FRIDAY FINDS showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).
Hi!
Today I have four books to share with you guys that all sound like they are going to be pretty amazing reads! Included down below is the Goodreads description as well as my thoughts/first impressions of the books. You can see more of my TBR over on my Goodreads account over here and feel free to add me as a friend!
The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones
I came home from vacation on Tuesday to an ARC sent to me from The Novl of The Hearts We Sold. I am so stoked to read this one. It sounds like it’s going to be so good. Making a deal with a demon? YES! The cover for this book is so awesome. I love that the lettering of the title looks like it’s sewed on the cover. Expected publication: August 8th 2017.
Goodreads Description: When Dee Moreno makes a deal with a demon—her heart in exchange for an escape from a disastrous home life—she finds the trade may have been more than she bargained for. And becoming “heartless” is only the beginning. What lies ahead is a nightmare far bigger, far more monstrous than anything she could have ever imagined. With reality turned on its head, Dee has only a group of other deal-making teens to keep her grounded, including the charming but secretive James Lancer. And as something grows between them amid an otherworldy ordeal, Dee begins to wonder: Can she give someone her heart when it’s no longer hers to give?
The Wicker King by K. Ancrum
I love psychological thriller stuff and I don’t read enough psychological thriller books at all. The Wicker King sounds right up my alley. Dark prophecies and alternate worlds, sounds pretty wicked. I need to get my hands on this book. Expected publication: October 31st 2017.
Goodreads Description: The Wicker King is a psychological young adult thriller that follows two friends struggling as one spirals into madness. When August learns that his best friend, Jack, shows signs of degenerative hallucinatory disorder, he is determined to help Jack cope. Jack’s vivid and long-term visions take the form of an elaborate fantasy world layered over our own—a world ruled by the Wicker King. As Jack leads them on a quest to fulfill a dark prophecy in this alternate world, even August begins to question what is real or not. August and Jack struggle to keep afloat as they teeter between fantasy and their own emotions. In the end, each must choose his own truth.
Everything Must Go by Jenny Eran Davis
Everything Must Go sounds pretty interesting. The thing that really drew me to this book was that it’s told in letters, emails, and journal entries. I love books like that, because they’re always fun to read and make everything feel so real and like you’re even more connected to the character. They are also usually pretty easy to read too. Definitely a book I need to get a copy of ASAP. Expected publication: October 3rd 2017.
Goodreads Description: Flora Goldwasser has fallen in love. She won’t admit it to anyone, but something about Elijah Huck has pulled her under. When he tells her about the hippie Quaker school he attended in the Hudson Valley called Quare Academy, where he’ll be teaching next year, Flora gives up her tony upper east side prep school for a life on a farm, hoping to woo him. A fish out of water, Flora stands out like a sore thumb in her vintage suits among the tattered tunics and ripped jeans of the rest of the student body. When Elijah doesn’t show up, Flora must make the most of the situation and will ultimately learn more about herself than she ever thought possible. Told in a series of letters, emails, journal entries and various ephemera, Flora’s dramatic first year is laid out for all to see, embarrassing moments and all.
Violet Grenade by Victoria Scott
The purple (violet) cover for Violet Grenade is so pretty and I love the flowers. I am a sucker for flowers, especially bright colored ones. This book sounds SO FREAKING GOOD though. Sounds like there is going to be a lot of secrets to uncover in this one, which is usually fun. It was published back in May, so hopefully soon I can get a copy.
Goodreads Description: Domino: A runaway with blood on her hands. Cain: A silent boy about to explode. Madam Karina: A woman who demands obedience. Wilson: The one who will destroy them all. || When Madam Karina discovers Domino in an alleyway, she offers her a position at her girls’ home in secluded West Texas. With no alternatives and an agenda of her own, Domino accepts. It isn’t long before she is fighting her way up the ranks to gain the madam’s approval…and falling for Cain, the mysterious boy living in the basement. But the madam has horrible secrets. So do the girls in the house. So does Cain. Escaping is harder than Domino expects, though, because the madam doesn’t like to lose inventory. But then, Madam Karina doesn’t know about the danger living inside Domino’s mind. Madam Karina doesn’t know about Wilson.
