Hey!
I am currently slumping pretty badly right now. I haven’t been in the mood to read and the books that I did read ended up being not that great, so it pushed me further into this reading slump, sigh. I need to get out of it! I have so many books to read! I’ve also been going through a lot this month and so many things floating around in my head; it’s kind of making it hard to let it all go and read. My mind wanders too much to these other things happening in my life that I can’t focus on what I’m reading. I have done a little bit though since my last WWW post. Here is what I’ve been reading in the past couple weeks.
Currently Reading:
Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
I am halfway through Stealing Snow and so far I am not really enjoying it like I hoped I would. It’s been a really slow start. I am also finding it hard to connect with the characters. I don’t want to DNF it though, because it took me awhile to really get into Dorothy Must Die (Paige’s other series) and I ended up really enjoying the entire series; so hopefully it gets better for me. I am about 100 pages into Ruin and Rising. I’m stoked to be back into this world and so far I like this book. It already seems to be a bit better than Siege and Storm was.
Recently Finished:
With Malice by Eileen Cook
The Last Star by Rick Yancey
I rated both of these books 2.5 out of 5 stars. They weren’t that great. They were actually pretty boring the majority of the time. I did a review of With Malice, which I will link at the end of this entry. The Last Star was such a disappointment, because I really loved the 5th Wave and the Infinite Sea. I don’t know what happened with this book besides the fact that nothing happened. I was so bored that once I stopped the audiobook, I had forgotten most of what even happened not even five minutes later. I expected a lot out of both of these books and was let down.
Reading Next:
Slammed by Colleen Hoover
Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley
I am honestly not sure what I will be reading next. With this reading slump that I am in, I don’t know what may happen. I usually fly through CoHo books, so I may give Slammed a try. I am also next in line for the audiobook of Highly Illogical Behavior at my library, so that may be my next audiobook.
What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? Have you read any of these books? Let me know and link me to your posts if you have one!

I hope you have a great day!
Maybe Slammed will help you out of the funk you’re in. I loved that one. 🙂
Here’s my WWW.
I hope so too! I always end up loving all of CoHo’s books, so maybe I need to dive into another!
Sorry to hear about your slump 😦 I was in a slump earlier this month and mine sounds a lot like yours with life getting crazy. CoHo is usually where I go too in a reading slump so I hope you enjoy Slammed.
I feel like I have to start focusing on a lot of other things in my life and I am getting behind on them! So it’s all driving me crazy and making it to where it’s hard to even read a book without feeling guilty. Like my wedding that I have barely done anything for, ughh. Thanks! I have loved all of CoHo’s books, so I hope I end up loving Slammed too!
Yikes good luck with everything and congratulations on getting married! Or in the process of getting married. I can totally see how all of that is making you feel guilty about reading but think of it this way: planning a wedding is incredibly stressful and you’re going to need something that helps you relax and if reading will help you relax and keep your sanity then no one would blame you for that at all.
Thank you! 😀
I love Slammed! CoHo is great for a reading slump!!
Glad to hear that you loved Slammed! I have yet to not like one of CoHo’s books, so I am excited!
Hopefully Slammed will get you out of your reading funk! I’ve not read that one, but a lot of people seem to love it!
Here’s my post. 🙂
I hope Slammed can get me out of this funk too! I hope I love Slammed like everyone else. I haven’t been disappointed with Hoover yet! 🙂
I’m glad you’re enjoying Ruin and Rising! I liked Siege and Storm more than Shadow and Bone so I’m happy to hear the trend continues 🙂
I’m glad to be back into this world! I definitely missed it. 🙂
Sorry to hear you didn’t like With Malice. 😦 I really enjoyed it, but that might have been because I hadn’t read a thriller in a very, very long time. Glad to hear you’re enjoying R&R. I know a ton of people say S&S was their favorite, but that was my least favorite in the series, and R&R was perhaps my favorite. 🙂

I’m sad I didn’t like With Malice as much as I hoped I would. 😦 Siege and Storm has been my least favorite too. I’m glad you liked Ruin and Rising better. I’m only a little over 100 pages in and I already like it better than S&S!
I’m sorry the last 5th Wave book was such a disappointment. Better luck with your future reads. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
I seen around the blogosphere that a lot of people were disappointed with the Last Star. It sucks that I had to be one of them too! 😦 Hopefully my next read will be better! 😀
So sorry to hear about your slump! That’s always discouraging. Maybe daydreaming about your next trip to Universal Florida will help! 🙂 Is there a book that you know you’ll like that you just haven’t gotten a chance to read, yet?
I just finished “Labyrinth Lost” by Zoraida Cordova, today, and I had to drag myself through the end of it. I’m on a bit of a “YA slump,” having read so many that I didn’t like, lately. Thankfully, I’m in the middle of two other books (“The Way of Shadows” by Brent Weeks & the hilarious “Crocodile on the Sandbank” by Elizabeth Peters) that I’m really enjoying, so I’m just happy to be finished with the other!
You’ll find an awesome read, soon!!
I’ve been reading Ruin and Rising and I actually really enjoy it, so I think it might be helping to hopefully get me out of this reading slump! I should hopefully be finished with it today! I might be in a YA slump as well. I do have more adult books that I could read, so I might have to give one of those ago next to see if that also helps. Thanks! I’ve never heard of the books that you mentioned, so I’ll have to check them out! 🙂
Awesome! So glad to hear that!! I bet finishing a trilogy really helps beat a slump. I love finishing a series; it’s like cleaning house 🙂 I haven’t read anything by Leigh Bardugo, yet, but I keep hearing about her work. I really need to try her out. Maybe she’ll get me out of my YA slump! 🙂
Cool boooks! 🙂
