We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
2.5 OUT OF 5 STARS.

“Do not accept an evil you can change.”

I was instantly drawn to this book when I read the description, but then the book sat on my bookshelf for a long time after I bought it. I used my book jar to determine what to read next and I pulled out We Were Liars. I was pretty excited about reading this book and then I opened the book and that excitement went out the window. I did not like writing style and Cadence was a twit and annoying. If I’m being honest, they were all annoying. I didn’t like any of the characters in the book. I found the story pretty boring and I was just annoyed with the whole thing in general. The book is a little over 200 pages and even then it felt like it was way too long. It was drawn out. It might have been better if it was 50 pages shorter, in my opinion. There was just too much of nothing going on and I felt like there was just added nonsense to make the book longer.

Some of my favorite things in the book were when they talked about food. I felt like the writer captured the food really well, but what about the story itself? – Not so much. I liked Cadence’s “Once Upon A Time” stories. Those were fun to read, but the rest of the book…not so much. I mean the twist was pretty crazy, don’t get me wrong. I didn’t see that coming, but it took so long to get to it that it almost wasn’t even worth it. I loved the book spine better than the content inside. It was shiny and pretty. I enjoyed watching my boyfriend play Halo more than reading the book and I really don’t like watching him play video games. *shock face emoji* 😛  I had high hopes for this book and I seen that a lot of people really loved this book, but it wasn’t for me. If you choose to read it, I really do hope you like it so much better than I did. If you read this book, I really do hope you liked it better than I did.
