netgalley

Hello!

I seen the Netgalley book tag over on Yvo’s blog It’s All About Books and I decided to do it as well. It looks like a lot of fun and I use and love Netgalley! 😛

Rules:

  • Link back to the tag’s creator (Kourtni Reads)
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you
  • Answer the questions the best you can. If you don’t use NetGalley, you can substitute other sites or places where you get books!

Questions:

Auto-Approved: Who’s one author whose books you automatically want to read, regardless of what they’re about?

So many authors! Here are several (it’s too hard to choose one) that I will automatically read anything they write without question: Barry Lyga (Jasper Dent series), Veronica Roth (Divergent series), Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson series), Lauren Bird Horowitz (the Light trilogy), Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking trilogy), Morgan Rhodes (Falling Kingdoms series), Leigh Bardguo (The Grisha trilogy), Colleen Hoover (Ugly Love), and Mitch Albom (The Five People You Meet In Heaven).

Request: What makes you want to request a book that you see on NetGalley?

I tend to go for the books that I think (or know) are going to be really popular or if it’s an author that I love. I don’t always love hyped books a lot of the time, so I want to read them before they get even more hyped so I request them as early as I can in hopes that I don’t fall victim to the hype and end up hating the book. If a cover jumps out at me, then I will read the description and if I like it I’ll request that way as well.

Feedback Ratio: Do you review every book you read? If not, how do you decide what books to review?

I don’t always review every single book I read. If it’s a popular book, then I’ll review it. If it’s a new release, then I’ll review it. I tend to not review older books that have been out for over a couple years. I have reviewed them before, but if I choose not to do a review on a book I read then that’s typically the reasoning behind that decision. I try to review all the books I read though.

As far as Netgalley goes though, I review every single book I request over there or if I am sent ARCs (or already published books) from authors/publishers then I always review those as well. My actual feedback ratio on Netgalley is 100%!

Badges: If you could create your own badge to display on your blog, what would it be for?

Hmmm…I am not creative at all, so this is a tough question. As far as my reading goes for this year…I think I would probably earn a badge for being in the most reading slumps and for not blogging as much this year. So I guess I create those badges, LOL. Maybe it’ll boost my spirits and get me back on track! I am Queen of the Reading/Blogging Slumps. I have five actual badges on Netgalley.

Wish for It: What’s one book that you are absolutely dying to read?

This is a tough question, because there are a ton of books that I am dying to read! I think I’ll break the rule and mention the top three books that I am dying to read!

caravalthediaboliccarvethemark

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

I want them all! I am dying to read them and the book covers are so amazing. I need to own them as soon as possible. 😛

2016 NetGalley Challenge: What was the last book that you received as an ARC that you reviewed? If you’ve never received an ARC, what’s the last book you reviewed?

stealingsnowdarkmatter

I think that last ARC that I reviewed was Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige. It wasn’t what I expected and ended up not liking it as much as I had hoped. You can check out my review over here. The last book that I reviewed that wasn’t an ARC was Dark Matter, which I loved more than words could ever explain. You can check out my review over here.

  1. I saw this on Yvo’s the other day too and thought about doing it but since you tagged me I will for sure do it now! Good choices on your answers. I can’t wait to read Caraval, too!

  2. 100%?!?! YES! you are #GOALS right now haha! Caraval is at the verrrrrry top of my highly anticipated books for 2017 & I seriously kicked myself hard for missing it at Bookcon in the beginning of the month because I wasn’t paying attention but let’s not dwell on my failure lol. I own Dark Matter & don’t know why I haven’t started it yet but I’ve only heard Amazing things, matter of fact V.E. Schwab was at Bookcon & she mentioned LOVING Dark Matter so much! I made a mental note to boost it up the invisible TBR lol. Great Tag answers 🙂

    • Haha, thanks! 😀 I try not to go crazy with requesting books or I would be drowning in ARCs! I think not requesting so much helps with the 100% ratio and staying on top of it. I highly recommend reading Dark Matter! It was SOOO good!

  3. I’m also excited for the same books you listed in ‘Wish for it’ 😀 especially the Diabolic.
Also, feedback ratio 100%?! Oh my, I don’t think I’ll ever get to that number.

    • Diabolic sounds so amazing!! I hope it’s as good as it sounds. I try not to go crazy with requesting books or I would be drowning in ARCs! I think not requesting so much helps with the 100% ratio and staying on top of it.

      • I have been too. I went for over a month without posting anything and I’m trying to get back into it. I haven’t been reading as much lately so I haven’t had as many books to review as usual.

      • It really does. I’ve finally hit my stride again thanks to Rick Riordan and Magnus Chase! I’m hoping my slightly increased reading pace will help now.

  5. Wow 100% feedback rating, that’s awesome! I was about 80% for quite some time, but I went a bit crazy requesting new titles and I’m at 68% right now. I’ve decided to add Dark Matter to my November TBR no matter what. 😀

    • I try not to go crazy with requesting books or I would be drowning in ARCs! I think not requesting so much helps with the 100% ratio and staying on top of it. Can’t wait to see what you think about Dark Matter!

      • I’ll definitely have to stop requesting new titles for a while… I was good during the first few months of my Netgalley experience, but October has been a bad BAD month for my ratio haha.

  7. Woo! Thanks for the tag 😀
Me and NetGalley have a love hate relationship. I’m so bad at requesting books that I tend to request them all… and then surprise I get approved. Now I have 10+ books I need to read … >.>

    • Last year I was non-stop requesting and then I got so overwhelmed with all of the books I had to read! This year I have been better about it and not going crazy with it haha.
