Hi 🙂
I am still in quite the reading slump, but I think I am just going to force myself to get through my current read regardless. If I don’t, I feel like I will never start reading again. 😦 I cannot let that happen! I need to get back into the swing of things. I haven’t been the same since my trip to California, lol sigh.
Currently Reading:
Seveneves by Neal Stephenson
I’m only a little over 100 pages into Seveneves, but I’m really enjoying it. It’s so interesting and I wish I wasn’t in this reading slump, so I could fly through it. It’s a really long book (870 pages), so I have a ton left to read. Here’s the Goodreads description:
A catastrophic event renders the earth a ticking time bomb. In a feverish race against the inevitable, nations around the globe band together to devise an ambitious plan to ensure the survival of humanity far beyond our atmosphere, in outer space. But the complexities and unpredictability of human nature coupled with unforeseen challenges and dangers threaten the intrepid pioneers, until only a handful of survivors remain . . .Five thousand years later, their progeny—seven distinct races now three billion strong—embark on yet another audacious journey into the unknown . . . to an alien world utterly transformed by cataclysm and time: Earth.
Recently Finished:
The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness
I LOVED The Knife of Never Letting Go and it pretty much emotionally drained me and I never started the second book. I finally got around to reading it and I was so disappointed. It was nowhere near as good as The Knife of Never Letting Go (rated 5 stars) was. I rated The Ask and the Answer 3.5 stars. It wasn’t as exciting until the last 100 or so pages. It took me quite awhile to read it, because it dragged on bit for me and was a little boring. I also didn’t like that it switched between Todd and Viola. I’m not a big fan of Viola and I really just wanted to read about Todd. So sad that I didn’t love it as much as I did the first book. It was still really good at times, but it fell really flat for me compared to the first book.
Reading Next:
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about The Serpent King, so I decided to buy a copy. Since I gave myself book buying restrictions, I am reading it this month. I decided I would only be buying books if I planned to read them within a month of buying them. If I don’t plan to read it right away, then I don’t bother to buy the books. I also really just want to read The Serpent King, because I want to see what everyone is raving about. I hope I love it, because I don’t have the best track record with hyped books. I tend to not like them as much as everyone else.
