Recap|| January.

januaryrecap

Hey!

First off, I reached 800 followers this month on my blog! I am so stoked and so appreciative of you all! Thank you! 😀

I am posting this a couple days early, because I don’t think I will be finishing any other books this month. It’s been one busy month for me, so I didn’t get to read a whole lot. I was also battling a bit of a reading slump after reading Renegade Red. I did get quite a bit accomplished this month as far as my wedding goes though! I think I work better last minute and under pressure, hah. 😛

Here’s what I read this month and what I am still currently reading and hoping to finish next month. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.

Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read by myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of January.

Renegade Red by Lauren Bird Horowitz – Review. – 5 out of 5 stars.
Renegade Red is the sequel to Shattered Blue and it was such an amazing sequel. So many twists and turns. I had no idea what was going on. When thought I had it figured it, nope…haha. Feel free to check out my review for more. Also, in case you missed it, you can join the Renegade Red blog tour. You’ll get an ARC of the book and you’ll also be entered into a few awesome giveaways. Check out my blog post (JOIN the Renegade Red Blog Tour!) for more information on how to join the blog tour and enter the giveaways!

The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye – Review. – 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I really enjoyed the book. It was a fun read and a good cast of characters. The ending left off with a little bit of a cliffhanger, so I am super stoked to see what happens next. I am also glad that I loved this book, because now I can buy the second book. I am obsessed with the cover of the second book and now I can’t wait to get it for my shelves, haha. Feel free to check out my review for more.

Audiobooks:
These are the books that I listened to the audio versions throughout the month of January.

ravenboysthirteenreasonswhy

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – 4 out of 5 stars.
I really liked The Raven Boys a lot and I can’t wait to get my hands on the other books. I decided to give the audiobook a shot, so if I ended up liking it then I could go buy all the books in the series, because the covers are amazing.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher – 3  out of 5 stars.
I’ve had Thirteen Reasons Why on my TBR for a very long time. It was okay. I wasn’t blown away by it though. I am curious to see how it plays out in the Netflix original series that I believe is coming out soon for it though.

Currently Reading:
These are the books that I started in the month of January, but have not finished yet.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
The Complete Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway

I started buddy reading the Bone Season with Maren (The Wornbookmark) and Shelbie. It’s such a good book so far. I am about 150 pages into it. I am pretty intrigued by it. I’ve been taking a bit of a break in between to read some of the Hemingway stories as well.

What did you read this month? Have you read any of the books that I read? Feel free to link me to your wrap up posts!

I will have my book haul posted in the next day or two. I still need to take the pictures of my books and I am currently still waiting on one that is being released tomorrow, so be on the look out for that post soon! 🙂

I hope you have a great Monday!

  1. You had a good reading month Ashley & managed to motivate me to boost up The Crown’s Game on my TBR. I’d also really like to get to The Bone Season this year *fingers crossed* I meant to thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Book Biff…smh…I’m addicted but #noregrets LOL! THANK U! I’ve purchased 2 so far and the owner of the shop is such a sweetheart! ❤

    • With being so busy this month, I am glad I was still able to read some books! 😀 I hope you enjoy The Bone Season and The Crown’s Game! I will hopefully finish the Bone Season in February. OMG, Book Biff…hahah. I have to stop looking at her site or I’ll buy them all! I need to chill out for the next few months, lol. 😛 Which ones did you buy? ❤

      • Thanks Ashley & I completely understand, I have been swamped both at work and at home with my 2 tiny humans. Can’t wait to see what you think of The Bone Season 😉 & I’m not sure if we follow each other on Instagram (it’s blocked on my work PC which is where I’m blogging from @ the moment lol) but I’m Lair_of_books on IG. I posted a photo of my 2 new Biffs, Wonderwoman & the newspaper from Fantastic Beasts <! I'm obsessed, they are so pretty! 🙂

      • Yes! I just seen them. I believe we do follow each other (I’m foreverbookish_). 😊 The ones you got are really cool, especially the newspaper one.

  2. Congratulations on reaching 800 followers 🌸💖 You definitely deserve every one of them! The Raven Boys is so good, I can’t wait to read the rest of the books (they’ve been on my shelf since November 🙈).

    • Thank you! 😀 I need to read the rest of the books as well. I don’t own any of them yet, so I plan to buy them at some point this year and finish this series! 🙂 I hope we both get around to reading them soon!

  3. I love the Bone Season. I re-read it a couple of months ago and once I’ve finished my current books I’ll be picking up the Mime Order. I’m super excited for the third book to come out in March!

  4. Eeeee congrats on 800 followers! You deserve every one of them. ❤️❤️ And yayyyy I’m so happy you liked The Crown’s Game, it was such a good book. I swear, it’s been so long since I’ve read one of your posts, but they’re as lovely as always! January seems to have been a good month for you. 🙂

  5. Congrats on the 800 followers and yay for wedding progress! I can’t even imagine how stressful that must be (one of my best friends is getting married this Saturday and she’s going crazy right now haha). I’m glad you liked The Raven Boys and I really have to read Shattered Blue and The Crown’s Game soon. Happy reading! 😀

    • Thank you! 😀 I’m so glad to have made a lot of progress with the wedding stuff. It’s been insane and I don’t have much longer! Can’t wait for you to read Shattered Blue and The Crown’s Game!
