Hi!
I’m so excited that I reached 600 followers on my blog this month! I haven’t been as active as I used to and as much as I want to be and I apologize for that, but thank you all so much for continuing to read my blog and following it! Sometimes I still don’t always know what I’m doing with my blog and it’s been a year and a half, lol. I appreciate and love you all though! đ June has been a kind of bad month for reading for me. I didn’t read as much as I hoped I would and the majority of the books that I did read this month weren’t all that spectacular.
Now for my recap. You can find a full list of these books and the other books I read this year over here. All will be linked to Goodreads below and I will also link to individual blog posts for them if I did a review.
DNFÂ Books:
These are the books that I did not finish throughout the month of June.
lies beneath by anne greenwood brown
I got through half of the audiobook, but I was bored the entire time listening to it. There wasn’t much happening and it was hard for me to connect with the characters and the story. I decided not to continue with it.
Physically Read Books:
These are the books that I read by myself (not audiobooks) throughout the month of June.
mistborn by brandon sanderson – REVIEW. – 4 OUT OF 5 STARS.
I did a buddy read of Mistborn and I loved it. I loved the characters, the world, the story. It was really interesting. I laughed. I cried. I actually wasn’t expecting to cry as much as I did, to be honest. I really grew to love the characters in the book so much though and it was hard not to feel everything they felt. It did have it’s boring parts, but overall it was pretty awesome and I can’t wait to read the next book. Feel free to check out my review for more.
hearts, fingers, and other things to cross by katie finn – 5 OUT OF 5 STARS.
I’ve mentioned it quite a bit how obsessed I am with the Broken Hearts & Revenge series by Katie Finn. The final book was released this year and it was such a great book. It was so nice diving back into this series and I thought that it ended really well. I’ve told you a million times already to go read this series, so I will tell you a million and one….GO READ THIS SERIES! đ Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Cross is the first book. Add it to your TBRs. In case you didn’t know, Katie Finn is actually Morgan Matson. So if there any Morgan Matson fans out there that didn’t know, now you know and you will love this series…because well…it’s Morgan Matson and you love her.
we awaken by calista lynne – REVIEW. – 2 OUT OF 5 STARS.
I was hoping to love this book, because it’s so different from what I’ve read. It dealt with asexuality, which I had no idea about before reading this book. I thought it was beneficial in the sense that you get a better understand of asexuality. The story itself wasn’t too enjoyable for me. Feel free to check out my review for more.
illuminae by amie kaufman, jay kristoff – 2.5 OUT OF 5 STARS.
Unpopular opinion! I was not blown away by Illuminae. Everyone has talked about how amazing it is. How crazy it is. How cool it is. It’s SO hyped. I didn’t think it was all that great. It was interesting at times. I was just so bored the majority of the time. The last 100 or so pages were better, but the 500 pages before it was just “meh”. Review to come.
Audiobooks:
These are the books that I listened to the audio versions throughout the month of June.
stars above by marissa meyer – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS.
I actually only listened to The Mechanic and the wedding novellas in this book. I haven’t been the biggest fan of the Lunar Chronicles, so I didn’t want to bore myself with all of the novellas like I continued to do with trying to get through all the books in the series. I really liked the wedding novella, although it wasn’t the characters’ wedding I expected it was going to be about. I still enjoyed it though.
the crown by kiera cass – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS.
I’ve had a love/hate for this series. I really loved the first three books. The Heir was horrible and just plain sucked. The Crown was a step up from The Heir though. It wasn’t an amazing ending and I pretty much already knew who she was going to choose.
the book of spirits and thieves by morgan rhodes – REVIEW. – 3.5 OUT OF 5 STARS.
This is a Falling Kingdoms spin-off series. I thought it was good and interesting. I did find it to be a little boring at times and hard to really connect to the characters. I blame Falling Kingdoms for a lot of that though, because my mind kept wandering back to that series. I did enjoy it though and I can’t wait to read the next book. Feel free to check out my review for more.
an ember in the ashes by sabaa tahir â REVIEW. – 4 OUT OF 5 STARS.
This was an audiobook reread for me. I wanted to refresh my memory before A Torch Against the Night releases in August. I still loved it just as much as the first time and I can’t wait to read the sequel and see what happens next! Feel free to check out my review for more.
the great american whatever by tim federle â REVIEW. – 3 OUT OF 5 STARS.
This book was just whatever. đ I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t love it. I couldn’t really connect with the characters. I could barely stand them, to be honest. It had it’s moments. It did make me laugh at times. I just felt like the story was lacking substance, it fell flat, and it just wasn’t for me. Feel free to check out my review for more.

my kind of crazy by robin reul
I started My Kind of Crazy earlier this week, so far I really like it. I like the characters and it’s pretty funny too. I hope that it continues to be a good read. I NEED a good read! The last few books I read were back to back not that great. Crossing my fingers for My Kind of Crazy!
Thatâs all for my June recap. Have you read any of these books? Link me to all of your recap posts!
