I am really glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book, because I ended up really enjoying it. Will is blind, which I can’t even imagine what a struggle that is. He seemed like he had a good system though and how to navigate through life with his disability.  I instantly liked Will and thought he was so hilarious.

Will made some really awesome new friends at his new school, which I loved. It was a great mix of characters and their friendship in their little circle was pretty awesome. They were really supportive of him and didn’t care that he was blind. They still treated him as they would anyone else. I think their personalities fit well with Will. They all had me laughing so much. I especially loved Cecily. When Will couldn’t understand things, she was right there explain everything to him in a way that he would be able to comprehend them. She opened his eyes to a lot of things as well.

His parents (especially his dad) kind of ticked me off a lot. I felt like his dad wasn’t as supportive about Will having the surgery and I felt like his mom was way too pushy about it. I can understand with all the health risks and why his dad wouldn’t be as okay about it, but I felt like he could have been a little bit more supportive of Will’s decision at the beginning.

I honestly thought Will struggled more after he had the surgery to fix his eyes. With going your entire life blind, I am sure it’s very overwhelming being able to see the world. It’s confusing, it’s a lot to take in, and you have to relearn everything all over again. Will embraced it and I felt that even with all his struggles, he still tried to make the best of it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am so glad I had the chance to read it. It opens your eyes to a whole new world and way of seeing things. The world isn’t always what you expect it to be. I was a little disappointed with the last 30 or so pages, because I felt like it was lacking the excitement that I felt should have been there. I wanted more from it and Will when he was seeing different places. I enjoyed the story and the characters overall though. I would definitely recommend reading this book. It will be released January 3rd, 2017, so be on the look out for it!
