie? Who will she be after? And what will she do as now comes crashing down around her? An exciting new direction for acclaimed author Elizabeth Eulberg, Past Perfect Life is a tense and tender read about secrets and lies, reality and identity, and the ways we put ourselves back together when everything is broken.

Have you added any new books to your TBR? Feel free to link me to your posts if you have one or leave a comment letting me know what new books you added to your TBR.

I will hoping have a picture update coming soon. I have a ton of pictures that I took at a nature park to share, so I am stoked about that. You may have seen a lot of them if you follow me on Instagram though. 😛 I am so happy that it’s Friday. I’ve been sick all week (again), so I just want to lay in bed all weekend and binge watch something on Netflix.
