Best Books I’ve Read In 2018 (So Far).

Hey!

I can’t believe it’s already been half a year! So far in 2018 I have read 38 books and listened to 10 audiobooks (currently listening to my 10th now). Here are ten of my five star reads. I think total I have about 12 or 13 five stars for the year so far. All of these books below were so amazing and I loved everything about them. Some are sequels and series enders that I absolutely love so much.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes
Inferno by Julie Kagawa
Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi
your name. by Makoto Shinkai

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum
Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum
Orphan Number Eight by Kim van Alkemade
The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

Turtles All the Way Down was probably the biggest surprise of 2018 for me, because I honestly went into it thinking I was going to hate it. I don’t usually love John Green books, but this one was pretty amazing. Another surprise was The Cruel Prince, because really hyped books and I don’t mix well. I don’t usually love hyped books as much as everyone else and I have no idea why! But it just doesn’t always happen for me, but I loved The Cruel Prince so much. Immortal Reign (Falling Kingdoms) and Inferno (Talon Saga) were series enders and they are two of my favorite series of all-time! I hated to see them end, but they were so damn amazing. ALL THE FEELS.

What are some of the best books you’ve read in 2018 so far? Feel free to link me to your posts, so I can check them out!

    • Happy to see you loved Turtles too! 🙂 I am so glad I gave it a chance, because I wasn’t really sure I wanted to with how much luck has been with John Green books.

  1. Ahhh I love your list, Ashley! I loved Emergency Contact so much as well as Turtles All The Way Down. I had a little weakness for the Your Name movie, I preferred it over the book, but the book was quite awesome as well 😀

    • Thanks, Marie! The movie for Your Name was so good! The movie/script was actually written before the book, but since it was taking longer than expected for the movie to be completed, they released a book version first. 😛

    • It was such a nice surprise that I loved Turtles as much as I did. It’s always cool when a book can surprise you, especially when you think you’re going to hate it.

  2. Lovely post! ❤ I adored Emergency Contact so much, the others are on my TBR and I’m very excited to read them! ❤ Tell Me Three Things sounds super happy and I might get to it this summer.

    • I hope you get to Talon soon! I loved the series so much. It will forever hold a piece of my heart. I haven’t read Kagawa’s other books yet, but I have them so I am stoked to see what else she has written since I loved the Talon Saga so much. 🙂 Thanks for following me! I checked out your blog and it’s great. Will be following you too. ❤

  3. The Cruel Prince and Emergency Contact are definitely going to be on my favorite 2018 books list, too! Oh, and Tell Me Three Things and What To Say Next are such cute, fluffy reads, I loved them. Turtles was something so different from what I was expecting from John Green and you could even see how personal the book was to him.

    • Happy to see that you loved Tell Me Three Things and What To Say Next too! I’ve seen The Cruel Prince on so many lists this week. I agree, Turtles was so different than what I was expecting from John Green. It was great.
