BOO! 🙂
It’s October 1st and that alone is pretty scary! I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. I love the holidays so much and this year I decided to do a Halloween themed TBR for the month of October. I’m going to be reading some hopefully spooky books throughout the month! I’m not sure if I will get through them all, but hopefully I will. I am really excited about this TBR and have been dying to post it since the beginning of September, lol!
Here is my “Halloweenie” TBR!
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
Slasher Girls and Monster Boys by Various Authors
Diary of a Haunting by M. Verano
Beyond by Graham McNamee
Asylum by Madeleine Roux
The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco
The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle
Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz
I may try to find a few spooky audiobooks to borrow from my library as well, but I haven’t had the chance to really look for those yet. I can’t wait to get started on these books! I honestly have no clue what I even want to start first! I am thinking I may make a mini TBR jar for this month and randomly draw which ones. I am currently reading Siege and Storm, so as soon as I am finished with that it will be onto my spooky reads!
I also thought it would be fun to share with you guys the Halloween movies that I watch every single year! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t watch all of these movies in the month of October! I’ve watched them every year since I was a kid and still do. It kind of became a little tradition of mine to watch these four movies every year.
Hocus Pocus
Beetlejuice
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Halloweentown
(first one)
I do like to watch the Halloween (Michael Myers) movies and Nightmare on Elm Street as well. But, it wouldn’t be Halloween to me if I didn’t watch these four movies. Childhoods best, for sure! I don’t think I’ve ever missed a year since I was a kid.
Are you going to be reading some spooky books this month? Are there any Halloween movies that you like to watch around this time of the year? Let me know!
In case you missed them, linked below are my September recap and September book haul!

Book Haul||September.
I hope you guys have an awesome first day of October! Bye!
Love your choices! I’m super intrigued by that Diary of a Haunting book! It looks really creepy! The Dead House is my first book from my Halloweeny TBR and I’ll be watching Hocus Pocus as well! It isn’t Halloween without Hocus Pocus!
Thanks 🙂
Diary of a Haunting wasn’t even going to be part of my TBR, but I seen it at Target yesterday and decided to get it. lol.
I agree, it is definitely not Halloween without Hocus Pocus! 🙂
Awesome! I’m going to Target tonight so I’ll see if mine has that one!
Hocus Pocus is a must! I always try to reread a favorite Stephen King novel during October!
I haven’t read any Stephen King books, but I really want to! I found a couple at Goodwill this year and got them.
I’ll be reading some spooky stuff this month too, I thought I’d finally get some Stephen King done. I’ve also owned Asylum for several years now so maybe I’ll read that one too 😀
I’m glad you’ll be reading spooky books too! I have never read any Stephen King books. I bought Asylum at the beginning of this year and haven’t read it yet. Figured this would be the perfect time to. 🙂
I’m planning on reading some spooky stuff this month too….but not too spooky, because I’m a big scaredy cat 🙂 Hocus Pocus is a Halloween essential!
I’m a big scaredy cat too, but I also like getting scared. HAHA! I won’t watch scary movies by myself at all though. Lol. Yes, Hocus Pocus is definitely essential!
I’m not very good with spooky stuff so I probably won’t be reading any of these books on your TBR (even the covers freak me out!). But I did just start Miss Peregrine’s so hopefully I’ll get to Library of Souls this month as well! Happy reading!
Some of these definitely have some creepy covers! I hope you love the Miss Peregrine’s series. It’s so good! I can’t wait to get to Library of Souls! 🙂
That’s such a great selection of spooky reads! I don’t know all of those books, but I will definitely check them out, and maybe add some to my TBR! 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Hopefully you were able to add some to your TBR!
Lovelt spooky choices,a bit too calm for me hehe, but Ill check them out.Library of souls is on my tbr!
Omg your Halloween TBR looks creepily amazing! I’ve been wanting to read Welcome to the Dark House foreverrr! I’d be interested in knowing your thoughts on it once you get to it! 🙂
Happy Reading! 🙂
Thank you 🙂 I am so excited to read all of these creepy books! I will definitely do a review on Welcome to the Dark House when I read it! 🙂
Those look like some awesome TBR’s!! Some are actually on my TBR I should have read them this month … but of course I have to read the books that are ready for me at the library instead :*(
Thanks 🙂 Hopefully you’ll fly through your library books and will be able to read some of these before the month ends!
Nice lists! I really want the Slasher book and Dead House. I just told Frank today that I wanted to watch Halloweentown! 🙂
Halloweentown is the best. 🙂
Enjoyed your Halloween list. Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is always a winner! Enjoy
Marilyn
Thank you! 🙂 The Great Pumpkin is one of the best!
I love your TBR pic! I have some of these on my TBR pile as well so I might try to read them as well. Halloween is a great excuse to read more scary books. Have fun reading them! 😀
Thank you! 🙂
Hopefully you’ll be able to read some of these as well! I am pretty excited to start! Hopefully I’ll be starting my first one tomorrow. 🙂
Yay! I will read Asylum for sure and hopefully some other titles as well. 🙂
Great post! I’ve been wanting to read Slasher Girls & Monster Boys for a while now. I’ve heard great things. And a short story by Leigh Bardugo? Count me in! I also want to get to The Girl from the Well. I’ve heard that its sequel is full-on scary, and I’m curious.
Didn’t love Asylum by Madeleine Roux. But I do hope you enjoy it! x
I am really excited to start Slasher Girls. I bought it when it was first released and have been saving it for this month. I am pretty much in love with Leigh Bardugo right now, so I am excited to see what her short story will be like. The Girl from the Well sounds really good and that’s awesome that the sequel will be full-on scary! Depending on how much I like it, I may just get the sequel in this month as well. 🙂
I’d love to see what you thought of all of them. 🙂 x
I’m too much of a coward to have a Halloween-y TBR! But I hope you enjoy all these books!
I’ve watched Hocus Pocus and I remember really enjoying it. The Nightmare on Elm Street films are creepy but I also have enjoyed watching them with my best friend!
xoxo 💋
Aww 😦 I will let you know if any of them are TOO scary!
Hocus Pocus is the best! I can’t ever get enough of it and I’m sure I seen it a million times. Haha. I love the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and whenever I catch them on TV, I’ll watch them.
❤
I’m doing the same! I tried to read Library of Souls and just could not get into it. Dead House is on my list as well! I am also planning on reading a bunch of older books that have been sitting on my shelf for a while. Lets see…Shattered Souls, Haunting Violet, and Masque of the Red Death. We’ll see how it goes! 🙂

Better make sure to read all these with the lights on!! Everyone seems to love Dead House so I I’m sure you will too!! I haven’t heard of a lot of these books but even the font is scary so I probably wont be reading them LOL!! Looks like you have an incredible month lined up!
I am actually not really enjoying The Dead House. I’m 150 pages in and it’s mostly been pretty boring to me. 😦 I really want to finish it ASAP, so I can move on to something else. But hopefully it’ll get better.
Oh that’s to bad! Maybe it ends really well?? I hope it gets better!
Ooh, awesome collection of scary reads! I will definitely be checking out some of these reads myself. 🙂 Looking forward to reading Library of Souls and The Dead House! ❤ Hope you enjoy them once you get around to reading them both.
Thank you! I am really excited to read them! Hopefully you enjoy the ones that you get to read! I can’t wait to start Library of Souls. I think it may be my next read.
