Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Summer Reads Freebie: In preparation for Memorial Day (which is always the unofficial summer kickoff for me), let’s rec some summer/beach reads: books to go in your beach bag, best books set in summer, books with summer-y covers, best beach reads for people who don’t enjoy contemporary/realistic reads, best beach reads for fans of X genre, etc. etc.
Hi!
The topic for today’s TTT post is a freebie. I decided to go with ten books that have the word “SUMMER” in their title that are on my TBR list. I own nine out of the ten books that will be included in my post. I knew I owned a lot of books with “summer” in the title, but I honestly didn’t think it was going to be nine books, lol. 😛
The Last Best Days of Summer by Valerie Hobbs
How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler
Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
Summer of Sloane by Erin L. Schneider
The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel
Cold Summer by Gwen Cole *this is the one I don’t own*
Some of these books I’ve had since 2015 and still haven’t read them, ugh. I’m so behind in unread books. Maybe this year I should make it a goal to read at least five of these books over the summer, lol. They all sound really good and give off a summer vibe…I guess with summer being a key word in them, lol. 😛 A lot of really cool summery book covers as well, which I love.
Have you read any of these books? Feel free to link me to your TTT posts, so I can check them out! 😀
In case you missed it;
Friday Finds #64.
I hope you have a great day!
Sadly the only book in this list I’ve read is Twenty Boy Summer, and I loved it! It wasn’t what I was expecting though. It gets kind of deep about loss and grief. It’s a very enjoyable book while being about a lot of different things.
Twenty Boy Summer sounds like a really good read. Glad to hear that you loved it! I hope I do too. 🙂
I haven’t read any of these but The Summer of Chasing Mermaids is a great title!
I’ve had The Summer of Chasing Mermaids since it released in 2015 I think. I really need to get around to reading it an all of these books lol.
What a fun topic! Now I want to go through my books and see how many have summer in the title, too. I have Second Chance Summer, so at least one. 🙂
My TTT.
Thanks! 😀 I was pretty surprised I had so many. I knew I had at least a few, but was pretty surprised when I was going through my books and seen I had nine. I really need to read Second Chance Summer! 🙂
I remember wanting to read Summer of Sloane so badly… then I bought it and it has sat unread on my Kindle ever since lol.
Same, hahah. Maybe we should buddy read it at some point this summer.
Ohh I really want to read Second Chance Summer! I’ve heard great things and it sounds so perfect for summer haha. Loved your list, hope you enjoy all these reads!
I really want to read it too! Maybe I should make it a point to read it this summer. It sounds really good. Thank you! 🙂
Great list! I cannot recommend The Summer That Melted Everything enough; it was one of my top reads last year. ❤ And I have Second Chance Summer and Summer Of Sloane on my TBR pile as well.
Thank you! I’ve heard so many good things about the Summer That Melted Everything. I really need to check it out ASAP! I’ve had Summer of Sloane and Second Chance Summer forever, I really need to get around to reading more summery books.
Love The Sword of Summer!

Glad to hear you loved the Sword of Summer! I loved the Percy Jackson series, so I am excited to read all of Riordan’s new series. I have The Hidden Oracle too that I need to get around to reading.
Ooh you have so much good reading ahead of you 🙂
The Summer I turned Pretty and Second Chance Summer are on my tbr too! Hope you enjoy reading all the books!
Here’s my TTT
Thank you 😀
Hopefully we both enjoy these two books when we get around to reading them.
