Currently Reading:
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
My Kind of Crazy by Robin Reul
I am a little half way through Illuminae and I find it really boring. I don’t love it. I don’t even think I like it. I mean, some of it is interesting; but the majority of it is boring. I recently just started My Kind of Crazy, so I am not that far into it. So far it’s pretty funny and I like it. I was approved for this ARC awhile ago on Netgalley and never had the chance to read it. I am finally reading it now and I’m really looking forward to it.
Recently Finished:
We Awaken by Calista Lynne – REVIEW.
The Great American Whatever by Tim Federle – REVIEW.
These books were both two star reads for me. They weren’t the greatest, which was a bit of a disappointment, because they both sounded like they would be good. We Awaken deals with asexuality, which is different from most books I have read and have come across. I didn’t know about asexuality before reading it, so it was cool that I was able to get a better understanding of it. The Great American Whatever was a bit boring and it was hard to connect with the characters, especially because I found them to be annoying. Check out my reviews for more about them (linked above).
Reading Next:
I have no clue what I will be reading next. I am actually kind of feeling a bit slumpish, so I may just take a break from reading for a little bit. My DVR is also jammed packed with TV shows that I need to catch up on, lol. It’s also Shark Week, so I have a bunch of shark shows recorded as well. 😛 So…how about what I’m watching next?
Orphan Black – I have five episodes that I am behind on. AHHHHHH.
Wayward Pines – I believe I am behind by 2-3 episodes, oops.
Vanishing Women – Two episodes behind. Really 1 and a half though, because I watched half of one.
And then we have Shark Week like I mentioned above. I currently have about four shark shows recorded right now. Also, one of my favorite shows (Big Brother) started back last week, so there’s that as well. I have a ton of TV shows like I have a ton of books. I am drowning in books and I am drowning in TV shows, lol.
What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? (or watching)! Let me know and link me to your posts if you have one!
I’ve been working on my book haul posts and my monthly recap posts, so those should be coming soon. I’ll probably have my e-book haul tomorrow. I got a lot of books this month, so I split them into two posts, lol. 😛
I hope you have a great day!
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear Illuminae is boring you 😦 If you stick with it, I hope it picks up and you at least come out thinking it’s ok.

I’m still going to try to finish Illuminae. I read another 100 pages yesterday and it’s still hard to really like it. I guess it’s an okay read, but I wish it was more exciting as everyone else has said it is.
Both of your currents are on my TBR. I own Illuminae, so I’m hoping it picks up and you end up liking it!

I hope that you like Illuminae better than I am. I have about 200 pages left and it still hasn’t really been awesome for me. 😦
I found illuminae a bit dull up until the 200 page mark. I have we awaken to read for July.
I’m way past the 200 mark. I’m 400 pages in and I just can’t get that into it. 😦 I hope you like We Awaken.
Oh no. It’s not going to everyone’s cup of tea😊 I hope so too. I have only seen you review it.
Illluminae is one I’ve been seeing around, but haven’t actually felt drawn to it. So maybe it’s good you stopped reading. My motto for books I don’t enjoy is to DNF before I give away too much of my precious time. Here’s MY WWW POST
I didn’t used to DNF books, but I started to last year and I don’t mind doing that anymore. I don’t want to waste all my time trying to get through a book I don’t like. I’m still trying to read Illuminae since I only have 200 pages left and it’s in a weird format, so it’s easy to get through a lot of pages in a short time. But it definitely isn’t the greatest book like everyone seems to think it is.
I need to watch Orphan Black so bad, I’ve heard so many good things about it!
Yes, you definitely need to watch Orphan Black! 😀 It’s so crazy and so good!
My Kind of Crazy sounds cool. Happy reading! Here’s my WWW Wednesday https://awondrousbookshelf.com/2016/06/29/www-wednesday-5/
So far My Kind of Crazy is a pretty fun read! 🙂
I actually thought that Illuminae was quite boring as well; it relies too much on the layout and the plot itself is not really interesting at all. I’m glad you are liking My Kind Of Crazy better though, because too many disappointing reads together can be really annoying!
Happy reading! (or should I say ‘watching’? 😉 ) Here’s my WWW.
I’m so disappointed in Illuminae 😦 I think I had my expectations set way too high for this book, because all I’ve seen since it was released has been nothing but amazing things. I feel like June was a month of disappointing reads lol. I think I read two amazing books and one was a reread.
I wasn’t that impressed by Illuminae and I made the huge mistake of reading it on my kindle, which is basically impossible for some chapters. xD I’m sorry to hear so many reads were disappointing! Fingers crossed July will be better. 🙂
Enjoy the TV binge this week. It can be really refreshing especially during this hot weather. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
It’s definitely refreshing to have a break from reading and just catch up on all your favorite TV shows. TV needs love too. 😛
I’m currently rereading A Game of Thrones! I don’t often reread books, as there are so many great books out there I haven’t read yet! But impatience for the next book and having forgotten many of the little details have made me go back to the start. I’m really enjoying picking up the little nuances I notice with foreknowledge.
I’ve been wanting to read A Game of Thrones, but it’s so intimidating with the amount of pages lol. It sounds so good though! I don’t often reread books either, because like you said, there are so many books that need to be read! I usually just read summaries of previous books in a series before picking up the next book.
The size is a big problem, as it’s so easy to forget the details, which is why I’m reading it again! But the detail’s also what I love, like the little conversations characters have as they’re on their way somewhere, which is what you can’t really get with the TV series.
I’ve never seen the TV series either. I watched the first episode, but I didn’t really care for it as much. I thought it was a little boring. I never watched any of the others yet though. I may give the audiobooks a chance though!
The books are definitely more rewarding, but I worry that the series won’t get finished. Maybe wait till the last book’s definitely published :).
My friend tried to push Illuminae on me write after it came out and I just couldn’t. I felt it was very much over-hyped. I have been binge watching Grey’s Anatomy and not reading as much as I should. Hope you get caught up!
Illuminae was definitely way over hyped and I just wasn’t into it as much as I hoped I would be and as much as everyone else is. I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy, but I know so many people love it.
