Recap|| August.

augustrecap

Hi!

August has been one of my not so good months as far as reading goes. I’ve been majorly slumping and it SUUUUCKS. Both for reading and blog (and even bookstagram). 😦 I hope that I can pull out of this for September, because I have so many books that I need (and want) to read. I also have quite a few ARCs to still reading, but didn’t get a chance to really dive into them this month due to this annoying reading slump!

Now onto my recap of what I read in August. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read by myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of August.

The Border by Steve Schafer – 5 out of 5 stars – Review.
The Border was a very emotional read. At times it was pretty scary and some of the events that happen are horrific. There were some good moments as well even through all the bad. Hands down, one of my favorite books of the year so far. This book, this story, these characters were EVERYTHING. I loved this book so much and it’ll be one of those books that I will forever think about, talk about, and recommend. Feel free to check out my review for more.

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler – 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Twenty Boy Summer was a book that I’ve owned for awhile now, so I decided to finally read it. Plus it’s summer and I was looking for a fun summer read. It was a quick read and just what I needed. I really enjoyed it.

The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones – 4.5 out of 5 stars – Review.
The Hearts We Sold was such a fun book to read, but it was also heartbreaking which I was honestly not expecting. I thought that this book was really original and not something that I’ve read before. There were definitely some “WHAAAAT???!!!!” moments as I was reading this book. The plot twist was very unexpected, but was so good. I liked that there were little bits of romance in the book, but it wasn’t overpowering. Perfect creep factor too. I loved this book and I would highly recommend it. Feel free to check out my review for more.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee – 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.
I loved gentleman’s guide from the very first page and then halfway way into the book it went downhill for me for quite awhile. I started to get so bored, sadly. I really liked Monty and Percy’s friendship/relationship a lot. I also liked Felicity too. I think Monty would have been pretty useless without her and Percy. He was hilarious though and I like the person he became in the end. I’m pretty happy with the ending. I overall enjoyed the book, but I wasn’t blown away by it. It had it’s good moments though.

Currently Reading Books:
These are the books that I started to read in the month of August, but didn’t get a chance to finish them yet.

Invictus by Ryan Graudin
A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

When I get in a reading slump, I start a million books hoping that one will get me out of my slump. It hasn’t worked yet, but these are my top priorities for reading in September along with a few other ARCs. I’ve gotten pretty far (well not really that far; only about 28%) into The Hate U Give, which is a lot further than I have in the others so far. So maybe it’ll get me out of this slump and I can happily read and enjoy these other two books.

What did you read in August? Have you read any of the books that in August? Feel free to link me to your wrap up posts, so I can check them out!

I hope to do a picture update ASAP! It’s been so long since I’ve last done one of those and I have been taking a lot of pictures and posting them to my personal Instagram account and my photography account.
