HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
So sad it’s the last day of October! It’s Halloween though, so that’s always fun. I had this BIG Halloween TBR that I didn’t get to as much as I wanted. I read a few books from the list, but not many at all. I haven’t been reading as much as usual these days, which is a little bit of why I haven’t been around here as much. I did complete my Goodreads reading challenge this month, so that’s cool!
Now onto my recap of what I read in October. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.
Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read by myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of October.
I actually managed to finish reading The Art of Starving in September, but I had already posted my recap post before I finished it, because I didn’t think I would have it finished before October started. I am including it in this post as well.
The Art of Starving by Sam J. Miller – 3 out of 5 stars.
The Art of Starving was an okay book, but not completely memorable. I’m actually having a hard time even writing something about it because I don’t remember too much about it. The first half of the book was great, but then by the second half I was bored with it most of the time.
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera – 4 out of 5 stars.
I enjoyed They Both Die at the End so much. Adam Silvera always knows how to leave me a crying mess at the end though, haha. I loved Mateo and Rufus so much. I thought it was so cool that there are Instagram accounts that go along with the story. It was cool being able to see pictures of what Mateo and Rufus did.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix – 4 out of 5 stars.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism was really good and pretty creepy at times. I had a lot of fun reading it and I loved the way that it ended. It was definitely perfect for this month. I’m glad I finally got around to reading it.
The Outside by Laura Bickle – 5 out of 5 stars.
Okay, so I read the first book in this duology (The Hallowed Ones) in 2015 I believe. I absolutely loved that book so much and I don’t know why it took me so long to finally read The Outside. I am so glad that I finally read it, because it was just as great as the first book. This duology is definitely on my list of favorite books. I don’t know if you’ve read Enclave by Ann Aguirre, but at times it reminded me a little bit of that series (WHICH I LOVE SO MUCH), so I was hooked.
The Hollow Girl by Hillary Monahan – 5 out of 5 stars. – Review.
The Hollow Girl is hands down one of my favorite books that I read this year. I loved the story and the characters. It was creepy, it was really dark, and it is also a really important book. Feel free to check out my review for me.
Currently Reading Books:
These are the books that I started to read in the month of October, but didn’t get a chance to finish them yet.
Catacomb by Madeleine Roux
The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
I am really enjoying them both so far, so I am excited to finish them in November. I’m not sure of all the books I will be reading in November, but hopefully finishing these. Possibly read Without Merit and I have an eARC from Netgalley (Being Fishkill by Ruth Lehrer). I still need to finish Invictus too. It’s taking me forever to read it, but it’s mostly because I haven’t been in the mood for that type of book. I may pick it up again in November and attempt to finish it.
I also plan to listen to the audiobooks of the Razorland series, because I really want to read the fourth book that just came out. I love that series so freaking much (mentioned Enclave above). The third book (Horde) came out in 2013, so it’s been a LONG time since I’ve be in that world and I need a reread. Luckily my library has all of the audiobooks available right now.
What did you read in October? Have you read any of the books that in October? Feel free to link me to your wrap up posts, so I can check them out!
Do you have any plans for Halloween? I never got around to watching Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown yet, so I think tonight I plan to watch those movies since I watch them every October. I can’t miss this year! I went to my cousin’s Halloween party on Saturday, which was fun. Here are mine and my mom’s costumes, lol. I wore my costume (minus the mask) today for work.
