Top Ten Quotes I Loved From Books I Read In The Past Year Or So.
Hi 🙂
I really don’t like the changes when creating a new blog post. It’s so annoying and the other one was so simple. Ugh. I’ve been pretty sick since Sunday night and it’s been the worst. I actually stayed home from work and that never happens. I’ve had this job for three years and I have only taken off one day out of three years of working there! I’m feeling slightly better, so that’s good. ANYWAY! Top Ten Tuesday time…
Here are the ten quotes from books that I read this past year that I love! This was not an easy post to do, because there are SO many quotes from books that I have loved so much!
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
“He talked about the ocean between people. And how the whole point of everything is to find a shore worth swimming to.”
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
“Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day, a single moment comes along to define every second that comes after.”
I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
“This is why I forgive, but I don’t forget. When you forget someone, the forgiveness doesn’t mean anything anymore.”
After the End by Amy Plum
“Doubt everything at least once. What you decide to keep, you’ll be able to be confident of. And what you decide to ditch, you will replace with what your instincts tell you is true.”
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
“Here’s what I think, I think maybe everybody falls. I think maybe we all do. And I don’t think that’s the asking. I think the asking is whether we get back up again.”
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
“I think you gotta be who you want to be until you feel like you are whoever it is you’re trying to become. Sometimes half of doing something is pretending that you can.”
Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey
“Life might be easier if you give in a little, but it’s better if you hold onto something so hard you can’t give it up.”
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
“Sometimes you do things for the right reasons and sometimes for the wrong ones and sometimes it’s impossible to tell the difference.”
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
“I do know enough to realize you cannot control the actions of others. You can only control what you do with yourself afterwards.”
Mosquitoland by David Arnold
“You spend your life roaming the hillsides, scouring the four corners of the earth, searching desperately for just one person to fucking get you. And I’m thinking, if you can find that, you’ve found home.”
What are some of your favorite quotes from books you read this year? Let me know and link me to your TTT posts! 🙂
I am going back to work today and it’s going to be super busy because I wasn’t there yesterday. I hope you have a great day! 😀
that Everything, Everything quotes is life hehe. Happy reading!
Here’s my post https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2015/11/17/14-books-id-buy-if-i-had-unlimited-book-depository-credit/
Everything, Everything was such a great book! Pretty much the entire book is quote worthy, haha.
You’ve got a couple good ones in here. Hope work isn’t too busy!
My TTT
Thank you! 😀
Sadly, work was so busy! I ended up having to stay an hour later. At least tomorrow won’t be as bad (hopefully) since I stayed late today!
I love your quotes, surprisingly I haven’t read any of these books haha! They all sound lovely and I really like your new blog graphics. Before I even read your posts I was all “Hey that’s new, and that’s new! So pretty!” 🙂
Thank you! I hope you get a chance to read all of these books! 🙂
Thanks! 😀 I’ve been trying out new things for my blog and it’s been fun!
These are great quotes! They make me want to read the books. 🙂
Hopefully you’ll get a chance to read some of them! 🙂
great quotes! And yessssss… the new post changes drove me CRAZY last night! I’m not a fan. lol. My TTT
It took me forever to do my post last night and I was getting so frustrated with it. I almost didn’t even have a TTT post today, because I wanted to give up on it altogether. lol.
I totally feel your pain!
I love your quotes, Ashley! 😀 I liked that you picked a different Simon quote than I did, it was so hard to choose for this book, it’s so quotable I think 🙂 I really love the Patrick Ness quote, too 🙂
Thanks, Marie! 🙂 Simon vs. is definitely really quotable and it was so hard choosing a quote!
I totally get that, I took at least twenty minutes reading all the quotes I could find from this book, before choosing, ahah! 😛
I totally agree with you on the changes! Ugh.
I love your quotes, though! 🙂
Why mess up a good thing? lol. It was so much simpler before! I’m sure we’ll eventually get used to the new one though.
Thanks 😀
Love the quotes! So many of these are on my TBR and now I can’t wait!
I hope you can get to reading some of these soon!
Me too!
Yes to The Wrath and the Dawn quote! Reading it at the moment and it’s great! 😀
Glad you’re enjoying the Wrath and the Dawn! I wish I loved it as much as everyone else did. It was still a decent read for me though and lots of good quotes in there! 🙂
These are all great choices Ashley!! I love The Knife of Never Letting Go one!! I really need to get to that book soon (dammit Amy just read the effing book already). And the Simon quote you chose is perfect!! That book is so quoteable I love it!
Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Yes, you need to read The Knife of Never Letting Go ASAP! I still need to finish the rest of the series though.
I love that Simon vs. is so quotable, but it was so hard choosing one! Love that book so much! ❤
YES! I’m so happy to see a Jasper Jones quote in the mix of all of this! That book has so many quotable moments, I wouldn’t be able to decide!
All your quotes were so deep and philosophical, I loved them.
Great choices 💓
I had to include a Jasper Jones quote! That book was just too amazing and I agree, it had so many quotable moments! It was definitely hard choosing one. ❤
Ugh I agree with you so much about the new wordpress layout. When I first saw it, I was like WHAT IS THIS?! It’s so complicated now and I bet I’m going to forget to schedule and accidentally post stuff (since it’s so easy to overlook now).
I love all of the quotes that you chose and I’m reminded, yet again, that I need to read Chaos Walking! Hopefully I can get to it this month 😀
It’s definitely pretty complicated. I was about to give up on doing my TTT post on Monday night, because I was getting so frustrated and annoyed. I was also scared I was going to accidentally publish my post while I was working on it, because I am so used to saving the draft myself throughout writing up a post!
Thanks! 🙂 It was so hard choosing quotes, because I love SO many! I haven’t finished the Chaos Walking series yet, but I really need to! The Knife of Never Letting Go was so good! 🙂
I’m posting through the dashboard and wp-admin now. It’s much more like what I’m used to. I can’t get over how weird the new format is… 😦
I haven’t read any of these yet. I love the quotes you picked, especially Dumplin’ and Mosquitoland. These two are on my TBR for sure. Great list!
