I finally read The Crown’s Game! It was a book that I REALLY wanted to read last year, but never got around to it. It was actually my TBR jar book draw this month and I am so glad it got picked.

It took me a little longer than I expected to read it, but that’s because I’ve been battling a small reading slump this month. The times I did pick it up to read, it was so easy to read and easy to fly through pages. I seen some mixed reviews on this book, but I personally loved it. I loved the world, I loved the different magic, and most of the characters.

Nikolai and Pasha’s friendship was hands down one of my favorites. I actually at one point totally shipped them and wanted them to be together, lol. Perfect bromance. I’m not a huge fan of Vika and I disliked that there is a little love triangle going on. I am not a huge love triangle fan in books, so warning if you don’t like love triangles. It was still a good book regardless, especially for Nikolai and Pasha. Their friendship made it worth it.

The magic! I loved that Vika and Nikolai’s magic were completely different and they could each do different things. It was fun to see what they came up with throughout the game. One thing that annoyed me a little was although the things they did during the game was cool and fun…I was expecting something different. I don’t know how to put it exactly, but I guess maybe more “angrier” things or something. It’s hard to explain without actually saying the things they did. In the game they had to impress the tsar to become his Imperial Enchanter and I felt like they could have done better things to impress him.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. It was a fun read and a good cast of characters. The ending left off with a little bit of a cliffhanger, so I am super stoked to see what happens next. I am also glad that I loved this book, because now I can buy the second book. I am obsessed with the cover of the second book and now I can’t wait to get it for my shelves, haha.
