I was tagged by Alex from Young at Heart to do the Reader Confessions tag. I’ve been so busy the past few weeks, so I haven’t been updating as much. I haven’t even finished a single book yet this month and it’s driving me crazy! It’s been a bit since I’ve done a tag post and I do have tons to catch up on. Thanks again for tagging me, Alex! 😀
Have you ever damaged a book?
I probably have, but not intentionally. I would never intentionally damage a book. I am actually struggling with this right now for my wedding LOL! I want to have a lot of bookish things incorporated, but I don’t want to damage books in the process haha. I had to order book pages online, so I wouldn’t have to destroy books myself.
Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
I don’t borrow books very often and I don’t think I have ever damaged a borrowed book. If I had, then again it wouldn’t have been intentionally.
How long does it take you to read a book?
Sometimes it can take me a week or longer to finish a book. Depending on my mood and if I am enjoying the book. I can also read a book in a day or two as well. It all just depends on how I am feeling about the book and my mood. I tend to get into a lot of reading slumps.
Books that you haven’t finished?
I’ve started to DNF a lot of books over the last year and a half, but the ones that come to mind off the top of my head are:
Paper Towns by John Green
Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Paper Towns was annoying. I didn’t like the characters and it wasn’t that exciting. Never Always Sometimes was giving me the Paper Towns vibe and I just could not do it. Nevernight had so many things wrong with it for me, but I still want to give it another chance one day. I had an eARC of the book and the footnotes were at the end of the chapter, which was annoying to have to switch back and forth on an e-reader/Kindle. It was a really slow start where I found myself bored to death and I was also REALLY confused with everything going on. When I would stop reading for the day and pick it up the next day, I couldn’t remember anything that happened because I was just not at all invested in it. The footnotes and excessive descriptions of things made it hard to enjoy.
Hyped popular books that you don’t like?
Sometimes I struggle with hyped books. It’s hard for me to get past all the hype and actually enjoy the book. There have been tons of books where I’m just like “why do people love this so much?”.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff/Amie Kaufman
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
We Were Liars was just plain boring. Nothing exciting happened. The characters were flat. The ending was kind of lame. Illuminae had a cool concept and the layout was interesting, but the story itself was not that great. There were a lot of things I found annoying with the Wrath and the Dawn and the book itself was just confusing, especially with all the characters having so many names and it being so hard to pronounce a lot of the names. I spent more time trying to remember names and pronunciations than actually being able to enjoy the book. I found it to be pretty boring as well. I also didn’t really enjoy the the Lunar Chronicles that much. Some books were okay and others were pretty boring. It was also SO hard for me to get through Throne of Glass, because it was so boring and not a lot happened. Everyone swears the series gets better, so I will probably read the second book and see.
Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Nope, I don’t think so. I don’t think anyone should be ashamed about what books they read or loved.
How many books do you own?
As of right now I own a little over 600 books. That’s with Kindle and physical books. I actually have a page on my blog that shows you all the books that I own. 331 physical books and 282 Kindle books, lol! I’m drowning in books.
Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
I am definitely a slow reader. It’s kind of annoying at times, because I have so many books that I own that I would love to read.
Do you like to buddy read?
Yes! Buddy reading is a lot of fun. I haven’t done a buddy read in awhile though!
Do you read better in your head or out loud?
Definitely read better in my head. I don’t think I ever read out loud. I might if there is a lot of background noise and I am finding it hard to concentrate.
If you were only allowed to own one book what one and why?
Nooooooooooo! This is the worst question in the history of bookish questions! I guess I’ll go with my favorite book and that is Psycho by Robert Bloch. I love that book so much and it’s so entertaining.

Sorry if you have already done this tag! I’ve been kind of MIA from the blogosphere lately, so I haven’t been keeping track of all the tags floating around. If I didn’t tag you and you would like to do the tag, then please feel free to do it too and send me your links, so I can check out your answers! 😀
I hope you have a great day!

Sometimes libraries have really old books that are just going to be recycled. You could always ask them for beat up old books, if you need the pages! Good luck with wedding planning 😀 (I gave out books for my wedding favors! It was a lot of fun.)
I’ll have to look into checking out my library for some books! I thought about buying books from Goodwill since they are $0.75-$1.50 each, but then I don’t know if I can personally destroy a book LOL! 😛 THANK YOU!
Thanks for the tag!! Loved your answers! ❤ And I completely agree about Paper Towns. It started my aversion to John Green books 😛
Thank you 😀 The only other John Green book I read was TFIOS (which I loved), but ever since not liking Paper Towns and DNF it, it’s made me not sure about picking up his other books.
I also didn’t love Paper Towns and I had a DNF for Abundance of Katherines. I know you mentioned this on my post as well, but let’s do a buddy read! We can brainstorm some books maybe for next month sometime 😊 great answers!
Since next month is October, maybe we can figure out a spooky/creepy read that’s perfect for the season! 🙂
Oh wow I can’t believe how many books you have, that’s A LOT. But drowning in books is great, isn’t it? 😀
Yeah, it’s definitely a lot of books LOL! I need time to stop, so I can read them all! 😛
I don’t think I’ve ever read to myself aloud before, I should try it sometime and see how I feel about it
To me it kind of feels awkward and weird reading aloud, lol! I rarely do it. Only if the distractions and background noises is way too much for me.
I guess there’s that too, maybe I’ll try it out when no one else is around
Yay! A new tag to expose all my secrets 😛
Thanks Ashley haha
I’m a slow reader too – much slower than you though I’m sure 🙂 I often wish I could get through the books I want to read faster but it doesn’t happen, so I just feel satisfied if I can keep up my usual pace.
As for not wanting to destroy books, I can definitely empathise. I think I could only do it if they were already falling apart/headed for the bin and I didn’t have any personal attachment to them… but ripping out pages is still not a good feeling!
Lately I’ve been getting slower at reading. It took me 12 days to finish a 300 page book! UGHHH! It could be that I’m kind of in a reading slump too though. Hopefully it doesn’t take me another 12 days to read another book LOL.
Yeah, maybe if the book was already falling apart it might be okay. But to destroy a book that is perfectly fine is way too difficult LOL!
