Hi!
I am still pretty much slumping, but I have been getting back into audiobooks. I was slumping so bad that even listening to audiobooks seemed like a chore and too much for me. So maybe now that I am actually wanting to listen to more books is a step toward getting out of this reading slump completely! Here is what I’ve been reading/listening to this week.
Currently Reading:
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
Winter by Marissa Meyer
I am still slowly making progress with Seveneves. I’m annoyed that my progress is so slow with this one since I really love it, but at least it’s some progress. I’m a little over 200 pages in. I’m a little over 100 pages into Winter. I started the audiobook yesterday, because reading the other books in the series took me forever, because I haven’t been 100% in love with this series. The majority of the series bored me to death, but I still want to see how it ends, so I figured audiobook would be best for me. So far it’s okay.
Recently Finished:
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes
Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell
I listened to the first two books in the Falling Kingdom series. The first book was good. I wasn’t blown away by it, but it was good. Too much Merlin BBC similarities and all I could think about was the TV show and finding all the similar things, lol. You can check out my review over here. Rebel Spring was a lot better! I really liked that one so much. There was so much death in it though, lol. I was convinced there wouldn’t be anymore characters left in the book once it was finished. 😛 In Rebel Spring though with the audiobook, King Gaius sounded just like Mr. Gold from Once Upon a Time. So all I kept thinking about was Mr. Gold. I was just waiting for the Rumpelstiltskin laugh, lol. I read Kindred Spirits the other day in one sitting. It’s only a 62 pages book though. It was good, but I wasn’t completely sold on it. Probably because I don’t really like Star Wars. I think had I been a huge Star Wars fan, I would have loved it.
Reading Next:
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
Alienated by Melissa Landers
I am still hoping to start The Serpent King next. My on-going reading slump has prevented me from getting any reading done myself. I own Alienated on e-book, but I think I’ll be listening to the audiobook after Winter. It sounds really good and I’ve been wanting to read it forever now and the library had it available. I’m currently waiting for the third audiobook in the Falling Kingdoms series from the library. So hopefully by time I’m done with Winter and Alienated, it’ll be available.
What are you currently reading? Recently finished? Reading next? Let me know and link me to your posts if you have one!
I hope you have an awesome day!
I love the typography of Kindred Spirits. I want a copy just for that 😀 Happy reading! https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2016/04/13/www-wednesday-april-13-2016/
Yes! I love the typography as well! 🙂
Oh I loved Winter. I listened to it as well and all I kept doing was picturing Winter being played by Luna Lovegood 🙂 It was a long book but enjoyable.

Now that you mention Luna Lovegood, that’s who I picture too! LOL! I definitely like Winter more than the other books right now.
I’ve seen The Serpent King on a lot of lists lately. Might need to check that one out too!

The Serpent King sounds so good! I hope I can get to reading it soon! 🙂
I really want to read The Serpent King. I’ve heard great things. I hope you enjoy it!

Hopefully I can start The Serpent King next week! 😀 Dying to see why everyone loves it so much.
I am a Star Wars fan and can’t wait to get my hands on Kindred Spirits 🙂 I think, once again, I may be the last person in the blogosphere to read it!
I’m glad you’re finding Winter ok so far. It’s probably good to read it slowly because it is so long and I thought it became a little repetitive. I didn’t mind that though – I just wanted to hang out with the characters for as long as possible before it was all over.

Hopefully you can get a copy of Kindred Spirits soon! 🙂 It was a cute story, but I definitely would have enjoyed it more had I been a Star Wars fan. So far I like Winter more than I did the other books and I’m about half way through it, so that’s good. I’m sad I haven’t loved the series like everyone else, but I still liked it enough to want to see how it all ends.
Serpent King is on my list as well, though I’m sure I actually want to read it, lol. I’ve heard great things about it, so we will see I guess.
I agree with you about Kindred Spirits. I like Star Wars but I’m not a huge fan. The book was cute though.
Here’s my post for the week. 🙂
Hopefully I can start the Serpent King next week. I want to see why everyone loves it so much, lol. I hope my expectations aren’t too high though, because my track record for liking hyped books is bad. I tend to not like them much at all. Yeah, Kindred Spirits was still cute even with all the Star Wars haha. 🙂
I know what you mean about hyped books. That’s how I felt with TLTSTW (I set that aside last night). I started The Serpent King last night, so we’ll see how I like it.
I really want to read Kindred Spirits soon, I love the sound of it. I’d never seen any of the Star Wars films until about 18 months ago but as soon as I started watching them I was an instant fan. I even bought tickets for my me and my husband to see the latest film on release day… so I can probably relate to this book!

I saw the newest Star Wars movie that just came out, but that’s the only Star Wars movie I ever seen. The fiance wants me to have a Star Wars movie marathon with him sometime lol. The new one I watched wasn’t horrible, so I may give them a chance. Hopefully you can read Kindred Spirits soon! 🙂
My husband kept asking me over the years to give Star Wars a try but I was so sure I wouldn’t like it. Eventually I felt bad and agreed to give them a try and I was hooked very quickly! I hope you enjoy them if you decide to watch them. I’ve not managed to read much this week and feel a bit overwhelmed with the books I’m reading so I might read Kindred Spirits soon with it being short and fun. 🙂
Reading slumps suck! 😦 Good to hear audiobooks at least help a little… I personally enjoyed Kindred Spirits even though I’m not into Star Wars either haha. The rest of the books are still on my TBR pile (expect for Winter, which I loved). I hope you’ll enjoy your books this week!
Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.
YES!! Reading slumps definitely suck, especially when they go on for months! I’m glad the audiobooks are helping. I just hope they are helping me actually get out of this slump. Kindred Spirits was still a cute little story, but I still think I would have loved it even more if I was a huge Star Wars fan, lol. I’m glad you liked it! So far Winter is good. I like it better than I did the others.
Ahhh I really need to get a hold of Kindred Spirits. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, but I think I’d appreciate the references. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
Hopefully you can get a copy of Kindred Spirits soon! It was still a cute read. 🙂
