Hey! 🙂
I was tagged by Joey from Thoughts and Afterthoughts to do the Lunar New Year book tag! This tag looks totally awesome and there are really cool graphics that go along with it. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a tag post. It was created by Joey and Tiff from Mostly YA Lit. You can also link of your posts to their link page and check out posts from other bloggers that did it as well over here. One more link for you guys… you can download the graphics/banners for this tag over on Tiff’s blog: https://www.mostlyyalit.com/download/3491/
Now onto this fun tag! 🙂
Shattered Blue by Lauren Bird Horowitz
I talk about this series so much, because it holds a place in my heart. I love the series so much. Bird is also such a cool person and she writes amazing books (and poetry). Shattered Blue is out now and the sequel (Renegade Red) will be released March 14th. It has definitely flown under the radar and I think more people should be reading and talking about it.
I honestly have no idea who to put down for this one. I’m drawing a serious blank. I guess I’ll just go with Hermione from Harry Potter even if I REALLY DO NOT like her at all. She had a strong desire to do good with her school work and didn’t really seem to like having fun very much…..which was annoying. I swear she never let Ron and Harry have fun.
The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
This book was not my favorite book, but I felt like it was a really important book and I would still recommend everyone to read it. It’s a real eye opener as well and will open your eyes to the world around you.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Simon and Blue. They were so cute together and I love this book so much. It was hard not to smile non-stop while reading this book.
The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye
I recently read The Crown’s Game at the beginning of the year and I enjoyed it so much. It has royalty in it; the prince Pasha is heir to the throne.
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
Mayor Prentiss hands down! His character was brilliant. You wanted to hate him so badly (and at times you really did hate him), but then you also wanted to believe every single thing that came out of his mouth and trust him more than everything (and at times you really did trust him). I think he was very good at manipulating people in the book and even us readers!
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
This was one of my favorite books last year, so I have to include it in this list. I think everyone should read it. It was so good, but keep tissues on hand! I can’t wait to get my hands on Jeff’s new book; Goodbye Days.
The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone
This is one of my favorite book cover designs. The cover is so pretty with the yellow, the anchor, and the flowers. Under the dust jacket is even more amazing and pretty! It’s so colorful and I am obsessed with it. It was a total cover by for me, but I am really looking forward to reading it as well.
I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
Howie from I Hunt Killers is SO hilarious. I laugh out loud anytime he opens his mouth. Even if they are in a sticky situation, he has something funny to say.
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
Caraval by Stephanie Gerber
Luckily, these are both out now and I own copies. I can’t wait to dive into them, because they both sound so good. I also LOVE Divergent so much, so I am stoked to see what Carve the Mark is all about.
I don’t really reread books very often, but I think I’ll go with Harry Potter for this one. The books are so fun to read and I love to watch the movies over and over again.
I bought two Renegade Red inspired jewelry pieces. I wouldn’t say that I spent too much on them though, because they were fairly reasonable pricing and the quality is amazing. It’s probably the most expensive book-related items I have bought. Above is a picture of my red tube bracelet. I haven’t received my second bracelet yet. I will say though as far as too much time goes, I think I invested way too much time into the 5th Wave series only to be completely let down with that ending….WTF?!

Recap|| January.
I hope you have a great Friday and weekend!
YES! I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting tags. What better one this time a year then the Chinese New Year Tag! Perfect. Thanks for the tag Ashley 😀
P.S. Great answers! I definitely agree with Simon Vs. and The Serpent King answers.
At this point, Shattered Blue et al. is more prominent than I Hunt Killers…maybe (?); which, I should also add that I think Howie on his own feels a bit trope-y to me but when you mix him with Jasper, it’s golden!
Thanks for participating!
