Hello!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I’ve actually been reading quite a bit, which is awesome considering I am SO busy with getting all the last minute wedding things done. There has been quite a lot of hiccups with that, which sucks. Most hasn’t been turning out like I want it to, but honestly, some of it is my fault. It’s been nice to escape all of the crazy wedding stuff with reading more. Here’s what I’ve been reading over the last week/two weeks.
Currently Reading:
Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner
I was approved on Netgalley for Goodbye Days and I am so stoked. I’ve been dying to get my hands on Zentner’s new book. The Serpent King was my favorite book that I read last year, so I am excited that I get to read it now. I am about halfway through it already, it’s so hard to put down. It’s so sad though! 😦 The Serpent King tore me to pieces and I have a feeling this one will too.
Here’s the Goodreads description if you’re interested: Can a text message destroy your life? Carver Briggs never thought a simple text would cause a fatal crash, killing his three best friends, Mars, Eli, and Blake. Now Carver can’t stop blaming himself for the accident and even worse, there could be a criminal investigation into the deaths. Then Blake’s grandmother asks Carver to remember her grandson with a ‘goodbye day’ together. Carver has his misgivings, but he starts to help the families of his lost friends grieve with their own memorial days, along with Eli’s bereaved girlfriend Jesmyn. But not everyone is willing to forgive. Carver’s own despair and guilt threatens to pull him under into panic and anxiety as he faces punishment for his terrible mistake. Can the goodbye days really help?
Recently Finished:
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon – Review.
The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon
I have no idea why it took me so long to read this series. It’s so amazing and I loved them both so much. I gave both The Bone Season and The Mime Order five stars. I’ve been REALLY picky with my ratings over the last year or so, so giving these both five stars is big! So action packed and fast paced. So hard to put down and easy to fly through them. Great story line, world, and characters. I loved everything about this series and I am dying to get my hands on the third book in a few weeks! I plan to read that one right away. This series will NO LONGER collect dust on my shelves. Feel free to check out my review of the Bone Season linked above.
Here’s The Bone Season‘s Goodreads description if you’re interested: The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing. It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.
Reading Next:
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I honestly have no idea what I am going to read next. I’m not really sure what I am in the mood for. I think I’ll for sure read Milk and Honey until I figure out what I want to read next. It’s a book of poems, so it’ll be a really quick read. It’ll also be different what I have been reading the last month and a half. I like reading poetry books like these. I read I Wrote This For You a few years ago and loved that and this a bit similar to that.
Here’s the Goodreads description if you’re interested: Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. It is about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose, deals with a different pain, heals a different heartache. milk and honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.

That’s awesome that you’re so engrossed in Goodbye Days! That one is on my TBR.
My WWW Wednesday.
Just finished it last night! It was so good! Can’t wait for you to read it!
I read The Bone Season when it first came out but I definitely need to reread it before starting The Mime Order. I guess I’ll just wait and binge the whole series with the finale gets released! 🙂
It’s not the finale! I actually believe there is going to be 6-7 books in the series! 😀 Binge reading the first three books will be fun though. 🙂
What?! I don’t know why I thought it was the finale! Oh well, I’ll still binge read them all haha! 😁
Goodbye Days sounds like a relevant book that will remind us of how much we risk when we drive and text.
Enjoy your books, and here’s MY WWW POST
It really is a relevant book to read, especially these days. So many people text and drive and it probably never crosses their minds the consequences with doing so. It was a really good book. Thanks for linking me to your post!
I really need to read The Bone Season. I’ve heard so many great things about it and I recently acquired the first book so will hopefully get to it sometime soon!
Here’s my WWW.
