HEY!

I am pretty busy today, but I wanted to get a post up on my blog today. I want to try to be better about posting in my blog again. It’s been crazy busy for me lately and the on-going reading slump I have been in made it so hard to blog! Anyway, onto my post! Here is what I have been reading (and listening to) so far this week!

Currently Reading:

amonstercallsprideandprejudice

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

Sadly, I am not as far into A Monster Calls as I would have liked. I just haven’t had the time to sit down and actually read it with no interruptions. I’m about 60 pages in and it’s pretty interesting so far though. Maren (The Worn Bookmark) sent me an audiobook copy of Pride & Prejudice and I am currently listening to it. I’m not far into it yet since I started it at the end of the work day. I am really excited to listen to it though since I’ve really been wanting to read this book.

Recently Finished:

nightmarecityiamnotaserialkiller

Nightmare City by Andrew Klavan
I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells

Both of these books were so strange. Nightmare City I wasn’t really sure what was happening, eventually it came together and it wasn’t that great. The suspense was annoying and it wasn’t that exciting. I Am Not A Serial Killer was a bit better than Nightmare City. I was thinking it would be similar to I Hunt Killers (one of my favorite books and I am sure you guys seen me talk about it a lot), but it took a completely unexpected turn and got weird lol. I still liked it, but it wasn’t mind-blowing awesome. It was a 3 star for me and Nightmare City was a 2 star.

Reading Next:

I am not entirely sure what I am going to read next. I did make a Halloween themed TBR, which you can check out over here! I know it’ll be something off that list of spooky books! Which one do you think I should read next from my Halloweenie TBR?

What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? Have you read any of these books? Let me know and link me to your posts if you have one!

    • Yes, your first comment was in my spam folder but I approved it. I loved The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It was pretty amazing. I am about 100 pages into A Monster Calls and it’s pretty good so far. Thanks for linking me to your post!

  1. Curious of what you end up thinking of A Monster Calls. I’ve never read anything by that author, but he’s getting a lot of attention! I vote for Blood and Salt! It sounds good!

    • I read the first and second book in his Chaos Walking trilogy. I loved the first book so much! I am excited to be reading more Ness! I think Maren and I are going to buddy read Blood and Salt sometime this month! 😀 It sounds so good. I used to be so scared of Children of the Corn movie as a kid and they say it’s a mix of that!

    • I love the illustrations in A Monster Calls. I think that it gives the reading a better experience being able to see the pictures that go along with it. I’m not too far into P&P yet, but hopefully I love it!

  2. Wow! Your two current reads are both absolutely amazing… and for completely different reasons! 🙂 I’ve read P&P many times and seen TV and film versions, but I’ve never listened to an audiobook version. You should be in safe hands with Rosamund Pike though – she has a great voice for doing Austen.
A Monster Calls is utterly devastating and at the same time so beautiful. Just wonderful stuff!

    • I’m glad to hear that my two currently reading books are amazing choices. I’m about 100 pages into A Monster Calls and I really like it so far. I’m not that far into P&P yet. I only listened to about 30 minutes of it so far. Hopefully I can start back on it Monday.

  3. I had the exact same thoughts while reading I Am Not A Serial Killer haha. I actually want to reread Jasper Dent now; it’s been too long since I read the series… And A Monster Calls sounds like a really great read; I hope you will enjoy your books this week.

    Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

    • I Am Not A Serial Killer was so weird, haha. I was like “wait…what?” haha. It was still pretty interesting though. I want to reread Jasper Dent too! I miss that story so much haha.

      • I liked it up until the point where it suddenly got weird haha. Maybe because I was expecting a different angle? And I’m definitely going to plan a Jasper Dent reread some time soon.

  4. Do you have the illustrated edition of A Monster Calls? I read a non illustrated edition, and whilst I loved the story, I think the illustrations probably add to the reading experience overall. P&P is one of my favourite classics.

Your Halloweenie TBR looks amazing – I wouldn’t know where to start!

    • Yes, I have the illustrated edition of A Monster Calls. I have the non-illustrated one on my Kindle as well. I like reading it with the pictures. It’s cool being able to see them and get a better feel for the story. THANK YOU! 🙂

  5. Reading slumps are the worst! I love Pride and Prejudice (although my favourite Austen has to be Emma)! I’ve heard such amazing things about A Monster Calls and I am kind of scared to read it.
    Here’s my WWW

  6. I’ve been tempted to pick up ‘A Monster Calls’ for a long time! I hope you like it. The illustrator is the same one who’s doing the Harry Potter series. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
