Books You DNF.
HI!
I don’t always DNF books, because I sometimes feel guilty when I do. I try to force my way through them, but I’ve been slowly allowing myself to do so. There are just too many books I want to read to force myself to push through something I don’t like. Here are some of the books that I did not finish.
Paper Towns by John Green
Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
Partials by Dan Wells
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Never Always Sometimes by Adi Aslaid
Paper Towns, Partials, and Across the Universe were all really boring to me. I found my mind wandering way too much and wanting to just throw them out the window. I also didn’t like the characters. Grasshopper Jungle was too weird for me and I hated the main character. He was so annoying and I just didn’t get it. Never Always Sometimes was one of my most anticipated reads last year. Every time I tried to pick it up, I felt like I wasn’t in the mood for it. It also made me think of Paper Towns a little bit and I honestly didn’t get past the second chapter. I still want to eventually give it another chance, but I’m not in any rush to pick it up again.
Have you read any of these books? What are some of your DNF books? Let me know and feel free to link me to your posts!
I’ve been kind of MIA with posting, but that’s because I haven’t been reading too much this month. I only finished five books and two of those were novellas. Hopefully next month will be better for me with reading and blogging. It’s been a crazy month though, because so much has been happening this month outside of the blogosphere. I’ll have my book haul post up next week and probably my March wrap up.
Over the weekend I posted my recap of my California trip with tons of pictures I took. Feel free to check out my post over here.
I hope you have a great day! 🙂
Partials is a book I’ve read the first chapter on. Still interested to keep reading it, just have a ton of books I have to get through first. My T5W
I was pretty bored with Partials, so I had to put it down. There are definitely a lot more books I rather be reading than that one.
I haven’t read any of these, though I have a friend who loved Paper Towns. Since everyone is so fond of John Green, it surprised me that it was a DNF. Though I’m not one to talk; I have never read a John Green novel. 😉
I try to finish a book before marking it DNF. I usually give the book 100 pages and if by then it hasn’t picked up I will DNF it.
Also, I wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge.
It seems like a lot of people really loved Paper Towns, but I just was not into it. It was my second John Green book. I really liked The Fault in Our Stars, but Paper Towns was just not good in my opinion. I try to push through most books instead of DNF them. But sometimes you just have to. Thank you for nominating me for the quote challenge! 🙂
Great list btw! 🙂 I’m skeptical to read Paper Towns.. I’ve been on a John Green hiatus for years.
Thank you! 😀
I have only read The Fault in Our Stars by him and really loved it. I just couldn’t get into Paper Towns though.
Great list! I struggled through Paper Towns and I wish I had just quit reading it too. I also wanted to chuck it out a window haha
It was so hard to read Paper Towns. I wanted to read it before the movie came out, but just couldn’t do it and it turned me off from wanting to see the movie too. LOL.
LOL I don’t really want to see the movie either. Although who knows, it could actually be better than the book 😛
I haven’t read any on your list. And I’ve never heard about them except Paper Towns. If you’re interested, here’s a link to my post: http://wp.me/p7ksIu-11 🙂
I wish they would have been better! I guess every book can’t be a winner. 😛
I own The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, but I really have no interest in picking it up, which is the case with the rest of his books. Here are some of the books I have DNFed: https://readingexperienceswithnora.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/t5w-books-i-dnf/
I actually liked The Fault in Our Stars, so I was a little disappointed when I didn’t like Paper Towns.
Ooh I really enjoyed Across the Universe. I haven’t read the other books you mentioned though. 😛
I’m glad you enjoyed Across the Universe! It just wasn’t for me. 😦
Great list! I’m currently reading Paper Towns (and I’m loving it)!
